I will be 7 months post op on the 13th... just wanted to say that things are going great. I have tons of energy! I have fallen in love with going to my local YMCA and working out. I've lost 90 lbsand several clothes sizes. Along the way I've lost a few friends....cause I am not the "fat friend" anymore. But I have gained experience and new friends who are on the same path I am.

This surgery has been a lifesaver not only for my but for my family too! My husband has lost 50lbs, my 16 year old has lost about 25 lbs. And we all eat healthier than we ever have. I started this journey for the benefit of the hubby and daughter mainly, because If Mom's not fit....neither are they! But I have to say that during the preop journey and now the postop journey I have gained confidence back, I think more clearly about healthy choices and how to move more. And am generally in a much better frame of mind and body!

As an added bonus the Dr. who did my surgery also goes to the same YMCA I do.... (We both work for the same hospital system....and membership is a perk for us!) so seeing him there motivates me to work hard and show him just how much appreciate him doing my surgery...and I dont want to waste a day not using my "tool" to the very best I can.

If you havent had surgery and are reading this... BEST OF LUCK to you... DO IT! The surgery isnt an "easy" way out...it is by far the hard way. The pain afterwards will fade...and a new life will take it's place quickly. You'll see things in a whole new light!!

If you have had surgery already and are reading this.... lets keep going!! Thank you for sharing your story with me, I keep reading and making notes of things others go through and try to do or avoid those things. Your story inspires me to continue on this journey till I reach my goal!

I truly think this is what it's about ! Reclaiming your life , and if you can impact someone else positively in the process, than so be it !

You are welcome. I was nervous too, but pressed onward and I am SO happy I did!! Looking back the only regret I have is not doing this years ago!! The preop time is a great time to get things in "order".... to start making positive changes like eating healthy, exercising and learning to put yourself and your needs above everything else. I spent way too much time making sure everyone else had what they needed or did what they should....that I forgot that if I dont take care of me...who will???

Enjoy the preop stage, relax...all will be fine! I hope your surgery goes as well as mine, your recovery is short and you lose all you want to!!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
