I had my band surgery in October 2007 at 278lbs. Overall, I have been very successful. In the first year and half or so, I lost about 150 lbs. My last fill was four years ago. Over the last for years I maintained somewhere between 118-120. I still haven't had any other plastic surgeries to remove excess skin, but it wasn't terrible since I got a trainer who understood the band and helped me shape up as I was dropping the weight. I had issues here and there, but most of them occurred if I made a bad food choice or happened to be sick or stressed. It seems the band is sometimes affected by any little thing that cause physical or mental stress. At least that's been my expe…

So let me get this straight....I'm home....no sugar no carbs no caffeine hardly any alcohol work out five days a week....stuck at same weight for three weeks. Go out of town eat a bunch of shit all day for five times a day don't work out drink alcohol come back… Lost 3 pounds. WTF? How my supposed to keep making progress when my body is an asshole and makes no sense at all? Only thing I can deduce from this exercise is that maybe I wasn't eating enough before or I was gaining muscle before as well…#mybodyiscray #annoyed #53lbsdown #20togo

Hello Everyone! So I'm very new to this online support forum, and I already feel as though I know a bunch of you guys already! Reading your stories and comments has been amazing. My medical coverage is through Kaiser Permanente, and I attended their general information session and my PCP placed a bariatric referral which was approved (referral only, not necessarily the surgery). I am scheduled to attend an actual orientation this week on Thursday, and I feel like I'm already counting down the days. My partner will accompany me to provide support and ask a TON of questions (she's still in that "Are you sure you haven't tried everything possible for your weight?" pa…

Birthday countdown (24) more days.. So I've set a (10) pound wt loss goal. Went grocery shopping for necessary food items I need in order to reach this goal because what you eat plays such a BIG part in your weight loss success, as well as your portion size. Reading labels, fooducate, my fitness pal, goggle, and you tube have been playing a BIG part in helping me stay on track and give me healthy choices and great ideas, yes it's that serious!! I cheat here and there but in moderation.... So today I'm making me a apple pecan raspberry chicken salad, only thing is I forgot to buy spinach[emoji16][emoji31]

I just started my week of full liquids. I am so happy with my decision to do this surgery, even with only 50% family support. I've healed well, walked as much as possible, and am in no pain unless I push my stomach muscles too hard (sitting/ laying to standing without using my arms to help me). I can officially say I'm sick of the liquid diet. Ha ha almost three weeks of just liquids really gets to you. I'm happy I get to start working on things like Protein shakes and cream of wheat! I had my 1 week surgeon check up this morning, he says I'm healing wonderfully and I'm ahead of schedule on my weight loss (23# in 16 days) I feel fantastic! I highly recommend the I…

Can't believe the time has come and the foooood has stopped. I have started my liquid diet today and must say the premier protein shakes from Costco are not too bad. I loaded up on steak and salad the last week as I know these are foods I may not be able to tolerate after surgery...diary of a foodie I know. I start at 330 lbs and have a goal of Onederland. My life will be forever changed and I am ready for that change. I am ready to feel comfortable in my own skin. I am ready to be able to ride an airplane and not worry if the seatbelt will fit. I am ready to ride bumper boats and go carts with my son And not feel ashamed that I am over the weight limit. I am posting my p…

I'm forty-four years old, and had gastric bypass surgery May 6th, 2006. The first time I remember being called "fat"was when I was about eight years old at the skating rink and fell, causing the skinny girl behind me to trip. "GET OUT OF MY WAY FATTY!", she yelled. I was heartbroken and cried my eyes out. From then on, I never felt like I quite measured up to everyone else because of my weight. I battled with my weight from then on, going on every fad diet known to man. I probably lost and gained five thousand pounds. I lost down to 116 lbs my senior year in high school because I was eating 500 calories a day. I would come home from school and go to bed until the next day…

August 22, 2006..I remember that day like it was yesterday. I arrived at the hospital so happy so excited so full of joy and ready to prove my doctor WRONG. You see my pre-op weight was 416lbs and the surgeon wanted me to undergo a gastric bypass or a duodenal switch (which I don't think they do anymore) because my BMI was so high. But at that time I was only 20 years old no serious medical issues and my mother didn't want me to have either of those surgeries so lapband it was. Moreover, my bariatric doctor made it very clear that I wasn't going to lose any weight and in two years I'd be back for a gastric bypass. Fast forward a few years and I was making tremendous pr…

Happy 7 year Bandiversary to all my St Patrick's Day lapband buddies that called ourselves the Shrinking Shamrocks! For March 2008. Still glad I made this choice and though my own choices resulted in some weight regain, I'm still 75-80 lbs less than my pre-surgery weight in 2008. I'm trying hard to pull my choices in line including getting the exercise my surgeon emphasized from Day 1. Have a great day!

