I got sleeved on April 7th. I was 198 lbs the day of surgery and I'm 5'1. Iv been so depressed and regretting the choice Iv made but can't take it back now I have only lost 10 lbs since surgery. I hardly eat due to the hassle of it. I can't believe something I use to enjoy doing so much I now dred the thought of. I've lost more weight faster just buy dieting alone. I feel terrible for what iv done to myself especially with no results. I know weight loss was going to be slow for me but not this slow. Any one else have these issues? My surgery is tomorrow. I have had two surgeries prior to this, both were on my mouth. This will actually be a shorter surgery but much more invasive and I am terrified. I keep telling myself that I can continue the way I am going now and be guaranteed a short, miserable life. I guess it's a minor victory that I haven't sought out comfort foods. Hi! This is my first post. I've enjoyed reading through all the fabulous posts. I'm posting now because I have my first WLS visit with the Surgeon on 1/7/2016. A little about me. Divorced for 8 years. Two grown children who are happily off living their own lives. I work full time as a nightshift RN. Three 12 hour shifts a week plus the occasional OT. I've been off and on about having WLS. I actually filled out the online application a year ago but canceled the appt. I ignored my weight for yet another year. When my clothes got tighter, my energy level tanked, my knees/back hurt and I was breathless climbing a flight of stairs, I got back on the scale and saw the 25 …

I am just past 5 weeks post op and I have started lifting heavy weights again! I am curious to hear how anybody else has done with weight lifting after gastric sleeve surgery! Are you able to build muscle? Does it take longer to build muscle then before? I am a lot weaker than I was when when I started lifting before surgery which I expected. I am just hoping it doesn't take me a lot longer to build muscle now that I have had the surgery. I am doing my best to get as much Protein in as possible! Hello, I've only been out from surgery for 3 weeks. I had surgery on March 23, 2016. I started at 245 lbs and after the two week pre-op high Protein / low carb diet i dropped to 233 lbs. That is what i weighed on the day of surgery. Since then I have lost an additional 17 lbs and today weigh 216lbs. For the most part i have had low energy but recently received a Vitamin B shot and am taking additional B12 10,000mcg sublingual supplements. This seems to be working as i am able to do some boxing workout and today did some treadmill work. I run two non-profit organizations and help several others. One of the organizations which i am Executive Director of helps A…

I attended a educational seminar on bariatric surgery first step on 4/16, and my first appointment is on May 2nd I'm nervous but excited to start my new journey. Alot of people are against me having surgery saying I'm going to regret it and just eat less exercise but I've been dealing with weight since I was a little kid until now (I'm 22 and weigh 330 pounds) I've tried diets, met with nutritionist, even tried to starve myself . I CAN NOT believe it has been over 3 months from my surgery. Anyone who is thinking about getting this surgery, or in the beginning stages....STAY POSITIVE! I suffer from severe anxiety and this journey has been awful. Days after my surgery I was so depressed about my choice. I wanted to go back to my surgeon and have him put my stomach back in. I was having anxiety attack after panic attack daily. I was so depressed that I took such a drastic step and cut my stomach out!!! But...looking back. I wouldn't change my decision for the world. I haven't been this happy in YEARS. I had a series of traumatic events happen which left me at my low point and I was addicted to food. …

Introducing myself My name is Jenn. When I had gastric sleeve surgery on February 29th, 2016 I weighed 329. I started my pre op diet on February 8th (weighing 349). As of this morning I'm down to 299 lbs!! I feel so much better just losing what I have lost so far. I move better, park farther away from stores and just feel motivated. I have a question though, what do you do for exercise? How do you move? How often? What keeps you motivated? Thanks!! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using the BariatricPal App

I am 4 years out. Last 2 years I have really upped my exercises. I'm a little OCD with it really...but I initially lost the weight below my goal but d once exercising so much my hips and thighs have gotten bigger because of the extra skin and I had to get a size bigger pants too to accommodate them. I am just obsessed with them now and just can't seem to accept them as I should...anyone else have this issue? How did you learn to not hate yourself but love your ever evolving body?! Wowowow! I am feeling wonderful! I've been home for 5 days, had my surgery 7 days ago, and I've already lost almost 15lbs! I just felt like sharing... I'm feeling pretty amazing, to be honest! I didn't have a perfect surgery. I had spleen bleeding, doc had to "shave" my liver for fat, and I had a hernia that I didn't even know about, so she fixed that too! I am beyond shocked that the pain only lasted a few days, and now I'm just managing being a bit tired, and making sure to get all my liquids and protein! (Sunday was the first day I could do this!) To all of you who are pre-op and were nervous, like me, BREATHE EASY! It gets better!! The first few days are prett…

Good evening. This is my first post. I was sleeved on March 7th (7.5 weeks ago) and have only lost 20 pounds (10 of which i lost week 1). This means that I've lost only 1.5 pounds a week for the last 6.5 weeks. I eat approximately 1000 calories per day, not bad food, but I graze the 1000 calories as I feel hungry. I am afraid that I am the one person who will fail. I also have trouble drinking 64 oz of Water a day but never have less than 48 oz. Advice on how to get on track?

