So, I am just over 10 months post op and down 130 lbs or so, and today was the first time I have attempted a 5k race let alone a 5k obstacle course. A year ago this was not possible, today it was a blast! Not a good picture of me (the guy in the pic) since I am tucked behind the sign but that is not what this is about.....

I made it to under 200 lbs. I can't believe it. But I still don't feel 56 lbs lighter. Did anyone else feel this way?

Having RNY is the best thing I have ever done for myself! 6 months out and I have gone from 330 to 190 and still losing every week. 30 pounds away from my goal of 160. My only regret is that I did not have this surgery 10 years ago!

I am so excited. I actually like getting on the scale now. I'm looking good in my clothes. I am so happy with what I have done so far. My surgery was feb 5 of 2013 and I am looking forward to each day.

So my portion of procedure costs through my insurance is over $8k. I have been saving for two months already and had a little over 10% saved. Then my car broke down! I had to use my entire "car fund" and my "sleeve fund" to fix it. So totally bummed out right now. I feel like this will never happen for me.

Has anyone tried drinking carbonated drinks yet? Whether its orange juice, soda's, beer etc? Just wanted to know if so how long did it take before u can tolerate it. I'm 5 months after surgery.

How do you Celebrate LB or health-related victories? The old me celebrated with special meals or food-related treats? Do you buy something special for yourself that you've had your eye on? Just rejoice in the victory itself without a tangible reward? Thoughts???? Thanks!

As I am just beginning my journey post-op I've seen a lot of people relate it to being born again. I'm always looking for inspiration and thought I would share these words from Deepak Chopra: "You are [newly sleeved], right in the middle of a transitional phase. You relate as someone who is growing into a new person. That person won't fully appear for awhile. Yet the tendencies are already in evidence. Be gentle with this new person as she is being born. Be just as gentle with others. Realize that much more is going on beneath the surface than they are letting on. Associate with the most positive people in your group, not the most popular or the ones everybody envies an…

Can't believe I am already 6 months post op! While I will never forget where I started, it is starting to be a distant memory and my new life is better than I ever could have imagined!! The struggles in the beginning were worth it, after all who wouldn't have struggles when you do something like we have done. I just try and take it one day at a time, we all have our good days and bad, but you can't let one bad day overtake all the progress that has been made! Loving my sleeve still!
-
Had my sleeve 5/22. Started pre op diet 1 week earlier. Have lost 26lbs since start of pre op diet. Why am I not happy with that? Shouldn't I be? After everything to get here I guess my brain expected my body to be at goal when I got out of surgery. Lol! I can't be the only one dealing with this.....right?

Today I drive by the hospital where I was banded .and had to stop in. It has been 18 months since surgery and I remember them telling me nobody comes back and show them the results if what they had a hand in on surgery day. Did they remember me??? NO!!!! But they did remember the guy in the picture. I believe they were genuine when they thanked me for coming by.

I had my surgery on March 18th in Tijuana with Dr. Garcia. So far, everything has been great. I've lost 70 pounds, and I'm feeling awesome. I still have a long way to go, though.

I'll start with the update. I'm currently 389, which is 70lbs GONE FOREVER from my highest weight at the end of 2012. It's so exciting... it somehow seems less daunting to lose the weight since I got out of the 400s. I'm so happy and grateful for my progress so far! My weight loss isn't really showing IMO, and by that, I mean I don't think others are noticing it. I certainly am, but all my usual clothes still fit, there are some that are bigger than others, but some that were snug before and now just fit like they are supposed to. I can see that the clothes are looser, though - just not quite enough that it's time to start looking for smaller clothes. That will come so…

I haven't been on forever! After losing and gaining the same bit of weight I was getting extremely frustrated. Then I stopped and stayed at 138 for a few weeks... So I thought something has to give. My husband was trying a low sodium diet so I thought why not try it out? He recently quit smoking and had gained a few pounds and wanted to get the pounds off before vacation. I have been doing this eating plan for about 10 days and have lost 5 pounds, he has lost 10. I stepped on the scale and it said 133! I stared at it probably for a full minute and my eyes filled with tears. I wasn't even this thin in high school! Not that it's just about the numbers, I can't believe how g…

While I was driving my daughter to school today, she was being a bit weird and became silent. I asked her what was wrong and she said, " Ok, I am just gonna say it. You look weird to me". I asked her what she meant by that and she replied, "I am used to seeing my big, fat, old, cheery mom and not this skinnier old cheery mom." So, I instantly retorted that I was not old, just old-ER than her. I also thanked her for the compliment on my weight loss and reminded her that I was still the same cheery person. She said it was gonna take some time to get used to seeing me shrink. HAHAHA! That made my day and I hope it lasts all week.

I have been in "the process" to get the sleeve since October 2012. I have done all the things that they required me to do! Now, I recieved THE call this morning that I am approved and the date they gave me is now OFFICIAL! The problem is as I waited I was so pumped and doing EVERYTHING they required but after the nurse called me I AM COMPLETELY SCARED and I said, "this is really happening". I have never been this full of emotions in my life...Im scared, im nervous, im anxious, im worried, im confused, im happy and some other things I cant even express, but WHY? I have come this far to feel like THIS, I dont get it

How I lost 102 pounds 8 Easy Secrets of My 102-Pound Weight-Loss Success I was banded in February of 2009 and just shy of 2 years later, in December of 2011, I reached my goal weight! I started at 225 pounds, a size 22/24. In December I reached 123 pounds and a size 2/4. I wrote this little excerpt in the hopes of helping some newly-banded people as they start their journey. I hope this doesn't seem too cheesy! Please let me know if any of you have any questions of need any help. It's hard not to compare my weight loss this time versus all the attempts at weight loss that I've made in the past. What am I doing differently this time versus previous…

I have to vent...it's so aggravating when people get this surgery and then complain that its been 2 days and they didn't lose 100 pounds. Maybe we all have different expectations, but I can't believe people who have just had the surgey and are upset they only lost a "few pounds". This isn't a cure all, miracle...it's hard work and it takes time. I didn't gain 140 pounds in a night....and I am not going to wake up in recovery 140 pounds lighter. I am very happy with my success...but I think I have to leave this forum as there is way too much negativity and I am only about positive things now. Sorry...just so frustrated reading these posts.

Just have to tell. I made it. I made it!! I'm at my goal weight! It took 2 and 7 months to lose 178 lbs. I'm not skinny by anyone's standard. I'm normal. Normal! HOORAY!! I can shop in the front of the store, I can walk great distances. I can leap tall buildings with a single bound.. oh wait. Can't do that just yet. But give me a couple of months! Haha! You guys helped me all along the way. Thank you so much for all the support.
