Hi! So I'm 18 & I had my surgery on 4/17/13 starting at 310 and as of today I'm 258. I think for 2 & 1/2 months that's pretty good. But lately I've been really weak & I haven't been able to keep any food down. Plus I barely get 30 grams of protein in a day. I can't do the shakes. I basically eat anything just in super small portions, Is that ok? I guess I'm just looking for some advice lol

When your shirts are to big at the belly and the under arm piece hangs 3+ inches below your arm pit. Just thought its been a funny week because all my shirts that use to be tight are apparently too big now so it's taken like 15 extra minutes to get ready for work everyday to find clothes that I can wear to work. Please post your funny WLS problems!

How do the doctors judge by one's sleeve size? I hear some folks say how small theirs are and others say the opposite. Is there a certain size per person or the persons weight.

About once a week or every two weeks I have lunch with my mom. We also spend lots of time shopping on the weekends together so its not like she hasnt seen in eons or anything. Anyway, she picks me up for lunch at my work this week and it was such a nice day that I decided to wait outside for her. I saw her pull up in front and I started walking towards the car. I get in the car and she goes "ok, I was like "who is this girl walking towards my car"" She didnt even recognize me at first. Her own daughter who she sees all the time. What a compliment!

I was banded on 4/19 and went today for my checkup with my primary care doctor. Before surgery, my A1C was down to 6.5 with diabetic medicines. Today, my A1C was 6.0!!!! Woo hoo! Able to go from 3 pills a day to 2....the doctor stated I will probably be off all meds in a few months! Two years ago, my A1C was over 8. I'm so excited...I wanted the lapband for mainly health reasons with the weight loss as a bonus. Can't wait for the future!!!!

Hi everyone! It's been awhile since I've posted here but I wanted to share my one year bandiversary pictures! I can't believe I've been on this journey for a year already. No regrets, I would do it all again in a second! I still continue to lose weight, and I don't have any particular stopping point in mind. I plan on just going with the flow until my body tells me it's at it's comfort zone. I feel great and am just loving life everyday. I can't believe the difference in my confidence, I feel like I'm finally the person I was meant to be. Before: After: Progress:

I seem to be having a dumb moment... What does "NSV" stand for? Clearly something in regards to positive progress, but I can't guess the wording lol. Thanks for helping me out of my dumb blonde moment. (I'm blonde so can say that LOL)

I find myself struggling to see the changes that everyone else sees lately. Well, my mind is finally catching up with my body! I get it and see it now! I was banded 12/3/12 and I'm 7months post-op and have lost over 70lbs! I feel better mentally and physically. I have been hitting the gym at 4am, 4-5x's week and it is paying off. My before pic is 7/5/12 in the blue shirt is before surgery and my after pic in the pink dress is 7/5/13, exactly one year apart. I had no clue till I posted the new pic on FB and everyone was commenting on it so I looked up pics from last summer and I was like "now I see it". All i can say is What a difference a year can make"! Also my b…

How different can a vacation look year to year? My pre-op and recent op friends, you have no idea. Last year and this year in July we took my nephews (9 and 10 this year) to Myrtle Beach. Here are a few differences. Last year I was about 400 and this year 245. My swim trunks were 6x last year and 1x this year. Last year I went in the ocean with my nephews and was scared to death I wouldn't be able to keep my balance and get out of the water - much less be a good guardian for them. This year, I was having the best time in the water ever. I'm planning to resume SCUBA in a few months, so this was confirmation that I'm on track. Last year when my nephew…

I just checked my BMI after doing my weekly weigh-in, and I'm officially overweight. I'm not longer MO, or even obese!!!! If it weren't 10:15pm, I would go outside and shout it to the moon and stars. I don't want my neighbors thinking I'm a total nut, so I will just come here and do my little happy dance!!

Hi everyone! Sometimes it takes looking at side by side photos to really make it sink in. I'm still losing but it has drastically slowed down so instead of getting down on myself I made a quick side by side photo to finally see the difference. The first one is the morning of my surgery, the second was taken last week. I'm down over 100lbs with 16 more to go to my Dr's goal and 36 to my personal goal. Thanks for being an amazingly supportive community to be a part of!

Can anyone tell me what being under anesthesia is like? Ive never had any kind of surgery, nor have I been 'put under' before so I'm curious to know! Of course I realize I'll be unconscious, BUT do you remember or feel anything at all? And does it kick in immediately and you just fall asleep?

