  4. Stop whining about so-called stalls.... Did you know Diana Nyad eats up to 9000 calories per DAY!!! now admittedly, Diana is an extreme example, however, the formula remains the same.... If you are working out 2 active hours in the gym as some claim, you are doing your health a MAJOR disservice by trying to survive on 600, 800 or even 1000 calories. Stop worrying about a so-called Stall..you WILL lose if you properly hydrate & fuel your body. It isnt actually a STALL, your body is holding on to Water & glycogen for its dear life.... EAT THE food, MOVE YOUR BUTT and you WILL lose! ( which is why when some folks add in good fats that so-called stall is …

The picture on the left is my wife and I, May 2012. The picture on the right this past weekend a combined 160+ pounds lighter. I was banded the end of Feb 2013, my wife had bypass the end of April. So much in our lives has changed... 4 mile walks/jogs, 7 miles hikes, 15+ mile bike rides. And the bedroom... HOT!!! Getting married, having our kids, and making this change... best things we have ever done!

  6. It was May 27 th of this year when I decided "enough is enough". I weighed in that day at 475 pounds and vowed I was done doing this to myself and my family. Forward 10 weeks to this morning when my scale told me in that computerized voice (yes, it talks) -"399.8 pounds". There was something about hearing the number start with "3" instead of "4" that almost made me cry. Then I remembered I was a 42 year old man and not a 14 year old girl! When my weight is on the way down, it fluctuates 2-3 pounds a day, so I may see a "4" tomorrow, but just seeing that "3" made the surgery and everything that's gone with it seem ok. Everyone on here has been so helpful and I hope…

And the other me in the skinny jeans at 255 pounds First pic i am posting of myself, feel nervous!

I just want to tell my story ... nobody get my brags like fellow bandsters. It all started January 2012 I stepped on a scale and realized I weighed more than. I ever did pregnant. I had reached 260. I had started hiding from pictures. Nothing fit right... my kids would make comments like "mommy has a big tummy" or commercials would come for weight loss or tummy wraps to make you look smaller and my daughter would say mommy you need that. I had no energy was depressed. I didn't even let my husband touch me. I had enough. So I went to my Dr we tried a life wellness program. And in it didn't work. In march she suggested I look into the lap band. So I agreed to go to the semi…

  13. 82 pounds gone (I'm over halfway there!), and I expected my pants to be too big, but now they are too long! I guess I never realized how much my heavy thighs took up my pants. Now that my thighs are thinner, my pants drape and drag the ground! I had always bought the "tall" sizes so they wouldn't look like floodpants, (I'm 5'8", which I thought was tall!) but now I guess it's back to "average". Sigh. At least the overall size is smaller! Have to get used to my shirts being drapey too. I'm trying not to buy every size on the way down.

  15. My heart is broken. A friend of mine for over 18 years has passed away from a heart attack. He battled with his weight all his life. At his highest I am guessing he was maybe 500 plus pounds. He was diabetic, he smoked both cigarettes and weed, he was depressed and the aches and pains due to his weight was hurting his body, he started to use a cain toward the end to help him walk. At my highest when I said its time to take control of my weight I was 301lbs, I try to encourage him to do the WLS, so that his quality of life would be better and he would say no I don't do well with pain. And when he would see me he saw my weight was going down I would still try and enc…

I was at my highest weight in 2003, I weighed 298. In 10 years I have lost 76 lbs, 44.5 of that in the last 3 months. I just realized my ticker says I have 77 lbs to go so I am half way to goal from where I started 10 years ago. Ten years of yoyo'ing between 298 and 235, mostly sitting around 245. I haven't been in the 220's since the 1980's, I havent been under 200 since 1982 when I got married. I know the VSG is the best thing I have ever done for myself.

I had surgery two weeks ago today and am feeling better than I thought possible. Really, I'm feeling better than I have in about a year! Hit my highest weight in July and since then, I'm down 35 pounds! Since surgery, I'm down 27 pounds! I know harder days are coming, but I'm thrilled! Maybe even better than the weight, is the walking. I started a regular walk the day after I came home with about a half a mile. Each day I have been able to increase and I'm up to about 2.5 miles now! This is the best decision I've made since marrying my husband!

Maybe not completely satisfied quite yet because I can't quite conquer love but happy with myself for the first time in a long time is well worth the effort I give everyday to keep on going and succeeding. Hope everyone had a great holiday!! I just got off work and I am going to relax with a protein shake and some tunes. T…

While we were sitting in the section where food is served I found myself watching people stuffing popcorn and pretzels and pizza and hot dogs in their mouths. I was disgusted! Maybe it's just a weird day for me but I can remember when my mom quit smoking - she couldn't STAND smokers. I hope my view continues to be this way so I won't be tempted!! 16 days til surgery - I sat sipping my protein water and thought about that! :0)

I got such good support and reactions from everyone. I own a wholesale bakery we make all sorts of pastries, cookies, bars, and cakes for coffee shops and other places including grocery store bakeries. So every Monday I bake and donate and serve at homeless dinner program. One of the other workers at Hopes Table came up to me and said he was so proud of me taking such a step to maintain your health. I responded by saying yes I am cheating for the home run! I have often started one of these threads, but would stop after writing a bit because while the LAP-BAND®®® has helped me lose weight and now maintain my weight for nearly two years, it seems crazy to feel like a success. I started with a low-ish BMI (37) and losing 90lbs+ didn't seem significant enough to class me as a success, I thought! And I just felt that I was very fortunate that the band worked for me. Yes, I exercised - 40 mins 3 times a week when I was losing - but I didn't count calories, I didn't do low carb, I just got regular fills, ate when I was hungry and in time, my addiction to food diminished and I just lost weight. The band helped me with portion con…

At the seminar I realize that I needed to stop smoking and that I would be changing for the rest my life my children. I have three children eight years old three years old and a one-year-old. And I would love to be that "soccer mom " That coaches are runs up and down the field. I couldn't do that because I was so heavy. I also couldn't do that cause I have severe chronic neck and back issues. My pain management doctor recommended that I move forward with the surgery. If I lost some weight maybe we take pressure off my spine and I would have less pain. …

Well, I weighed in yesterday and the scale finally revealed that I was at my original weight goal! I have lost 138 lbs. total since July 30, 2012. I have not reached the green zone, but I feel that I am extremely close. I had been on a plateau for about three months, hanging around +- five pounds, but I now have started to lose again. So Pleased! I had a fill about 2 weeks ago and I feel some restriction and strangely I get full signals from my lower stomach now. I have never eaten only 1 to 1-/2 cups of food at a meal, but I have tracked my calories and protein on My Fitness Pro. After this last fill, I am not able to eat as much, which is vey good. The second time, I was concentrating on my punching form so hard, I didn't even notice my pants were around my mid thighs. Ooooops! Walked all corridors ( minus the food court) on both floors without having to knock anyone down trying to sit at a bench . I have had my band since Jan 2012. I lost about 55 pounds, but I gained about 33 pounds of that back. I have been depressed over this. I felt and I felt like a failure. About a week ago, I decided to take my life back (again). What I failed to realize is that this struggle is mostly mental. I was eating full size meals like I was before, hamburgers..tons of slider foods which resulted in me gaining some of the weight back and I stopped working out. Once I was able to identify my problems, mainly being a emotional eater, I decided that I have to have control over my emotions and not let them control me. At this moment, all I can see is the finish line, even though its so f…
