My VGS was done 5/09/2012, I have maintained my goal weight since April. I workout with weights and trainer 3 days a week along with a 30 minute cardio workout on stationary bike doing the mountain riding programs all out. I do Water aerobics, swim laps 2-3 days a week. Lets just say I'm very active. To the point I don't even consider exercise as exercise, but just fun!! To the point....we did a body fat analysis today at the gym and I went from 41% to 28% in the last 6 months!!!!

I had to have a day procedure for a biopsy today which meant sharing my full medical history with a cast of thousands at my local public hospital. I loved it when one of the surgeons, who I had never met before, asked me about the band and then said, "It works." and the anaesthetic doctor also praised me for having my blood pressure and asthma well controlled. Now I just need the biopsy results to come back negative!

First I want to say Wow this has been quite a journey so far!!!! Everything that had to be done to get where I am at today is beyond being worth it!!! Second I want to thank my partner in crime Karen for telling me about this surgery to begin with. I would have never known about it or gone to have it done without her!!! Thank you Buttercup!!! Third I want to thank my husband for supporting my decision even though he thought I didn't need to have it done. He even stood up and said something to my family when they were being turds about me having it done. Thank you Pookie!!! So to finish up here, this is what has happened so far & what is not so far away!! Surg…

I'm a Nurse, and I work 3-11:30 PM. I was just sleeved two and a half weeks ago. I'm still on liquids, but I will start on soft foods next Saturday. Before surgery, my problem was eating late at night and then going to bed. Now because of the surgery I no longer will be able to eat late at night because of the reflux. That is a good thing. Late night eating will be my first bad habit to change. My question is, how do people working evening shift manage meals? I only get a 1/2 hour for dinner. With the new sleeve I have to eat slowly. I start back to work tomorrow. This week it's easy, but what happens next week when I start eating soft foods? I was thinking I'…

I had a little visit with my nutritionist yesterday. He was super pleased with my weight loss over the last 4 months (40 lbs) and did some fast calculations and announced..."You've lost 31% of your excess body weight." Woah. I like the way that sounded. And...it was a totally new perspective on how far I've come. So if you are struggling with numbers on the scale run that little calculation and see where you are at...you might surprise yourself.

Wowza! Just looked at my VST profile and I am no longer obese on the BMI chart. I am now just 'overweight'. It is laughable to be excited about being overweight but I am! I loathe the word obese and now it no longer applies to me. Yeah!

Today is my 13th wedding anniversary and I went out to dinner with my hubby. I wore a new dress size 1x (down from 4x), wore my wedding rings (only recently fit me) and had a lovely time with my man who said I look 10 years younger! What a happy day. I was sleeved 6/25 and am down 40 lbs from surgery and a total of 85 since January. Lovin life! Just in case you wondered I ordered shrimp cocktail and had a few bites of my husbands filet mignon, delish!

I was out shopping at HomeGoods today looking for some home decor and stumbled past this dress that I looked looked cute on the hanger...but they only had a size 12, but I thought "what the hell, try it on"...I thought it looked cute and I bought it...but now I'm thinking I might have been a little heady about the size and it might not be a keeper...asking for honest feedback :-)

I am 7 weeks out and a few weeks ago I stopped losing and even started gaining. I went into a little depression and even questioned why I had done this surgery. My doctor told me to keep my head up and keep going because she had seen patients like me that stall a little bit. Well today is weigh day and I am happy to say that it looks like my stalling is over because I jumped from a 28 pound loss to a 37 pound loss in a week and a half.

Tomorrow we leave for alaska and will be going on our first cruise. This is my dream vacation! When I told people I was having this surgery some thought I was crazy for doing it before we went. They said " you won't be able to eat on the cruise!" My reply was that I just want to be more comfortable and hoped to lose 25 or 30 pounds before we leave. I am 7 weeks out and as of this morning am down 38 pounds! I had lost over 30 in about 3 weeks, including preop. Then a 2 1/2 week stall. Now am losing a little again. My plan is to be the only person who leaves a cruise actually weighing less! Hoping to be in onederland when I get home! So close.

So last week I turned thirty and celebrated by drinking and eating all week. For the most part I was eating a little more than normal. However the alcohol seems to have speed up my weight gain to six lbs. I pretty much only worked out twice last week. Point I'm trying to make is I thought since I hadnt gained weight I was good. Served as a wake up call that this is a lifestyle change I must make and adhere to otherwise it'd be easy to gain it back. Oh we'll back to the gym and healthy eating =-)

I'm on the way to finally taking the leap into WLS, right now I am so uncomfortable in my own skin I can't stand it. I have no energy, clothes are 3X and still don't fit, moving is a struggle, I feel like I'm sitting on the sidelines of life. For those of you already into the journey, when did it feel like things started to turn around?

I am a training instructor at my martial arts school and I was there a little early for class. While I was waiting, I had to repeatedly tell one of the 6 year olds to sit down where she was directed and to stop talking during class. I had just about reached the end of her tolerance level when she turned around, looked at me and snarled, "WHEN DID YOU GET SO SKINNY ANYWAYS!?!?!?!?!?!".

I'm 5 weeks post op and my family and I went to Water Country USA today. I was able to walk the whole day and also rode water slides 7 times, which means I climbed at least 35 flights of stairs! Am I anxious to lose more than 27#? Of course! But even 27# off added lots to my life. I would never have been able to do any of that 27# ago! Oh, and I walked all over Busch Gardens yesterday too! Oh, and to the person who stole my bathing suit cover up at water country ... Enjoy, and I hope it lasts you a long time! I surely won't be that size next summer and so I have no need for it!

Today I went into American Eagle to buy some jeans for my son. While in the store I saw a shirt that I thought was cute so I picked up the XL to try it on....It was too big. I fit into a LARGE!!! I don't remember the last time I fit into a large. When I started my journey I was in a 2x top (and it was tight). YEAH!

I am happy to report that I hit the 30 pound mark today, on my 3 month bandiversary. I haven't been this weight since before my first daughter was born 17 years ago. I feel so incredibly proud of myself and I want to thank everyone on this forum and other forums who've helped me along the way. Your encouragement and support are the backbone to my success.

Prior to getting banded 3 weeks ago, I had lost 176 pounds through diet and exercise. Well the local YMCA used my story 2 years running for fund raising. They gave me trainers and every tool I needed for success at no cost to me! My insurance changed and they pay for my gym membership now only it is to 24 hour fitness. However I feel quite a bit of loyalty to the Y, they helped me so much I would not have gotten where I did with out their kind loving support. Well they called me2 weeks ago and ask if I would be willing to meet with them, my story that was featured on their FB page had gotten quite a bit of notice. Well last week I had a meeting with them and they a…

Ok, let's hope this ole gal (me! turning 60 in 2 months) can get these pics attached. The one in the black top is me at my highest weight 225lbs, and the one in the Red Sox shirt is today - only 8 lbs from goal. Weight coming off very s l o w l y now, but no worries, I'm just following the plan (high Protein, low carbs, lots & lots of Water and exercise) and it will come off when it comes off.

I work as a nanny and I'm wondering if stay at home moms with toddlers can tell me how long after surgery before you were able to take care of kids or other nannies can tell me how long they took off? The baby will be 2 when I get sleeved and the only problem I foresee is getting him in and out of crib for naps. He can climb into stroller and car seat, so no lifting there. But, I just want to schedule enough time off to allow for proper healing. I know every person is different, just looking for an estimate. Thanks!
