I went for a massage today, first one since 2 weeks before surgery last August.... and i had PLENTY of room on the table!!! Last time I was almost hanging off the table on each side!! It felt amazing to lay there, arms by my side comfortable and not have to worry about falling off!! to be honest the reason i havent had one since before surgery....cause I was totally embarassed that the guy doing it knew i was too heavy for the table!! Not any more!! I'll have to use this as a treat again when I get my next 50 lbs off!! (this was my 100lb treat, just got the nerve up to go!)

Hello, My name is NaNoska but everyone calls me NoNo. This is my very first post here and I am really excited! Almost all my life, I have been overweight and I tried everything under the sun to lose weight but was unable to do so. And so on March 25, 2013 is the day that forever changed my life. Before surgery I weighed at 236lbs and as of today I am at 190! I have lost 46lbs and 6 inches from sizes 22 to 16. I thanked God for giving me a second chance at life and health. I also want to thank my family and friends for their unconditional love and support throughout my journey. And last but not least, to my wonderful surgeon Dr. Michael Bono and staff of Hazelton General f…

I simply cannot understand going under the knife, having 85% of your stomach removed and a few months (or less) later, asking....."How long before I can have a soda?" That's simple, never. Or at least you never should. At the seminar I attended prior to surgery, I knew cokes were the ONLY thing he said NO to, no as in not in six weeks, six months or six years. I know there are some that cross that line, but why? I quit smoking fifteen years ago, a bad habit, an addiction, just like soft drinks are for some people. I have never wondered or considered going back. I did not stop smoking, just to start back up again a few months later. I was not a 'coke' person before, so t…

  10. Started by Lori Voss Green,

I just had my 10 month post op appointment today. I have lost 12 lbs since last month and am at a total loss of 88 lbs since surgery. I was feeling a bit frustrated when I went in because I am feeling SO HUNGRY in between meals. Within probably 2 hours of eating, I am so very hungry. I met with my nutrionist and we went over a lot of different things today, so hopefully we have gotten some things figured out in that department. I am obviously thrilled with the success so far though. I was a size 26 in jeans the day of surgery, and I am now a size 16. I was a size 3x in shirts, and I am now an XL (and they are actually a bit big really). I have absolutely no regrets about …

  11. It's hard for me to believe that I have lost 92lbs since beginning this journey in February 2012! I lost 30lbs before surgery just by starting to exercise and make better food choices and 62lbs since my lapband surgery August 1, 2012. I have to say this is the best thing I have ever done for myself and I have a completely different relationship with food. I went from a size 16-18 to a size 4-6. I am 6lbs away from my goal and although these last few pounds seem like they are taking forever, I am so happy with my results. It's not easy but it's so worth it!

  16. I had my sleeve done Monday morning, and came home on Tuesday. I was feeling pretty miserable both days. Yesterday was better, but I was still having some spasm pains in my stomach whenever I'd try to sip fluids. I think I got down 15 oz yesterday total. But today? AH-MAZING. Seriously. I feel GREAT! I went and spent the morning at my kid's school for last day celebration, and then we went to the park to play (well, they played and I sat on the bench). My Fluid is going down SO much easier - it's only 1pm and I've already had about 20 oz of Water and 5 oz of Protein shake. At this rate, I'll be running a half marathon by next week. Just kidding - but really I am supe…

  18. I cannot believe its been a year already! I have been emotional all day thinking about it. I had my 1 year check up today where they took a new photo of me, and gave me a before and after comparison. I was literally in shock when I saw it. To Celebrate, I bought myself a bike (have not ridden one in over 10 years). I also went to the DMV and got a new drivers license, with a new photo and my REAL weight on it - LOL! Today has been a great day. Can't wait to see what's next.

