For 3 days I have stepped on the scale and the first number was a ONE!! I waited 3 days to post because I was convinced my scale was pranking me! The last time I weighed <200 was 12+ years ago in elementary school or early junior high. I'm so unbelievably excited that this is real! I can't believe I weighed almost 100lbs more than I do right now just a year ago. Highest weight/SW: 297.6 lbs Surgery 1/18/16: 267.6 lbs GW: 150 lbs Current weight: 198.4 lbs!!!!!! I was so nervous to travel out of state for memorial weekend. Love to travel but being 2 months post op my first thought was "what the heck do I eat"? Now that I'm over that initial fear I'll opt for chicken, bunless burger and some (tossed) salad. What will you be eating? "In the end we only regret the chances that we didn't take."

I was sleeved on 5/10....hw 200, sw 187, cw 177 I am feeling good and just wanted to post some pics. I was sleeved in Tijuana by Dr Ortiz and am grateful for this "reboot" to my body! I begin puréed food today and am in the midst of a move about 50 miles away-gotta keep it crazy, right?! I will probably stick mostly to shakes cuz I can't think about another thing. Btw-one of my main reasons for wanting this is that a disease called transverse myelitis hit me 2.5 years ago and the chronic nerve pain left me quite sedentary. Nothing like a spinal cord injury to thrust u into the reality that our health should not be taken for granted! This is me taking some power back. …

Being an RN I was fully aware of the fact that the sleeve is major surgery. However part of me thought my procedure would be routine because I did everything perfectly. I didn't cheat once on my pre op instructions, etc. Yet here I sit, with major swelling due to a bled and having to have 2 transfusions. Thankfully the nausea and gas pains have subsided but the pain from the massive bruising is what hurts now. Now it's just wait and see. Thank you for reading my self pity whine. I am now 10 weeks and 4 days post op and I'm down a grand total of 100lbs. HW: 333 (Feb 9, 2016) SW: 287 (March 21, 2016) CW: 233 It's pretty amazing to have lost 100 lbs in just under 4 months total. I feel good, and obviously look better. The good: I am almost completely off BP meds. I called the doctor this AM to get off the last pill - my reading today was 110/66. I can shop in normal stores. I am wearing 2XL/XL clothing and 40/42 pants Flying - having 4-6 inches of spare seatbelt and the tray table going down easily is awesome I have a near endless ability to walk. Something I never considered is that you should not really tire out after a mile …

Hello all, I am a Newbie. Before my surgery i weighed 267 and surgery was May 12 and i currently weigh 247 and for 1 1/2 weeks ,I have not lost anything. I have maintained 247-246.6 Is this normal?, I have read about the stretching of the pouch, and not chewing your food as fast and drinking Water at the same time. And since i have been reading so much about it ,im scared i will stretch my pouch. Now when i was loosing a pound a day i was not really eating, just like 3 table spoons of Jello and 3 sips of broth if that and water. I have now incorporated cottage cheese, hummus here and there and what ever i cook like maybe 4 Table spoons of.. Not sure if i need to…

I think I may be.... Lactose intolerant. Pre VSG, cheese was my favorite food. So if that's true, I'm a sad sad girl. Last night, I had a couple of bites of sugar free pudding. About ten minutes later, I started getting horrible stomach cramps and had to make a (multiple) visit to my porcelain throne. It lasted all night and I still don't feel right this morning. Do you think it's the lactose? I ate puréed broccoli and cheddar Soup all day yesterday with no problem, so I'm confused! Any ideas what happened? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Hi, those reading this. I'm nineteen years old (I actually had my birthday a week ago today), and I'm seriously, seriously considering getting the sleeve. I'm not paying for the surgery myself, I'm getting help from both my parents, since my insurance doesn't cover the surgery. I'm not sure what I weight right now because I've always been scared of the scale, but I know I weight around the 360s, and I'm almost 5'10 (my bmi is in the 50s). Currently, I don't have any physical health problems, such as diabeteies or high cholesterol, but I know I'm very close to having health problems. But I have definitely been affected by my weight psychologically with the way I view…

I have read so much on here and had really wished to connect to someone else having the Sleeve tomorrow. I picked my name because of my hair color and I was a stay at home mom. (Red goddess) anyway, tomorrow is the big day. Today I have been doing the whole colon cleanse thing and on liquid diet. The berry flavored mag. citrate was not bad. So much better than the go litly stuff I had to drink (1 gal) before a colonoscopy. This was a walk in the park. I am very nervous and second guessing myself. At a meeting I attended on post op sleever said he had "buyers remorse". I hear that is common and passes fairly soon yet I still wonder if I could have done it (diet) successful…

Finally, after dealing with insurance nightmares, I was approved and surgery was scheduled for May 23, 2016. I was so excited! My surgeon didn't require any pre-op diets or requirements so all I had to do was wait. Fast forward to today. It's 3:00am, I can't sleep. I have GERD or esophageal spasms, or somethings going on - no idea what. Back pain and joint pain that make sleeping impossible. I feel weak, dizzy, lightheaded, and my belly itches like crazy! I'm just now able to eat pureed foods, but am scared. I have no idea how much to eat or what I should eat. I have trouble getting all my Water and Protein requirements met and I throw up after taking my Vitamins. …

