  1. I had to give myself Lovenox shots for a week while Coumadin builds in my system. I will be on Coumadin for 3-6 months as the clot breaks down. It's in a low flow area so just takes time. No fear of it breaking loose but it wi take at least 3 months to go away. I feel better every day. Now just a little uncomfortable from te to time.

  3. Sorry about the nature of this post, but need input. I was sleeved on 8/20. Two weeks later found out I have a clot between my stomach and liver that will take at least 3 months to dissolve. That aside, my recovery has gone well. I have even gotten back on track with daily bowel movements. The thing is, they are pretty dark, darker than I've ever seen before. Is this something I need to be concerned about? Consistency-wise, they're normal. Just an unusual dark greenish/black color. Anyone else seeing this? Appreciate any input you may have!
  4. I thought I had gas too and it ended up being a clot between my stomach and liver. If the pain doesn't stop, please see your surgeon! A CT scan quickly found my clot.
  5. I got Panera Bread's Lobster Bisque and it was amazing!! Got it at Target in the produce section in the refrigerated cooler. I'll have to try the broccoli next time

  11. Well, the hematologist showed up Tuesday night at almost 11:00. He was the first doctor I saw who had ANSWERS!! Yay!!! and he was pretty, too, so that made my night. LOL Anyway, I have a "superior mesenteric venous thrombosis". Basically a clot in the vein from the intestines. Here's a page about it. http://www.cmaj.ca/content/183/6/693.full Anyway, I was taught how to give myself Lovenox shots for the next week and am on Coumadin, both are blood thinners. It is now just a matter of time for the clot to be absorbed. He couldn't say for sure that the clot was a result of surgery, although he wouldn't rule it out. I don't think anyone wants to say that it was, but I have no doubt. It's not like I hold anyone accountable for it. **** happens and, if I got a clot, I got a clot. It wasn't like something was done wrong that prompted it. He does, however, want to start extensive blood tests on me to ensure that there isn't a clotting issue with my blood to begin with. The pain is more tolerable today. I'm trying not to take pain pills, but I am going to be concentrating solely on meeting my water and protein goals. As it is, I lost another 2 lbs in the hospital, so I guess things could be worse. I appreciate all the posts, prayers, and concerns. You guys ROCK!
  12. They had me on a heparin drip all day. Doc said he was consulting with radiology about dissolving it. That was at 2pm and I've not seen or heard from him since. I plan to start raising hell in the morning to get answers. Still needing pain meds every couple of hours. I feel like I've been thrown in a room and forgotten.
  13. A constant pain. Stronger at times than others but always there.
  14. Best I can explain is that it feels like someone punched me in the stomach. Still waiting to see what they're going to do...
  15. Update...I have a blood clot between my stomach and liver. ER doc has never seen one there and no idea how to treat. They admitted me, giving me Heparin to stop growth and will consult with specialist in morning.
  16. Stomach pain started Friday, 16 days post op. called doc saturday and he put me back on all liquid. Pain worse Sunday. This morning sent me for CT scan. I have a blood clot between my stomach and liver. ER doc has never seen one there and no idea how to treat. They admitted me, giving me Heparin to stop growth and will consult with specialist in morning. Of course they are saying they don't know for sure if this is a result of surgery or even if this is the source of my pain. Covering their asses, I guess!

  18. Fred, did you hurt from day one? I had absolutely no pain, then 16 days out, I started hurting and am still hurting. It's not my incisions though. I feel like someone punched me in the stomach. I drink at least 70 oz of water a day. As far as the laxative goes, I knew I should be taking softener, but didn't have any and was unable to go get any. The dosage was 2 pills so I only took one. Doc didn't say there was an issue with that, but who knows. I'm constantly drinking and have no problem getting in enough protein. So tired of the pain
  19. Thanks Gamergirl and NMJG. I'll definitely give that a try...
  20. I was sleeved on 8/20/13 and had a pretty drama free surgery and first couple of weeks. Thursday, I was constipated all day, so took a laxative at bedtime. All day yesterday and all day today, I've had the worse stomach pain. I called the doctor this morning and he said to go back on nothing but liquids and allow my stomach more time to heal. I am at my wits end with this pain. I had taken one of the pain pills left over from surgery before calling him this morning. I told him I took it and he basically said not to take a narcotic for a stomach ache. Well, the pain I've been having is worse than anything I had after surgery, so I believe my decision had merit. Now, after suffering all day, I've taken another one so that I may hopefully be able to sleep. I'm terrified. Truly terrified. I can stop projecting and worrying about being in pain the rest of my life. I've lost almost 33 lbs since the pre-op diet, but if this pain doesn't go away, it's not worth it. I'd love to know if anyone else went through anything like this, what was determined to be wrong, and if it was resolved. I know there are those that have had trouble, even to the point of not being able to keep any solids down, but I started off so strong. I can't believe I'm going through this now. It's killing my attitude. I'm trying not to cry, but it's really hard.

  28. Mine, too! I'll be in ICU and may have to stay an extra day because of my cardiac stent, but will be praying for you to have an uneventful surgery!!
