Down exactly 65 pounds since April (47 since July 18 th surgery). What I love most: Ability to move my body again! I am no longer the biggest girl in the room! The way my shadow looks! Taking stairs at work and not dying! Fitting in my bath tub again! Feeling sexy and getting wonderful compliments from hubby! Going from size 26 to size 18! And of course, SEX, SEX, SEX! Best decision I have ever made...look forward to posting before and after pictures when I reach goal!

Sleeved 7 days ago. On liquid diet for 2 weeks and then I have to move onto custard style food.for 2 weeks and then pureed food for another 2. The thing is as the days draw nearer I'm getting scared to death of food. I know I shouldn't but I'm stepping on the scales daily and seeing a pound of here and two of here and I'm really enjoying it. When I start eating food I'm thinking this is going to stop . I dont know how much I'm going to be able to eat but I'm scared that I'm Just going to carry on and not realise I'm full unless it's that bursting feeling of omg I'm Going to be sick if I eat any more so I had better stop. I have not been hungry once in last 7 days .…

I was folding my laundry today (right out of the dryer -- that's an NSV all on it's own) and every item I pulled out was either yoga pants or a t-shirt. This isn't anything new from my fat days until I realized that I didn't wear these clothes all week because they were comfortable and all I felt like wearing, but because I SWEATED IN THEM every single day this week!! I am no longer wearing my exercise clothes to hold down the couch but to... EXERCISE!!!!!!! And while I am wasting your time, I will throw out that I hiked over 10 miles today, logging 25k+ steps on my fitbit AND I am doing a Pretty Muddy 5k Obstacle course in the morning. AND I LIKE IT!!

I have lost 61 lbs since the beginning of July! Only 35 of that is since being banded. I never knew I could be so disciplined and motivated! I have even started running... well jogging more so since I am still a big girl! Super excited and wanted to share! I started my journey at 310 lbs and weighed in this morning at 249 lbs. I don't even know the last time I saw that number!

I broke though the 30 bmi barrier. I went on a hiking vacation and could not weight for 11 days. I hiked for 4-5 hours daily and had no problems with keeping my food intake to normal levels. I lost 9 pounds. (OMG) and went from 30.5 to 29.1 (approx.) I have never been that low. Wow! My wife doesnt think I have enough to lose to get to 25. That is 26 pounds away, so it is hard to tell. My goal has always been 179 (12 pounds to go) so i could be the "typical 180 pound man" they always talk about. It would also put me lighter than all my friends and my brother, not that i am in any way competitive or anything.

So I've been photologging my weight loss journey and wasn't going to show my pics until I was finished, but this most recent set of pictures is SUCH a contrast from where I started. I am about 2/3 of the way to goal, and it's been almost 11 months. If these pictures don't show what the sleeve is capable of, I don't know what is. WOW! I feel incredible!

I cannot believe my size is now a medium after being 3x and 4x for so long. And the medium shirts fit very well. I also went from size 48 pant size to Levi 32. Yet I do not feel small. It is strange in a way. I am 5 ' 11 " and currently 177. I was 360 around my surgery on July 2nd 2012. Daily cross fit has given me a good build.

I just realized it was five months today that i had surgery. Two days before my surgery on 4/24/13 I weighed in at 340. I considered that pretty good, since I had weighed in at 359 right around the baseball playoffs last October. I weighed myself this morning and saw I was down to 270. I haven't been this low for decades. Like many here, when I look in the mirror, I don't see the difference. So while sitting here at tonight's Yankee game, I went through some old pictures on my iPad and found this picture from last fall. I then took another pic here tonight. Ok, now I see the difference everyone else seems to be seeing.... Ron

Yesterday I was out and about and ran into an ex-boyfriend. His greeting was "OMG...look at you, you're tiny!" After he finished showering me with compliments, he wanted to know if I was single and if he could call me sometime. I was a bit ga-ga over this guy for about a year and he didn't treat me as well as I deserved, so it was soooooo nice to tell him, "it was nice seeing you, take care". Then walking away without answering his relationship questions or giving him my phone number. Well, he turned facebook stalker on me late last night. Even though he's not a FBF he was still able to send me a message, it was late so I didn't reply and he sent another one this mo…

Hello everyone! Well well.... What can I say? It's been one of the craziest years of my life I am putting this post in the 'lap band success stories" section because on many levels I really do feel like a success! I have lost a solid 60 lbs since august 2012 and am only 40 lbs away from my ultimate goal ! I have: -went from a size 20/22 to a size 12/14 -starting running for 20 minutes at a time (I used to barely do 90 seconds at a time) -stopped having arch pain in my foot and knee pain -started feeling "normal" meaning that I no longer feel like my obesity defines me. Whenever I used to hang out with friends it felt like I was always the "fat one". - Learned who…

Just wanted to show off a little. Bought a new suit this month and then ran across a vacation pic from July 2012. If you look closely at the July pic, you might notice a cruise ship hiding behind me. :-P

