Hello everyone! This is my first post! I have been lurking???? for a little while. This place is great and I am so thankful I found it. Soooo much information. I have my drs appt on Friday. I work for the healthcare system where I will be having the surgery. I feel certain I will be approved. There is no pre surgery weight loss req. I have limited info from the seminar and will learn much on Friday. I did tell my husband and he is supportive. I plan on telling no one else. So glad to have the support here. So hello!! I'm getting excited. I was one of those judgmental people years ago, but I think it was just jealousy. Plus things have changed over the yea…

I finally hit it. I was sleeved on 5/3. At about 5 weeks, I hit a two week stall. I tried eating more, eating less, exercising more, and even exercising differently. I have no idea what worked but one day the scale started to move again. I hope it keeps moving!

I'm beginning to lose hope. I have 11cc in my 12cc band and I can still eat solids like chicken with very little restriction. I had a low bmi of 30 and I have lost 12 lbs from April when I was on liquids only and kept that off. Since then, no weight loss just some gain that I recently lost with extensive exercise. I'm going to call tomorrow and see about another fill or other options. My surgeon told me my stomach is super tiny and my band needs to be super tight but I only have 1 more cc before its filled! I spent alot of money and I'm beginning to wonder if I made the right choice. With healthy food choices, I'm still over eating because I'm hungry... Anyone else having…

Hey guys. Im 23 and just decided to change my life. On june 29 2013 I had my surgery. My highest weight was 230 and ive been obese since I was about 8 years old. My biggest problem was always my arms. They were morbidly obese compared to thw rest of my body and getting ridiculed by kids was a def punch to my confidence. Growing up I could never use a short sleeve shirt and that was pretty much my main issue. My body was some what okay in weight. I was a 9/10 til I met my best friend when I was 16' she was going thru a rough time and I was there to console her but I got stuck with her eating habits. In a year I went up to a size.16 and when I finally decided to do somethin…

I was sleeved on 4/17 & have lost 40 lbs so far. I love seeing the pounds come off but honestly have found it difficult to "divorce" certain foods. I have a hard time with some food. Some days I can eat tuna fish on toast & other days I can eat it at all. I also don't get enough Water because I get a stomachache or nauseous. Due to my lack of water intake I have had two UTI's & now have to see a urologist. Ugh!! I however do not regret having this surgery. I feel great!! I went from 230 to currently 190. It's great to be in the 100's again :-)

Called my insurance company today to check on the status of my case and was given the best news. I've been approved!!!!! OMG!!! I never thought I'd be soo happy. Called my surgeons office and they said they hadn't heard anything but will call me ASAP when they eat the green light. I don't know why they (the insurance company) calls when you get denied but when it's approved they send a letter snail mail. But anyways I'm excited and can't wait to schedule my surgery :-)

I'm 5 weeks post op and back on regular foods. This just feels like my new normal... NOT a diet! I eat way, way, way less but I eat so slow, I'm able to savor every bite. I'm completely satisfied. I love this!!!

So now, I'm 4-1/2 years post op and have lived with my sleeve a long time now. . What I've written below may not be something you want to hear, but it's a story that need to be told. I lost 85 lbs with my VSG surgery in 2008, and for several years was very happy. I always thought my sleeve was a bit bigger than the doc told me it would be, but it did drastically reduce the volume of food I could put in my stomach. So I kept the weight off pretty well, even tho I never really reached my goal weight of 210. 220- 225 seemed to be my "floor", but staying there - or within striking distance was pretty easy. I'm 6-1 so that's not a bad spot for me. If it my weight began cr…

Amen to those that do it but I can only manage 30 min on stationary bike 4x a week. Is that enough to loose. I live alone, should I hire some help? Finally is it true no beer forever? Thanks any help would be appreciated.