  19. So there I was ...330 pounds of exhausted, heavy breathing, high blood pressured, diabetic, sleep apnea laden, shell of his former self humanity. I had taken the "normal" way many times, the slippery slope of hundreds of diets, miracle cures, and sure fire programs only to tumble back down in a heap, more unhealthy than before. My wife began talking to me about weight loss surgery. She had been up that slope as many times as me and fell down with the same result. I was appalled that she would choose such a drastic step, I volunteered to hold a gun at her head at dinner time... in my mind the same as what she proposed. The batting of her big, beautiful eyes melted me dow…

  28. To the people that are starting out. This has been great. I had surgery July 26th. On Dec 25 I had lost 100 pounds. I am now 105 pounds lost. I am trying to stop me weight loss at this weight. Started out at 290 now 185. Doctor said I may level off at 180. I am skinny now. For me this has been very easy. No problems. Stalled for about 2 weeks at 205, then started dropping again. I want to thank Dr Clark for giving me my life back. Go & get this done!

However, I did the surgery January 18, 2013 . Well the dr said that I will feel different and be motivated once the pounds I lose. However, I'm 5 months since I did the surgery and I'm still the same way as before or even worse.i lost 50 pounds but I'm depressed and still eat a lot, junk food all day and lay all day. I have no motivation at all. Am I the only one here that has this problem? And I'm not losing weight because I eat alot and junk food all day. Uggg I give up. And I'm 26 year old female. I never thought I would be able to say I weigh 160 lbs!! It took me 2 yrs and 1 week but I made it. I started at 272 lbs on May 27th 2011. It has been a rough road at times but I did it! I have found a person inside me that I didnt even know existed. In the last year I have moved 900 miles and started a new life in my hometown after being away for 16 years. I would have never had the courage or self confidence to have done that before lapband. I am so excited to see whats next!

These past 7 months have been great & a lot of changes for that have made my life so much better. Wish I could of had this surgery done sooner in life , oh well , I'm living it up now. I can be that fun, energetic mom to my kids now. I can that happy wife to my husband , I can be proud of who I am & not be ashamed of letting myself go after having kids. I'm proud of what I've accomplished & who cares if I had surgery to solve the problem , I'm the one who took the risk , not anyone else. I'm the one healthy now. Here are my pics from before to the present.

  37. Good Morning Everyone, I’m officially 1 month out today. I am down 19 lbs and averaging 4.5 lbs a month. Total loss since starting journey is 58. Losing 1-2 lbs in the last 2 weeks. When I went to my doctor appointment on my 2 week post-op the coordinator told me that I would slow down to 1-2 lbs a week until about 2-3 months out and would then start losing a lot faster. She was so right. She is a WLS patient herself and she knows so much about what we’re going through. I’m feeling very well and energized most days. I take my vitamins and drink my water requirements most days. I always get at least 50 gms of protein in now, was very hard at first. I’m walking 1.6 miles …

When I was a kid playing little league football I had to play with kids 3 to 4 years older than myself to "make weight" This was the start of my struggle with my weight. When I got to Jr High I started power lifting and did that for a few years. I quit while in high school to get a job. It was at that point I started to pack on weight. I was used to consuming a large amount of calories for my physical activity and never scaled it back down after i quit. I quickly balloon up to 300lbs after graduating and getting a desk job. Fast forward to Nov…

For many years I looked in the bathroom mirror and saw the same (nonfat) image, but reflections in store windows, shadows cast on the ground and photographs told the truth. It was painful to look at myself and face the truth of my fatness. Now, I still see the same thing in the mirror, but I jump in front of the camera at every opportunity so I can view the real truth. As my body is changing, I can stand to look at my reflection and see the promise of what's to come. Is this a NSV? It sure feels like it. I'll have to dig deep to scrape up a before photo that hasn't been fat cropped, but looking forward to posting pix in a few months! Thank you to everyone on…

  41. So i started this process a little over a yr ago. I have lost not as fast as some but I have lost 80+ lbs and got bout 65 to go till i am where i think i want to be. Funny thing is I have went from a size 26 to a size 16 and this week got into a size reg 16 not a plus. But i still have a hard time seeing myself as being thinner. Yesterday I went and put on my scrubs once again and they was so big. I was how did this happen. So i pulled out a smaller size and they to was to big. I relized i have lost and lost and lost and stuck with my much bigger work uniforms. So i guess its time i start trying to buy smaller sizes and accept that this is the new me and I love it!!!