I had to go clothes shopping due to my job I wear dress pants and suits, my pants are to the point I am afraid they will fall to my ankles! So shopping I went...... to my shock I bought 2 size 14 pants ....not womans size but regular size 14! I remain in shock, mostly because I continue to see the really out of shape in need of work woman in the mirror! I know and am fine with the fact that I am a slow loser and this is just fine with me as long as the scale goes lower. But, when will I see someone I can relate to in the mirror? It is almost my one year bananniversary. Best decision I ever made, I now know what the "green zone" feels like.....heaven! I have so got this! …

I did this neat graph to show my surgeon when I went for my 4-month post-op appointment yesterday. It's interesting to see how my weight bounced around between my surgery date of Mar 20th and the date of my first fill (May 15th) at which point it starts a consistent descent. Not sure what happened on June 24th (there's a small peak at that point) but otherwise, I'm pleased. I'm getting a second fill next month and I'm sure the line will keep moving downward, perhaps even faster!

I have to admit, while researching the sleeve that number concerned me! I wanted to lose 100%! I personally know 2 people who have lost 100% and one had trouble losing too much! The other is 8 months pregnant and was flaunting her cute little belly in a bikini yesterday. I'm 8 months out and have already lost 70% of my excess. For those still researching, don't let that number discourage you! I don't know how they came up with it! Seems like most lose more than that!

So I went to a work luncheon today and sat in a tight corner at the table that 65 lbs. ago, I’d have never been able to fit into. My first reaction when I saw where I was likely headed was oh uh…too tight…sit somewhere else…but then I realized it would probably be OK and it was. I know I’m still overweight and not nearly at goal yet, but these little ‘normalcies’ that so many people take for granted are so uplifting for me and help me to keep my eye on the prize.

Woooooo down to a size 16 in a dress so happy it's been a good 6 years that I've weight this much :-) I wish I had the surgery years ago :-) having a skinny moment . Sent from my iPhone using LapBandTalk

Nothing feels better than shopping for new clothes and the clothes you thought we're your size are to big!!!!! Just 6 1/2 short weeks ago I was a size 16 and 214 lbs. Today I weigh 192 lbs and am a size 12. And i haven't had a fill yet. I can't believe this. As I've seen on here so many times "nothing tastes as good as weight loss feel".

Went to the dr yesterday and he stated there is a time limit on my band 10 to 15 years top! I am 8 years out and have to do testing to see how things are going. What are my options after this, It didn't sound like he wanted to put another band on? Anyone else with this issue?? Lynne

Had surgery almost 10 weeks ago and I am half way to my 'goal' weight of 165!!! Im not that particular at what my goal weight was, I just chose half of what I started at. Started at 331, at 248 right now! Lost 83, 83 to go! Woohoo!

So, I have been overweight my whole life. I am 33, i was 175 in high school. 210-220 most of my adult life and now topped off at 245. I feel like crap. I have researched and thought about bariatric surgery for the past 10 years. I am now confident that the sleeve is right for me and just done with dieting. I have no comorbidites but have other issues that I won't go on forever and list. In the past two months I have been in the ER twice and told to have my gallbladder out by the ER docs. Saw my primary the other day and she proceeds to tell me that all her patients who have done bariatric surgery have all gained their weight back and instead of removing my gallbladder I s…

I had my sleeve done last week. I can seemingly easily tolerate liquids in good amounts drank quickly. I can drink a 12 oz. Protein shake or 2 cups of broth in minutes without pain or bloating or even feeling full. Is this normal and/or ok? The surgeon said I should sip the Protein Shake over a two hour period. I've read on the forums here that calorie free liquids are ok in quantity and that they won't stretch out the sleeve, etc. I just wonder why my surgeon insists I sip everything. Thanks in advance!

I was on vacation for a few days this week and then when I got home, I ate out a couple of evenings as well. I got on the scale this morning as I do every Sunday and I lost a half pound and I feel great. Not because of the weight loss....a half pound is nothing. I feel great because I feel in control. For the longest time, I gave in to my food desires and overdid at every occasion. Of course, then the guilt comes from not being able to stop. So...this week I truly enjoyed every meal, and paid attention to what I ate and how much I ate and never ate too much...and again..I felt like I was in control...not just of food, but in control of my life. I don't know how el…

After getting rid of all the clothes that are too big, doing laundry, and hanging up my new shirts, it sure feels GREAT for them to actually stay on the hanger! My "fat shirts" always would slip off! So, yay! Second, I started CrossFit today! I did it for almost one month last October (when I was 60 lbs heavier) and it was an awful experience. Not the actual workout or CF itself, but ME... I was miserable! Today was far different and I felt SO good when I left there. I can't wait to go back on Wednesday morning! Let the weight loss continue and the toning begin! What are some of your latest NSVs?
