The Last Fall My story started with jumping off of a platform less than 3 feet high to the ground when gardening. Wearing new long distance glasses I misjudged the distance and due to my weight broke my knee, compressed the head of my tibia, and tore my full ACL. This led to knee surgery 6 weeks on my back, and another 6 weeks with no weight on my knee. Inside my mind I'm the same fit guy I was at 20 but in reality I'm just turning 50 and my starting weight was 300 lbs (136 Kg). My body isn't what it used to be (I was a champion black belt at 20). So I took a good hard look at myself. 115 lbs (50 Kg) overweight. The ACL tear will make my knee weak and my body is…

I had my surgery at 1:30 pm Monday, June 13, and I just finished the 20 laps around the floor my surgeon requires. Right after surgery was rough, but my pain is manageable. That first lap hurt like heck! I think I could get my laps in pretty easily because I did a lot of walking prior to surgery. If you are physically able, you should walk before your surgery. Iecwill help your recover. I also have no issues sipping Water, and not much gas pain Sent from my SM-G900T using the BariatricPal App

I had surgery on May 26th. The first two days were pretty rough but I am feeling much better. Still a little weak but excited to start this new life. Thank you to everyone who has been so supportive on this sight. I have started cottage cheese and some strained soups. Any other suggestions on this soft liquid diet phase?

Day ten and feeling pretty good. I walked ten minutes tonight , not at my old pace but I walked. Still trying to get more Water in and Protein. I ordered from powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury some sample packs of protein. The chicken Soup one was very good! I was surprised. I would rather have that than the broth. I also bought the unflavored to add to my other Soups. Again, not bad. Tonight my darn dog ate my dinner when I was outside! It takes a while to get down all this Fluid but I keep trying. Next time I will not leave my protein packed soup unguarded. . Sent from my i…

Been Givin the run around for 2 years in August. I've been through 1 and a half years of tests. Everything you could imagine, not fun. My next appointment is the 3erd of August. If I don't get a surgery date then. I will probably go to Mexico. Witch is a little bit scary, but something needs to happen soon. I'm getting bigger every day. I have been researching on the Internet for days, looking at Mexico's bariatric clinic & doctors reviews. Of course everyone says they are great. I would love to hear from other people and their experiences, good and bad. I am going to have the gastric sleeve. I can't afford the self pay here in the US ,but Mexico's self pay is poss…

I was banded in Mississauga (Toronto) on December 18th, 2014. I am 11 weeks post-op and down 37 pounds. It may not be a ton of weight lost, but its all gone, gone gone forever, and I am losing slow and steady. As I lay in bed last night, I touched my ribs (I have ribs?!) and reflected on how things have changed for me since being banded two and a half months ago. I realized last night that I am totally, completely, madly in love with my band. Here's why: My size 22 pants fall down to my ankles if I don't wear a belt. Even when I do wear a belt, my size 22 pants look like I'm wearing a parachute. I can put on my "old" jeans without unzipping/unbuttoning the fly. My…

I have been a member here since 2007 and at one time I was a contributing member. I have been gone from the sight for several years now but I am back. I am writing to tell my story in hopes that I can find some much needed support and also maybe give a word or two of advice to those who think they can outsmart the band, eat around it and most importantly, to those who are abusing the band or using it as a crutch instead of a tool. This story is long but I believe it will help so many and possibly even save someone’s life. I hope I am posting in the right area, if not, maybe a mod can move it. I got my band on December 10th of 2007 and I was very excited and hopeful that…

I was banded in 2010 and had no issues for the first year or so. I lost about 30 lbs. In November of 2012 I started having issues. I'd go get a fill and be back in to get a deflate within a week. They would tell me that my band had slipped and to go on a liquid diet. I would do that and go back in and it would be fine. This happened at least 2 more times before they told me that I had a hiatal hernia. (apparently that was the issue all along) When they did my original surgery they fixed a hiatal hernia. In March of 2013 I had the surgery to repair the hernia again. They deflated my band and it was like starting all over. While I didn't have any issues with the band slippi…