Hi everyone! My name is Sandrine and I'm having my surgery July 10th in Fort Worth, Texas by Dr. Adam Smith. I have researched the Lap-Band for about 8 months and am reading The Lap-Band Solution by Paul O'Brien MD and have found it very useful. I have been on the pre-op diet for 5 days and have lost 9lbs so far. Its not too bad. I tried no caffeine the 1st day and got a real bad headache . My nutritionist said that I could drink 1 cup so I'm making coffee with 1/2 regular & 1/2 decaf and drinking no caffeine the rest of the day and that seams to work great. I have always been an athletic person and am excited to get this tool to help me with this extra weight I'm c…

Hi Everybody - I just want to share my journey today. It's been just over a month since I got the band and I've been doing walks and hitting the gym a few times a week but I've always wanted to be that person who said "I went hiking today in the Colorado mountains" and I did it. It was tough, very tough. I was 280 and now 263, wish it was a bigger weight loss. Today I hiked up the mountain with a very patient and understanding friend. I hiked/walked for 5 hours and boy am I hurting. I hope this is my start to a new lifestyle and to weight loss. I have to admit I did munch on some mixed fruit/nuts up on the trail, we took a break to get reenergized. Hope I didn't overeat t…

Hey you guy's, I'm 20 days post op today and I'm still not able to get in enough Protein, I think I am so burn out from the pre op diet I can't do the Protein shakes now. I'm drinking the Isopure protein and now I'm getting burn out on that. My body is starting to hurt kinda bad and I know it because of the lack of protein. I'm creamed out on Soups, I have been doing the poached egg in the morning and tuna or chicken salads for lunch and dinner along with SF applesauce, etc. I found myself feeling really upset yesterday think what did I do to myself. In this time period I have come to realize that I LOVE food. Its my comfort zone and now I don't have that any more and …

Ok had the gastric sleeve on Thursday, May 30, and it was not really that bad, I have had some soreness but no more than gallbladder surgery. Now I just stay hungry. If i go for a period of 35-40 minutes without something in my stomach I have horrible hunger pangs. I am drinking gluecerna with unjury protein in it, which should be enough protein at this point....but I am still so hungry. I feel hurngy, not just in my head, my stomach is rumbling, has anyone else had this problem.

I am having a difficult time with one of my daughters who is very much against my up coming banding. I lost 200 pounds over 2 years on my own, however went through an some stressful time and gained 25 back in just 6 week! I want to complete my weight loss and this is just what I feel I need to do. My doctor feels with my healthy lifestyle and as much as I work out that this is the best way to go. I just need the support of my family, and wish they could understand why I want it so bad. Just wondering if others ran into this sort of problem with family.

I'm 4 1/2 months post-op and have lost close to 40lbs, but I'm still wearing the same size. If thats possible. Granted they fit a little loser but it's still the same size. I feel good about the weight loss, but discouraged clothing. I know that I'm doing everything right, but I feel that I should be seeing better results. A little encouragement is needed right about now, please HELP.

Hello! I'm new here tonight. I scheduled my LapBand for 07.15. I'm nervous but ready for this to happen and to have a new start. I'm using Dr. Scarborough (Medical Center) - he's the only one I consulted with (recommended by my friend) but I'm hearing so many good things about TrueResults here... wondering if I should check out TrueResults first? I'm self pay ($11,100). Any tips? Any Houston LapBanders? Any July surgeries?

Saturday I walked down the aisle at my son's wedding in a dress that made me feel FABULOUS--one I never dreamed I'd be able to wear. I never even made it to the buffet--couldn't tell you what was on it because I was too busy dancing.....for four and a half hours to be exact. Six years ago I would have made a beeline to the food and pretty much camped out near that table. The caterer allowed me to take my meal from the rehearsal dinner home with me in spite of it being a buffet, since I knew the stress of hostessing the party would probably keep me from being able to get much through the band. I assured her that I would fill my plate only once with a reasonable amount of f…

i need help from successful banders.. im in the process of getting banded went to my physical, seminar, psych eval, i just need the doctor talk and 1 support meeting still a little undecixed which procedure to take. deep inside i want the lapband because its less invasive and mortality rate is 1 in 1000 as RNY (bypass) 1 in 350 havent checked on the sleeve because thats a defenit no no for me. today when i went to my psych eval the psychologist told me if i want to loose 100 lbs i would have to get gastric bypass (RNy) because with the band the average bander only looses 50 lbs at the most. im super scared to become malnurished because of the rerouting of f the sma…