I've been watching vsg journey vids on YouTube and seen 1 of a guy who had vsg surgery in Chicago and he's now 2half years out and can eat a steak meal, he said a 10oz steak with baked potato and veg. How is this even possible? I also watched that DR wiener vid and he says that research shows that after 5 years bariatric patients can eat a full plate of food, anyone else heard similar things? Hello, everyone! I am so very new to all of this. I just found out that I have to do a 6 month physician supervised diet for insurance purposes. I'm so sad! I've already been attempting to diet through Weight Watchers, then a personal trainer at the YMCA, then a weight loss group at the Y... but none of it counts for this requirement. No one just wakes up one say and notices, "Hey, I'm fat! I think I'll try surgery first." Lol. So frustrating. Did you have to do this? How did it work for you? Thank you!

I am a recent post op patient of the Gastric Sleeve. I had back surgery in February and as a result of that my surgeon advised me to loose weight so my spine wouldn't collapse. I lost 45 lbs since Dec 15th. He still wanted me to lose more. He sent me to Dr. Brian Chin and I had the sleeve May 23rd. My pre surgery weight was 266 and my weight today was 255. This is difficult for me as I am a private person but I read a book written by Alex Brecher and decided I would go on this website. I am hoping that reading the stories of others will help me with my journey. It seems like a really good source for finding answers to your questions. Thank you.

I'm still in the pre-op stages, but I'm curious if anyone has experienced career growth or success that they believe is correlated to their weight loss? I am at a career plateau at the moment where I'm on the cusp of a breakout into management, but I often times feel like my weight either deters me from taking control of certain situations and opportunities; or other people do not see past my weight and respect me as a businesswoman. I often think about all the things I would do if I were not overweight, self-conscious, and in pain all of the time. One of them is definitely to be fearless and take control of my career. I'm just curious if anyone has realized this type…

I just had my first visit with my surgeon 1 week ago and had the work up and visit with nutritionist Wednesday....my BMI is 40.3 with slightly elevated HTN, A1C of 6.1 and high cholesterol. I am an RN and very excited to get this process started to healthier new me. I have a tentative date of 4/27, pending insurance approval but I already know they will approve it. I'm not gonna lie, I was getting depressed. Real depressed. See, I was in a stall. Yeah yeah we should embrace them. Well, the embracing lasted for all of a week, then shyt got real. The second week rolled around, and then the third...... I'm not sure if it was lack of carbs, or this whole stall thing.....but I have been a beotch. Today makes 9 weeks post op. I reluctantly hop on the scale. After a long 4 weeks...I'm a beautiful 5 pounds down. <---THAT....I can embrace. And yes, I am performing another interpretive dance number called.... So, today was my consultation with my surgeon. I was so nervous because I was supposed to lose 25 pounds and I've only lost 22. BUT everything went well. We discussed which surgery was right for me and he agreed with me when I said I wanted bypass surgery. I'm a sugar freak and he agreed that the bypass was the better choice. He explained a few things I already knew, I asked all the questions I needed to ask. My number one concern was... When can I go to Disneyland? Lol. He said right after but please please please remember to drink drink drink or you'll end up in the hospital the next day for dehydration. Anyway, my surgery date is May 24, but I am on the cancellation l…

Hi everyone! My name is Angie I'm from Alabama, and I had my sleeve surgery done in September 2015. I had a couple of severe reactions during and after surgery. While in surgery my Surgeon was repairing a hernia before my sleeve, after he finished that he went to start the sleeve and realized I was bleeding internally bad. He had another Surgeon to come in because out of the 400+ surgery's he had never experienced anything like this So they ended up opening me from my bellybutton to the bottom of my breast. They found an artery on my spleen that had been cutt, and my surgeon was very honest and forthcoming with me about it and my husband, they actually came out during s…

Although I am still a few months away from surgery I am trying to change my eating habits. I've had challenges over the last few weeks with parties and have done fairly well. This weekend we are headed to Lake Winnipesaukee and typically it's a food fest for 3 days. I am very prepared - brought protein shakes, cucumbers, celery, tomatoes, hummus, cheese, tuna, berries, broccoli salad, and hamburgers. Of course, I also have tortellini salad, muffins and chips for everyone else. Bring it on! ????????????????????

Hi everyone, I have been struggling with weight gain weight loss for the past six years. My highest was 230 and was able to loose about 20 lbs with diet and exercise but then the weight loss stopped despite of changing the entire diet and exercise. Currently I am 210 pounds, 5 3". Today was 8 weeks since my surgery on March 28. My clothes have been getting extremely too big on me and I realized in a picture that was taken with the family over the weekend that I actually am starting to look sloppy because my clothes are just hanging so I decided to go look for at least one pair pants and maybe a couple of tops that I can wear with a bunch of different things to try to get away with them for a while. ..... So I grabbed a couple pairs of pants and couple tops one size smaller went to the dressing room and much to my surprise I actually needed to go down another size I started out 1st of this year in 4x 30/32 tops and 28/30 3x pants. I am now a 22/…