I'm starting my sleeve journey May 30 2016 with my preop diet and surgery is schedule for jun 8 2016 ,I've been overweight the majority of my life and am finally ready to be comfortable in my skin again. I'll be a self pay using bariatricpal in Mexico so everything is moving very quickly for me. I had learned the differences between the band, the sleeve, and the bypass and opted for the sleeve. I felt the sleeve would be the safest bet for me. I'm currently at 200 and my goal weight is 110. I'm so ready for this journey! I'll be updating my journal along the way. I was banded in 2011. After a couple port replacements, the band came out the end of 2013 due to infection. I was successful at losing weight with the band (about a 90lb loss). However, that weight (and then some) came on with a vengeance over the past 2 years. I am nearing the end of my pre-op requirements for the Sleeve. All I have left is a pre-op class February 8, and then we submit to insurance. I am hoping to have a February or March surgery date ????. I have the usual apprehensions about the actual surgery, however, I am more concerned that surgery won't be possible because of scar tissue I have accumulated over the past abdominal surgeries. My surgeon said that…

My name is JT and I thought this would be a great support group to be a part of. Originally I had the lap band in 2008 and didn't lose any weight with it so I had it removed and 2013 and went on to be sleeved. I had a great doctor however there again I only lost 20lbs and I've always eaten decent. I had sacrificed my activities over the years to support my son in all of his activities and ballooned up to 240lbs. I started reading this same website and praying for some help and I found Dr. Daniel Huacuz in TJ. My plans were to fly to Costa Rica however I couldn't get anyone to return my call but Dr. Huacuz called me personally. Guys and girls you know that is huge if you'r…

So, I'm the type of person to obsessively watch the scale. Which I know is completely unhealthy but nevertheless, I do it. So I went into the surgery on Monday 6/6/16 and now it's Friday. Starting weight was 285, and now I'm 292. All the fluids have me completely bloated up, and It's miserable. I just feel so dehydrated no matter what I drink or eat. The first few days I could barely stomach Water so you can imagine that wasn't fun, I was hooked up to IV fluids and had to stay an extra night. Then my blood pressure has been high and my pulse has been low so I had to go back to the hospital and get some more fluids last night. The pain has just started to be manageable wit…

I guess I start here. I've been overweight since early childhood. I've done almost every diet imaginable. I've lost bunches of weight and regained that back and more. I don't have a set in stone date for surgery yet, but my Dr. says it will be I'm July. I went to my initial consult March 21st. My pre op nutrition class is June 21st and then my appt with my Dr. Is June 28th. I'm guessing I start my pre op diet then. Not too sure how that works. I'm not nervous or worried about the surgery. What is scaring the heck out of me, is that I don't know what it's like to be a thin person. Any advice or thoughts are most welcome. And I'm looking forward to joining you on th…

ACID RE-FLUX Natural Relief Today I got the worst acid re-flux I have experienced so far. I hit the web and found I needed 1-3 tbls of Apple Cider Vinegar ( unfiltered/ organic with the mother). I too was prescribed pantoprazole every day. It worked a few days then it stopped this morning. I found a few recipes to sooth heart burn and acid re-flux naturally. I bought the following today. Braggs ACV, aloe vera juice, powdered ginger, powder cinnamon, organic natural apple juice and lemon juice. As soon as I got in the car i added a capful of acv to my 4oz Water bottle a bit of the apple juice for taste. It went to work immediately soothing my acid re-flux. i…

I'm still new to this forum but thought I'd introduce myself. I've tried and failed many different diets my whole life. Low carb and 2-3 hours of exercise a day works for me. I have PCOS, which makes it hard to KEEP the weight off. In November 2013 I was 227lbs at 5'8", I had a 3 month old baby that I was EBF. I joined Instagram and began my journey. Again. I followed many dieting accounts and many of those who had weight loss surgery. I never even thought of the surgery being a possibility for me as I hadn't had health insurance in over 10 years. I just enjoyed watching other journeys. After many ups and downs and losing/gaining the same 20lbs I got down to 19…