Hi guys! Hope you're all well! I used to be on here quite often, but have been coming on less and less recently. I was 24 stone and got down to 15.9...then I met my boyfriend (excuses, excuses ) and when things got more settled between us I started to get a bit TOO comfortable and relaxed food-wise... I just went to healthier weight for a fill yesterday after not having one for a whole year and I have managed to put on a stone and a half! I got a fill which means I now have 9.2ml in 10ml band and so I am well and truly back on the bandwagon after allowing my weight to creep up and giving myself a true case of the fear! I decided to come back on here to get some con…

I hit my 1 year on Saturday! It's crazy how fast it went! I've lost about 110 lbs, gone from a 28 to a 16 in pants and am a lot more active than I ever was! I'm definitely still a work in progress with 35-40 lbs to go and I'm still learning, especially now that it's not so easy to lose but I couldn't be happier [emoji2]

Well day 2 was a workout. Was so happy to be able to drink. Sipping on water felt great, my mouth felt like a cotton ball. Didn't even think I could even get the water down. When they showed up with apple juice I went crazy. Sipped away but yikes ...... adding that to the fluid I had to drink for the x-ray cause what felt like a bomb in my gut ready to blow up. Very uncomfortable, spent the rest of the day walking doing the breathing exercises trying to get any kind of relief. Feeling a wide range of feeling like, oh my God what did I do........ well day three is better and I remember reading each day gets better. Well folks I agree. Today is better. I am heading…

Hi all... I was wondering if someone has experienced this or similar... I was banded on the 13th of April. I have stuck to the liquid diet for 2 weeks after... However during this second week I haven't lost a thing. I have a busy job m, so constantly on my feet, my calorie input is less than my output. I eat (or drink rather) either Protein shakes of LF Soups. If I were on a 'normal' diet I'm sure I would have loads at least a pound. I'm just a little concerned... Any thoughts would be great... Many thanks x Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

My journey started when i was diagnosed with type 2 Diabeties (5/25/2016) . Sucks rocks right no worse, my dad died of this or just the tip of the iceberg. Weight was 265 middle of June, with a BMI of 43.6. NOT good to say the least. Said to myself , girl you need change!! My PCP has done all he could do for me and told me to see a bariatrics doctor. So with no further a do I did. Doctor says you know your insurance won't pay fir those shakes your eyeing. That's just a quick fix. Quickly he asks me how much do I want to lose???? Ummmm 90 pounds! . Well he said "I've got the perfect surgery for you then. He proposed the sleeve and asked me to stop by the clinic t…

My family were tested and we all became the first family in the world, my mother is the carrier my older sister has it, her son and myself. My father and grandmother were tested but both were negative, my mothers two brothers were tested and were also negative, my grandfather had died before I was diagnosed. I was only diagnosed because a doctor, I had been called a liar by meny doctors previous to this, looked at me and my mum and said " you don't eat much do you, let's start from …

My name is Claudia. I am 36 years old. I live in Las Vegas. I weighed 300 lb. I knew I was over weight had alot of back problems fatty liver disease and knee problems. I was unhappy because I couldn't fit into the clothes I wanted to fit in. I tried on my own and failed. I finally decided to get weight loss surgery. Only after I went swimming with my kids and my 12 yr old was embarrassed of me. He told a new kid he just met that his mom was not there. That broke my heart. After that I started my journey into the weight loss surgery. I went to the seminar and was told I would only be able to eat small , drink Water constantly and not to eat and drink @ the same time.I was…

I have tried the chocolate cupcake before, but today I thought I would try the pumpkin and Spice Protein powder that I bought last Thanksgiving. I put a scoop in my mug and mixed in an egg, a 1/4 tsp of baking soda, and tablespoon of almond milk. I left it in the microwave for 1 1/2 minutes and ate it warm in the cup with some light whip cream. I will be doing that for my afternoon snack again. MMMMMMMM 220 calories, but no carbs, and 30 grams of protein.

Hi there! My name is Felix and I just had my gastric sleeve done this past Tuesday (4/26). After almost a full year of dieting, nutritionist visits, follow-ups and what not my voyage to a healthier life has begun. I am coping with the pain involved in the first initial days post op and I have the full support of my family. I was at 397lbs and at the time of surgery I weighed 342lbs. Now mh main goal is to follow the doctor's instructions and stay hydrated, take my pain medicine, walk around the house and do my breathing exercises. My surgery was performed on Wednesday and I was home the next day. I have found that I cannot eat popsicles because the super cold liquid hurts my tummy. So far, the Protein drinks are ok ... As long as I let them warm up a bit and drink them slow but they tend to give me gas. Lol. I walk a bit around my house, but I have a tendency to try to do too much so I haven't gone outside to walk yet. I'm excited to see where I go from here. So week 5. Almost to 6!!! But they still want me to eat every 2 hours and get 42 grams of Protein. I'm barely getting my Water. I'm feeling over full (I think it's the combination of the two). I will admit I'm happier now, before I couldn't take the shakes, retried Beans etc so I wasn't eating. Any advise? Ive always have been a picky eater. So just trying to get the protein from the foods I do like. (meat and potatoes were my go to for every meal now I eat meat and try to cut out the sides. But I always feel like I'm missing something.) thanks for reading!!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Just sharing my experience with pregnancy and lap band. I had lapband through True Results about 2 years ago. I tipped the scales around 300lbs. At surgery time I was around 281. My lowest weight I reached was 206. At that weight I ended up being dehydrated and as far as food went, it wasnt an option. I had 8ccs and no food wnet down. But I was losing weight so I was happy. I had some fluid removed to about 6ccs then I became pregnant. My weight shot up to 271lbs at the time I had my daughter was Jan. 1, 2016. I am currently at 223 lbs. I developed severe acid reflux in my pregancy. I thought it was normal. I found out my band has almost slipped. I had to have all the flu…

I was chatting with an old time friend and he asked how much weight I've lost. I went from 298 surgery day to 195 at the moment. He complimented me and at the same time says "I'm a little jealous but I want to do it the hard way by going to the gym" Really? I replied this wasn't easy! Many people think it is but that's their own ignorance speaking. Surgery is a tool, if you don't use it correctly it won't work.

I cannot get out of my head the feeling of what happens if I truly feel like I am choking and cannot breathe. Am I just overthinking? Tesa