Just got rid of the last few things I was hanging on to. I barely have anything left! My husband helped me load it all into bags. As I was throwing away a hoodie I had always worn, my husband asked why I was throwing it away when I loved it so much. It made me cry to tell him that I hadn't really loved it, I had pretend that I did with the majority of my clothes because I am young and want to look unique in my clothing choice, but my size wouldn't allow it. The hoodie I got rid of was a men's 4x. I do have a fun sense of style but I have never been able to show it before. I'm not all the way there, but I am a heck of a lot closer than I was before! Oh and I got ri…

I wanted to share my excitement and pure happiness of being 58 lbs down in 3 months. I know some lose faster than that but in my entire life, I have not continually lost weight and kept it off for more then 2 months. So when I hit 3 months without regaining any weight, I decided I would finally celebrate weight loss. I am a true believer in the sleeve. It is the tool for me. I just got done cleaning my closet (for the 2nd time since surgery)...3 more garbage bags full of clothes that are sizes never again coming into my closet. I just got done swimming laps (my every Tuesday exercise) and I swam all of them freestyle, no breast stroke to catch my breath. The crossf…

Greetings to you all! I am really curious as people always assume I am older than I am; which is not a bad thing. So I want to do a little experiment, I want to post a picture of myself now, pre-surgery and see how old you think I am. This is not something where you say oh, 19, and think 29 haha. I want the hard numbers that you genuinely see. I want to see if I age from weight loss or lose years. I am attached a few pictures taken within the last year. Thank you for your honesty. Also yes, the little boy is my nephew. Love him so much!!

So here it is. I had my surgery on August9 with Dr. Lopez in Mexico, so far so good, down 30lbs, but here is my problem, my BF told me yesterday that I will be the worst ex smoker ever, as in the worst reformed fat person, I'm sure u all know what I mean, sure I'm 6 weeks out, I really have a fixation with the weigh scale, i expected that, I mean really give a girl a break, I really figure its his own insecurities coming out. I love him to pieces but he's pissin me off, he is also a little over weight, like 40 lbs or so, my mom has lived with us since 2009, she expects us to cook for her all the time, she is 81 and deserves us do in that for her, but here's another proble…

Hi there. I have been roaming around the site for a few weeks and am a crossroads of sorts. Here are the basics: 1. I'm doing self-pay due to insurance declining me. 2. Local hospital is about $31K for gastric sleeve and they aren't a Center of Excellence 3. I have talked to Dr. Umbach's office at Blossombariatrics - pricing is good, but that isn't my main concern, I want to make sure the procedure is done correctly, not cheaply. I was pretty sure about Dr. Umbach until I read a couple of bad reviews on a couple of sites. Granted there were about 120 good reviews, but the 4 bad ones caught my eye. So, I'm sending this out to anyone that will answer: 1. An…

Hi friends! My six-months postop bandiversary was Friday. While I thought I'd hit -40 pounds that morning, I'm still stuck at a plateau, where I've been for a week or so. I'm not upset, however; I weight 39 pounds less than I did six months ago. I'm so pleased with what the lapband has brought back to my life: courage, self-confidence, mobility, energy, happiness even during the most stressful of times (my BF had to undergo an emergency quintuple bypass three weeks ago, and these days are just crazy stressful for me right now). I feel great and what I've accomplished with the band has translated over to all other areas in my life..pushing up against my comfort zone…

I'm getting a little concerned...I have lost 56 lbs so far and I am proud of that. But for the last month my weight loss has slowed down tremendously. I may have lost 3 lbs n last month. Is this normal? Will it pick back up? I can also tell I am getting hungry more often. Is this normal?

Today I am nine weeks out from surgery. I am down a total of fifty pounds - 20 on pre-op and 30 since surgery. I can't even believe it! I had hoped to make it to 50 by my birthday, but I hit that goal two weeks early. Happy early birthday to me!!! None of my clothes fit, but this time, it's because they are too BIG, not because they are too small! I can't remember ever shrinking out of my clothes like this. Without a doubt, deciding to get the sleeve was the best decision of my life (other than marrying my DH!). I am so thankful for all of the support and knowledge I have received from all of you here at VST. I wouldn't be where I am today without you gals & guys.

My daughter and I were on vacation and had walked into a store that we have never been in. As we were walking around the produce section I looked across the store and I saw two people that had on our same outfits. The one I noticed first was the lady dressed like me, only she was much thinner then I was. Then I noticed the other woman, and realized she had the same outfit on as my daughter, I walked over to my girl to point the two out to her, and then it hit me! I wasn't looking across the store at two different women wearing our outfits, I was looking into a big mirror that was placed there ( I guess to make the store look bigger) and so of course I was seeing us....I j…

Mixed emotions. Cleaning out my closet down 43 pounds and my close friend who is 7 months pregnant came over. We were going shopping to get her maternity clothes as she is outgrowing her current ones after returning home I had her try on a few of my too big for the new me clothes. What the hell 10 shirts and 10 pants and two dresses later all of which fit a 7 month pregnant that barely fit me before deciding to get the band!!! I don't know if I should laugh or cry. I'm so happy of my success 1/3 of the way to goal but so sad that I was a size of a pregnant woman... Now if I had been pregnant maybe it wouldn't hit me so hard. 6 months ago I was the size of 1.5 people. …

I'm here to answer any questions I can or help in any way Frank

Help not sure if I'm doing something wrong or not? I lost 15 pounds the first two weeks and have not lost anything since then. On Tuesday I'll be a month it seems like every time I eat I feel bad, sick to my stomach and feel like I'm going to throw up. Don't know where to turn only people that I have told is my son and mother, which are to busy to even listen to me, plus the don't understand. Any suggestions to help me start losing again or not feeling nauseous??

