  • You know if you cheat, you are just cheating yourself, right? If you are not going to listen to your surgeon's advice, don't whine when your weight loss slows or stalls. Or when the food comes back

  • I've been told the 30 minutes before and after rule as well. I recently went to a WLS support group and saw a demonstration explaining why....it's about being feeling satiated and prolonging how long

30/30/30 rule per my doc.* Stop drinking 30 min before meal. Meal should last 30 min. No drinking until 30 minutes after meal. *answers will vary depending on surgeon.

IM THINKING ABOUT CHEATING...ITS CALLED A JOKE...I WOULD NOT HAVE GONE THROUGH WHAT I HAVE TO GO THROUGH TO GET THE SURGERY IF I WAS GOING TO CHEAT. I KNOW THIS SURGERY IS NOT A QUICK FIX..ITS MORE OF A RESET BUTTON. SO THEREFORE I HAVE TO DO MY PART. SO TO CLEAR IT UP IM NOT PLANNING ON CHEATING. THAT WAS THE POINT OF ME ASKING THE QUESTION!!!!

Okay then. My apologies for my snarkiness. I should never comment on other's posts at the end of a long, tiring day!

It is very difficult/almost impossible to tell the tone of ones post on the Internet. There are countless posts about people wondering when they can eat fries or pizza or milkshake.

It is very difficult to tell who is joking and who is not. Many people go through the process and do cheat. I can't speak for the other poster, but I think that was the cause for her concern.

The drinking with eating is one way to eat around the sleeve. Basically it washes the food out of the stomach causing you to feel full for a shorter amount of time. It is a hard habit to break and an easy on to slip back into. Follow your surgeons plan for drinking after eating.

I wasn't mad or anything. I just wanted people to know that I wasn't plan on cheating. That was the reason for the question because I've heard different things. That's all!!

I'm glad you posted you were joking, as others have said it is so hard to know from reading if someone is being sarcastic. I come from a long line of sarcastic folks, so I can appreciat it! I can also understand the concern of other posters to read when a sleever is looking for an "out" it does happen, often on here, that folks are just looking for the one poster that says they didnt' follow the rules and were ok. My first instinct is to be worried for them..

I think its great you asked the question, that what the forum is here for... If we (those in our shoes) dont' look out for each other, who can??

Best of luck to you!!