I'm 4 weeks post op. I feel no pain. I feel active. I went swimming and it felt great. I eat normal food (no carbs or hard food yet) and it feels great. I sometimes have a weird feeling that something is not right because i feel so normal. I feel nauseous now and then but still i feel normal. Sometimes i have strange gas noises coming from my stomach but it doesn't hurt or anything it just feels weird. I am scared of a thing called (undetected leaks) since I went swimming and my child jumbed on my stomach. I get the feeling that there is something wrong even though i feel ok. I have struggled with my weight my entie life! My birth family was a red hot mess. Father was a Vietnam War Vet and as a result became an alcholic, a very violent one at that. He beat us and was emotionally and verbally abusive. Quite the monster, but that's what war does to people! My mother was mentally ill and very young. She had 12 kids all less than 10 months apart. Unable to cope with all the abuse and all those kids with no help, she abandonded us after my father took off. I was in foster care most of my early years. The sexual abuse began then. Fortunately I was adopted at age 8. That's when the food addiction began. Fearful that I would be moved again I ate any …

Hi all , Just got back from Tijuana yesterday . My surgery was on the 19th and all went well . There are a couple of things that I would recommend to folks going down south . First make sure that you have your translate app installed on your phone before you go . The nurses are good but there could be better communication. We found that if you stay strict to the pre op diet you have a less chance of nausea and gas . There were some folks that ate before the surgery like pizza and hotdogs and were very uncomfortable! so stay on task ! We were at the Marriott and the service was great ! The thing was ,what they had for the patience was horrible. The broth was like a…

I am 3 years post op. Have lost 125 lbs. and maintaining. I've only gotten sick once on over eating. But water kills me. I drink like a gallon a day, some days no problem, others I will get sever pain, can't breathe and mouth will start watering heavily like I'm going to throw up. And sometimes I do. The whole process takes about 15 minutes of pure torture. After the pain subsides or I do throw up I can go on with my day. It doesn't matter if I take little sips or gulp, results same. Has this happened to anyone else?

Hi everyone Just thought I'd share my VSG story with you all. Though my story is not as positive as most other posts are, I will say right now that I don't want anyone to use this as a reason to not get the surgery done. If anything, use my story to better your story. I've STRUGGLED with my weight all. my. life. On top of that dealing with asthma, allergies, PCOS, Metabolic Syndrome, fluctuating thyroid levels, diagnosed with type 2 diabetes (which took them a shocking while to determine whether I was type 1 or 2) by the age of 14. I've been seeing doctors regarding weight issues and trying to avoid it since I was around 7/8 years old. So literally this has all been …

Ok so thing have been going good. I haven't had any nausea or vomiting (thank the Lord). Just surgery pain. Well on Post-op day 3 I cleaned the kitchen and was feeling normal. So I did a bad thing. I cooked some scrambled eggs. They looked so good. We'll I took 3 bites and was so nauseating FULL. I went to lay down. Took a Phenergan and passed out til today. Woke up groggy. I wanted real food so bad but I went too fast. I feel good now but I jumped ahead and I won't do it again. So tonight I stuck with my Soup and Jello and did fine. NewSleevedKellyRN

Hello everyone! I'm new to this forum and I wanted to share with you all my gastric bypass journey thus far. I've pretty much been overweight since my two pregnancies. And it wasn't until I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia that the weight really started to pour on and life became a constant battle. I was on 5 different medications, which really didn't help with the weight gain. After about 3 years of medication increases, I decided enough was enough! I began researching Gastric Bypass on the internet. I had the support of my family and friends and my rheumatologist. I sought out a doctor in Montreal and this is where my journey began. I'm 5'1" and weighed 245 lbs. It …

Hi everyone, my name is Kayla. I'm a 30 year old musician, singer, wife, and mother. My Gastric sleeve procedure is scheduled for 4/27. I wasn't always as big as I am. (HW:314) in fact, when I met my husband nearly 12 years ago, I weighed 129lbs. At 5'8" that's kind of the low end weight-wise, but I wasn't healthy. Once I felt safe and loved, I let go and started eating again... Like mad. I ate on 150lbs in two years... I went up and down from there. So for the last decade, I've been hovering, on average, between 280 and 300. I did get down to 220 after becoming a vegetarian for a year and a half after a bad case of food poisoning (as with many of us, I have some issue…