Hello, So I am in the pre-op stage, and will be getting my surgery in the next few months. My question for you nurses is; how do you get all your required food an nutrients in on a work day. I am a student nurse with clinical, and I am wondering how to best use my pouch during a day and during shift work. Thanks ❤

As of this morning, I have 1) lost over 150 pounds since I began this weight loss journey, 2) lost over 50% of my "excess weight" (above my goal), and 3) reached under 300 pounds for the first time in over 20 years (since my oldest child was conceived)! Yay me!!! Woo hoo!!!

I finally made it to the DMV to renew my drivers license. Of course I could not complete my mission on my first trip due to the fact that I had to have two proofs of address, birth and marraige certificates, and social security card, first born child, DNA sample--ok so maybe not the last two. Anyway I was finally off on a day that the DMV was open, so I made a second trip. When I got to the counter and provided the necessary information the lady behind the table began entering the data from the form...She paused. Looked at my old license, looked at my paper work, looked at me...."Have you lost A LOT of weight. It is not very often we get to subtract 100lbs from someon…

I was sleeved 7/30 and have lost 35 lbs since surgery (44 including liquid pre-diet). I don't really see a difference yet (sorry no pics for me yet- ugh). Ive only just come out of a 2 week stall tho- so? Maybe soon. However.... I have great reports from my 2 month dr appt. I am no longer diabetic (not even close!) no longer need blood pressure medication, my knees stopped hurting and I dropped 71 points on my cholesterol! So... Would I sleeve again? Absolutely!

I still need about 34 pounds to get to goal, but I'm definitely LOVING my new body! My highest weight was almost 250, lost 20 pre-op and 46 pounds post-op. I just had my 3 month surgeversary, and I'm loving every minute! (Well, with the exception of the first 2 weeks post-op! Haha!) Good luck newbies and I wish continued success to all my sleeve brothers and sisters! Sent from my iPhone using VST

Two years ago today, my husband of 20 years had a melt down and told me for the first time how much he hated my body and that our sex life was terrible because I was fat. This was the first time he had ever said anything and I was pissed, shocked, hurt and confused. I thought about walking out because it was such a bombshell, but over the next two weeks we got everything out in the open (including me telling him things that I had held back). We cried, we fought, we talked, we made some decisions. Although he could have handled it much differently, I couldn't deny that he was right....not to mention my health was going downhill. A month later, I had WLS, that was Octobe…

It has been one year since my surgery. I have lost 135 lbs so far. I would still like to lose another 30. During my first few months, it was this website, the success stories, the advice and yes the more difficult stories that helped me. I have experienced things over the past 6 months that I haven't done in years - concerts, trips and even a boot camp exercise program. I found muscles I didn't even know I had. I do not have one regret about my decision to have the surgery. I am looking forward to life and living it instead of just watching. Right before surgery One year later

I'm down 53 pounds in 3 mths, NO fills, not hungry, forget to eat alot. Have alot of trouble getting protein in because im not hungry enough, even for the protein drinks. I've had major complications almost died 3 times still full of blood clots, nobody seems to know why, im under the care of so many doctors, I've had zero excersise because it is forbidden for me and I still have had success.. it can be done! Definitely happy. The lap band has been the least of my concerns with my other health issues but it is still reminding me that its in there by the results I see!

Hello everyone I was banded August 12 at 9:00 and it was by far the best decision I've ever made in my 21 years of living roughly 2 weeks before my surgery me and my boyfriend went on a weekend getaway to Charleston, S.C on that trip I went shopping and bought a dress that was purposely 3 sizes too small and I promised myself that when I lose 50 pounds I'll go on another weekend getaway and wear that same dress and on that getaway I'll buy something that I can wear or use on my next goal....Well today is my day I leave tonight to Atlanta Georgia to a Tyler Perry play with my sister! I'm 4 pounds away from my first 50 pound goal but CLOSE ENOUGH!.... I LOVE YOU ALL and I'l…

I had my surgery in April 2010. I weighed 581 the day of the surgery, and weighed in at 310 this morning. I was wearing a size 72, and just bought a size 48. The key is steady, and don't let a flat weight or a pound gain freak you out. Just keep it going, and it will work if you keep your mind on track. Have some fun, cheat once in awhile, and you will do good.I also work as a food buyer in a major retailer, so food samples are around 24/7. So if I can do it, anybody can!