Hi guys!! Just reporting some stats for you all! HW: 240 SW: 235 CW: 216 5'4 I am 13 days post op, the weight is flying off and I'm going back to work today. Still some soreness on the left side, I also had hiatal hernia repair so my surgeon said this soreness, which feels like a runners cramp in my side could take up to a month to FULLY go away. Sometimes it's gone but then I lift something, stretch the wrong way etc and it comes back. Lol. Other than that doing pretty good. I am on purée foods and tolerating them fine. I'm a girl from Mexico and living in Monterrey, Mex. I was sleeved on may 27, 2016. At the start, I was very fearful. It was very, very hard decision to take for me. Because my entire life I was overwight (never like before my surgery), it was my comfort zone. I was meeting (and doing research) some doctors from differents hospital. Finally I chose Dr. Monterrubio from Christus Muguerza Hospital at Monterrey, Mx. He always talked me with truth and honesty and I felt very comfortable and secure in hospital's facilities. So, today I had my two week post op appointment at the surgery center where I started my journey. I left quite excited. We'll just start off with the stats and then will come the feels. Sw: 281 Preop: 264 Surgery day: 252 Today: 241 I went in a little apprehensive about how I was doing so far. To my discredit, I started on soft foods a little early, at day 10 instead of day 12, just because strained soup was really going to be the ******* death of me. So there I am in the waiting room, trying to be cool, looking down at my stomach like man, I really could have gone without that cottage cheese yesterday. I was sweating over what the scale might say; that it was go…

And since i have been reading so much about it ,im scared i will stretch my pouch. Now when i was loosing a pound a day i was not really eating, just like 3 table spoons of Jello and 3 sips of broth if that and water. I have now incorporated cottage cheese, hummus here and there and what ever i cook like maybe 4 Table spoons of.. Not sure if i need to…

Hello! My name is Morgan and I am 24-years-old. I decided to join this forum today to find tips, support, and progress from other members. This will be long, because I love to talk. <3 Let me start off by saying that I am excited and scared at the same time to get the Gastric Sleeve. I'm usually a very brave person, since I've already had 5 surgeries from the ages of 16 to 24, but this will probably be the most complex surgery I decide to get. The reason I am deciding this is because at 24 and having a small frame with the small stature of 5'2'', I am ashamed to say that I have reached a shameful weight of 246 pounds. I feel awful, not just emotionally, but physical…

I am six months post sleeve gastrectomy and I am down to 229! This last month has been rough for me. I lost my my father at the end of April and my body responded by snacking and comfort eating. I gained back up to 238 from 233, but worked very hard the last two weeks to get my weight back down and it looks like I'm back on track. I have accomplished so much this year and I can't give up. I ran my first 5k, yes I ran the ENTIRE thing, in just under 45 minutes! I have hiked many trails. I am proud, and I know my dad is proud of me too. My biggest regret is I never got to run with him. Everyone who knows me knows how close I am to my mom. She is my sounding board, my confidant, my cheerleader. For as long as I remember she’s told me: “All I want is for you to spread your wings fly.” She’s wanted me to fly, told me to fly, done all she can to help me fly. Before, I didn’t realize how out of control I was – of my life, of my destiny, of my world, and of the world around me. I did not realize how little, we as people, have control of. I didn’t realize how very young I was compared to how old I felt. I did not realize it Before. Not until After did I understand life makes us no promises. I did not realize that nothing last forever – not really. In my …

Hi! My name is Chelsea, I'm 24 years old, and am considered morbidly obese. I sent an email to my insurance company to see if the surgery was even covered. They invited me to speak with their Bariatric Center, and was informed that I met the criteria needed, and provided me with a list of surgeons in my area on January 26th, 2016. On August 22nd, 2015, I married the love of my life. We first started dating when I was 15, and he was 17. Being foolish, immature kids, we ended up breaking up about 2 years later. However, we always had issues staying apart. My husband is about 160ish pounds, and I'm pretty much twice his weight. Initially, I first starting thinking about the …

Well I just celebrated my birthday and since I have a family who loves to eat and myself loving to get all dolled up enjoyed the excitement of just going.. I say all this because after all these places I went to celebrate my birthday and all the so little food I could consume the last two weeks, I made healthy selections when ordering and only gained 3pds[emoji4] I had some things I shouldn't have had but hey it's a blessing all by itself t…