I was banded Feb. 12, 2013. Up to today 6/11 I have lost 50 lbs, 16 of those pounds were lost in the 2 week pre op diet. I have been lucky that I have not experienced any problems with my band. At times I wish that I had gone for the sleeve, because it is a quicker loss. I am working so hard, going to the gym at least 3x a week, doing 2 1/2 miles on the treadmill in 45 minutes. At times I feel that I should have lost more weight. I have had only 1 fill since I got my band. My next appointment is at the end of June and I am a little anxious. I feel that I need a fill, because I can eat more than what I am supposed to at times, but I stop. In reading some of the st…

During my lapband surgery the doctor took a biopsy of my liver. The results fatty liver....several more test and several more doctors. The only thing that will save my life is diet and exercise so no matter how much I am disappointed in my weight lost, I believe that the decision I made by getting the lapband saved my life. Liver DR says if I follow all rules that my liver should clean it self of all fat.

Hi I'm Ron and I'm new as of 52 minutes ago. Well my story that led me to be here is that my first diet was as a infant, before 6 months of age I believe from what my mother had to say, she had to put me on a diet because I was consuming more than a couple of quarts of milk a day. The first remembrance of my life was looking up at the stove not my mother, father, or older brother, but the stove, yes it did have sparkling colored cut glass in the Roper insignia but come on! Everything that was good was in the kitchen Family, Love, Togetherness. The living room had some things that I liked; Sky King, Lassie, Mighty Mouse and the rest of saturday morning cartoons but it …

On Friday June 21st at 4:30am I checked into The Surgery Hospital for my LapBand. My husband Anthony was with me as well as my 18 yr old daughter Tiffany. As my surgeon prepped me for the surgery he turned to Anthony and I to ask....."any questions?" I said "nope am all set." My husband blurts out," I have a question!" I was surprised and knew he was worried for me and then he said "when can we have Sex again?" Lol. I turn red, along with my daughter. The Dr chuckled and said."...as soon as she is ready she will let you know. " No Dr restrictions on that. Yey!!

I got my first FILLER at 3cc and the doctor emphasized DO NOT EVER STRETCH YOUR POUCH! I was afraid to ask why or what will happen. I presume it will allow one to eat more but doesn't the FILLERS keep one full (even if the pouch was to ever stretch?) Sorry just a month in and still learning. Thanks!

I had my lap band slip after 7 years in April, 2013, had ER surgery and quickly gained 25 pounds. Thankfully the doctor agreed to sleeve me while i was at 30 BMI based on passed and co-morbidities. I just had my sleeve on 6/26. I'm not going to lie. It hurt. A lot. But I did have some additional Complications due to chronic steroid use from arthritis. This resulted in my stomach being paper thin and frayed. Surgery was 2.5 hours. So, I'm attributing the additional pain to that. I stayed an extra day bc they had to staple, stitch and glue my new stomach. But I'm completely independent now. No pain Meds for over 36 hours. Waiting on doc to show up so I can go Home. My H…

Hi Friends, My name is Kimberly and I'm 43 years old from Chicopee, Massachusetts. I grew up in Mass, came from a loving home and had a good life. I've been heavy as long as I can remember. I was always much heavier than my girlfriends in high school who wore a size 4 to 6 I was wearing a size 13. As time went on I put on more and more weight. I'm the mother of 3 beautiful children and I always fell under that age old expression "I'm eating for two" So ultimately I put on quite a few pounds after the birth of each child. I found myself making excuses for my poor eating habits and lack of exercise, I convinced myself that I was just "big boned" and I don't look that bad. U…
