Sleevers by profession.
I'm a Web Communications Specialist for a health care quality improvement website under contract for The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services...so by default I sort of work in health care helping doctors and clinics get the info they need to better serve Medicare patients, save the gov't some money and meet health care quality measures. May sleevers! How much have you lost so far?
I truly don't understand how people are losing so much post surgery. Is it because they haven't restricted their calories and carbs and yo-yo dieted for years? I would imagine if I was eating several thousand calories before surgery I might be losing quicker. Oh well, nothing I can do now but be grateful for the 40 lbs I have lost in the last 6 months. Itchy after eating?
Hmm, well you can spontaneously become allergic to things that you didn't use to have an allergy to. That happened to me with pennicillin. If you isolate your food you might be able to figure out if that is causing it. Otherwise maybe try a Benadryl everyday (if it doesn't put you to sleep) if the itching is bothering you. What did you eat today :) ?
Well unlike some posters I really havent lost my hunger. If I don't eat about every 3 hours my stomach starts getting growly. Today I had: Breakfast- lite and fit greek yogurt, 10 raw almonds Lunch-half a turkey sausage pizza made on flat out wrap and about a third cup of cottage cheese (over an hour & a half) Snack-Premier Protein shake Dinner-?? I'll prob be pretty hungry after going to play tennis. I'm usually around 800-900 calories, 60+ protein and less than 40 carbs. Mouth
I've actually noticed that every time I am on a low carb diet that I get really bad tooth sensitivity. I don't know what the correlation is. Starting Weight: 270, Surgery Weight: 251, Two-Week Post-op Weight: 241, Four-Week Post-op Weight: 235

$25000 Surgery Cost, what did you pay?
There's no way I couldve done that out of pocket either. My insurance paid for all but my $550 deductible. Starting Weight: 270
Surgery Weight: 251
Two-Week Post-op Weight: 241

May sleevers! How much have you lost so far?
I've noticed that people who did a two-week pre-op diet tend to lose less weight the first month post-op, but I have a feeling that is just our body trying to figure everything out! Starting Weight: 270
Surgery Weight: 251
Two-Week Post-op Weight: 241

Wow! I still can't believe how different these numbers are between the different hospitals... Starting Weight: 270
Surgery Weight: 251
Two-Week Post-op Weight: 241- Words of wisdom to new sleevers
As I am just beginning my journey post-op I've seen a lot of people relate it to being born again. I'm always looking for inspiration and thought I would share these words from Deepak Chopra: "You are [newly sleeved], right in the middle of a transitional phase. You relate as someone who is growing into a new person. That person won't fully appear for awhile. Yet the tendencies are already in evidence. Be gentle with this new person as she is being born. Be just as gentle with others. Realize that much more is going on beneath the surface than they are letting on. Associate with the most positive people in your group, not the most popular or the ones everybody envies and imitates." Have a great new day!
