I quit smoking about a month before my surgery and weight was going up quickly I mean 20 pounds in a month. Which is one of the reasons I believe I am a slow looser. Then a month ago I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism also contributing to being a slow looser. The odds were not good but despite it all as of today a little over 5 months out (drum roll) I am down 30 pounds!!!!!!!!!. Happy! Happy! Happy! Yes I am a slow loosing winner!

On Sunday the wife and I leave for 4 nights in Las Vegas. I can't wait to board the plane and get in the seat, there should be lots of room and no need for a seat belt extender. I'm not worried about eating there, as it is now I can't overeat even if I want to, there will be buffets for us. And with less spent on food I think we'll take in an extra show. Who knows I may even get in the pool. SW 304 CW 222

I made it to the 40lb mark today!!! I thought I was never going to see it! The loss between 30 & 40 creeped soooo slowly. I tried keeping my head high by measuring inches. I am down 29 inches since Jan:) I am 22 lbs from my goal so I have got to kick things up a notch at the gym. I am ready to conquer this challenge & live a healthy, happy life. Next NSV....weigh less than my husband, 8 lbs from this goal. I am so glad I chose the lap band....best decision ever:)

Hello everyone, I was sleeved on April 3rd 2013 and like many of you I have been heavy pretty much my entire life. In High school and early college it was not a huge deal as I played football and I could eat a house and still stay the same weight and as a lineman I needed some "bulk". After football was over for me though I still ate like I was playing and the pounds just packed on one after another. 3ish years ago I started looking at WLS and had to go on the 6 month diet and at that time I was 418 pounds. I proceeded to lose 130 and at the half way mark to that I decided I didn't need the surgery. Fast forward to this year I ended up gaining back till I was at 362 and…

First, before i go into the subject, let me tell you a little about myself. I HATE MYSELF! I HATE MYSELF! I HATE MYSELF! I HAVE ALWAYS HATED MYSELF! DID I SAY, I HATE MYSELF? IN CASE I FORGOT, I HATE MYSELF. This has all changed today as i was washing the dishes. This past valentine, my husband has gave me a mirror as a gift, this mirror is heart shaped and my husband decided to glue it on the wall that i face when i am at the sink, when he glued it, he…

So tonight I decided it was time to go do some shopping (which I absolutely hate). All of my clothes are getting a bit big and baggy. So I ran into JC Penny's and started walking over to the area where I normally shop. They have rearranged the store a bit and I think I looked a little lost. One of the sales clerks asked if she could help me and she showed me where the womans section was. I started walking in that direction and she told me "I think you are going the wrong way". I said excuse me? and she said "you don't belong in that section". I thanked her and told her I had been working on losing weight and I wasn't sure what size I currently needed and started to walk b…

  18. I thought this was an appropriate name for a new thread!!! Seems like we keep hearing again and again about all the doctor's south of the border. Never a bad word, never a leak, never a complaint, not one. Never, never, never. I don't know if people who have had something go wrong are paid NOT post it, are they scared to or if they just kick the bucket and we're never the wiser. Who knows.....I am here to tell you that after reading those "scripts", I feel cheated, jipped, screwed out of a "butterfly and rainbow" experience. I landed at DFW airport from out of state. Nobody from my un-named doctor's office picked me up. Nobody delivered me to the hospital the next mornin…

I am 3 weeks out today. I'm 19 pounds since surgery. 30 since I started my two week pre op diet. I have lost a total of 26 total inches. I'm 5"8 and starting weight was 240, had a bmi of 36. I was on 12 different meds. Since surgery I take 1 thyroid pill a day, 1 vitamin d pill a week. No more high no, no more diabetes, no more high cholesterol, no more sleep apnea! Thank You Jesus! I had no real pain, no nausea or vomiting. It is still a head journey but we are all winners. Who ever says this is the easy way is a damn idiot. Keep at it!

I still don't really see me as others do, and I'm not sure I ever will. I'm still a work in progress. Good luck to all of you starting on YOUR journey, it's fun. Get a disposable camera and have someone take a picture of you the day before or the day of surgery....then have them take a picture of you every month on your surgery 'date'. After your 'one year' surgiversary, go get the camera developed. Having the pictures laid out side by side....seeing your transformation like that.....it is amazin…

I had surgery two weeks ago today (well technically yesterday but I'm a nightowl). I can't believe how tiny and good my incisions look. I was always a slow healer but I never took care of myself and I think 4 weeks of Vitamins have helped. When I started my pre-surgery diet 4 weeks ago I was 266.5 lbs. When I had surgery 2 weeks ago I was 257.5 lbs and today I was 245 lbs. So I lost 21.5 lbs in 4 weeks, 12.5 lbs in the 2 weeks post surgery. Funny I feel like this is going so slow but when I step back and figure it out I think I am doing pretty durn great! My best friend says my face is thinner, my DH says my tummy is smaller. I really don't think they can see a…

  26. The following comment in another thread seemed worthy enough to have its own thread. People are attracted to people who radiate success. That is human nature I have found. The old saying is true: to make a friend you need to be a friend. I am not an expert on human nature nor or societal judgement of people, but am a keen observer of people in how they interact. This might come from years and years of seeking out acceptance and always finding rejection when moving among the flow of human interactions. And trying to figure out how to improve it before giving up a few years ago. Now after striving after fitness goals, I find myself standing with good posture and…

I never thought in a million years i'd be in a 5k, voluntarily, let alone JOGGING it. WLS surgery has been the hardest thing I've ever done in my life, but little moments like this remind me of why I did it. I attached a photo of a very happy me at the finish line.

I'm a couple of pounds away from being under 200 for the first time in years. I should reach that goal next week or the following. I still have a long way to go..I'd like to lose another 50 lbs. but the thought of getting on the scale at my primary doctor's office and not setting the weight at 200 or even 250 (which I had to do before being banded) truly makes me smile.

I've decided today is a good day to take stock of my weight loss journey. Running today I broke my pace record for my entire life averaging 14 min/mile and more importantly I broke my record for fastest mile (13.5 min/mile). I'm still running half the distance and 50% slower than the average man my age who uses Nike+ but I'm running twice as often. I'm within 5 lbs of having lost 100 lbs (40 of which has been in the last 3 months with the lap band). I still have nearly 150 lbs to lose before my BMI would be "healthy" but I'm starting to suspect I'll reach a "healthy" waist measurement before that since I've lost 6 inches off my wait in the last 3 months and and am o…

Just home from shopping trip for sandals. Walked into shop, picked a style, tried the left foot on and was very happy with the look. Asked the assistant if I could try on a pair... She went off to get the other shoe and came back very apologetically saying "we only have wide fitting left, sorry, but I can order you a regular fit" ..... She has no idea why I left smiling despite not getting my shoes. Having had "wide" feet for 30 years, this is the first time anyone has looked at me and judged that I must have "normal" feet... 43. You can see in my signature how my weight loss has progressed. When I hit 3 months I will be posting actual comparison pics (I still don't see much of a physical difference when I look in the mirror but more and more people are starting to notice). I'm sure there is a difference, I started out in a 26-28 pant and today I am wearing COMFORTABLE size 20's. I got on the scale this morning and it had moved as well as being able to wear smaller britches so I figured I'd do so face shots for comparison and I felt like this was too good not to share on a Friday. I'm coming along, I have a long way to go, but getting there everyday and couldn't be doing it without my sleeve!
