  3. I was scared from day one. I knew this was the best thing for me. I prepared with education and over 8 months worth of classes. Still I didn't feel prepared. So many people had so many different stories. Although I knew about the procedure, I was scared about how it would affect me. My unknown future. I remember thinking, am I crazy to do an elective surgery. But deep down I knew I wanted to be healthier. All other efforts in weight loss led me to high blood pressure, sleep apnea, ankle and leg swelling, increase in medications, and the list does on. In classes, I would hear stories of how people have suffered with a decrease in the quality of life all due to obesity. I …

  4. Ok here goes my first post, 29 years old and I live in NJ. BMI is 36 and I am 255 pounds. Every person I talk says "your not that bad" or you dont need that so on and say on. Even my doctor says I am one of the lighter patients that would have the surgery. I qualify because I have high blood pressure and high cholesterol. I have already begun the process had my both nutrition appointments, pysch and upper Gi. I am planning on having my surgery the second week in January so it gives me some time to think about it. While going through the process at first i was very excited. However, my mind is starting to play games and I am now a little scared. Just looking for a little r…

If you're new to this process I recommend writing a letter to yourself now as your journey begins and only to be read when you hit your ultimate goal. I wish I had done it. I can only the imagine what the 488lb me would've said. I can remember the darkest times but to be able to read a letter from 18 months ago would be a great reminder of where I've been and where I do not want to go back to. Not only would it give insight to where you've been it will also help you appreciate what you've done and what you've become along the way... I do go back and read my old posts here on LBT and some are quite eye opening... Something to think about....

I have read lots of comments about vomiting after surgery. I'm sure everyone is different but I'm very worried about this because both my prior surgeries I vomited really bad for days. My last c-section I had I discussed this problem with my doctor and they agreed to give me extra meds to keep me from getting so sick. It didn't work bc a few mins into my surgery I started vomiting and vomited for days after that. It was the worst feeling in the world and has scarred me for life bc now I'm just absolutely terrified its gonna happen again! I literally thought I was gonna choke and die right there. I also know a women who vomited during her gastric bypass and died. I just d…

I was just wondering how people are eating throughout the day. I am almost 5 months out and am down 80 lbs. I feel like am only losing about 2 lbs a week now. Was wondering if snacking between meals is ok or if we should strictly be having 3 meals? I usually have a protein shake in the morning and then some nuts or a piece of fruit in between and then some protein (chicken) for lunch and them a snack such as fruit or cheese in between lunch and dinner and them some sort of protein and veggies for dinner. Is this normal? Need help

I had my surgery done June 27th. I will say the first week was very difficult not because of pain or anything else negative simply not being able to eat what I cooked for my family. I have lost 26lbs so far. I have experienced some dizzy spells but other than that it's been fine. No pain meds. Only thing I feel which I'm not sure is normal or not is I'm tender in the stomach area by touch. Very happy I had it done so I can continue to enjoy run and play with my kids!

  13. Hello, I was banded in 2005 in MX by Dr Ortiz. I lost 89lbs in the first two years after surgery but then some life events happened, I had a baby and now I find myself back up 45lbs & very unhappy. I'm depressed and feel like a failure. My husband is the type that has a very high metabolism and is constantly trying to gain weight so he isn't the best support person (as he eats a lb of chocolate covered gummy bears lol). I never did make it to my goal weight of 160 & as I sit here at nearly 230 it seems almost impossible. I have 3.2ccs in my 4cc band so not much room for adjustment. Anyone else in the same boat? Having kids back to back take a toll on your body an then being a working mom and turned into a stay at home mom does as well. I've tried all diets and all exercise videos and never lost more than 5 pounds only to gain it all back and more. I never even thought I could get weight loss surgery and my dr. Wanted me to see for my self if it was something I would want to do. I went Thur 9 months of hard work to get surgery not for anyone but myself in two weeks I've lost 20 lbs and my husband tells me I took the easy way because I'm too lazy. After my surgery I know people will be asking what kind of diet I'm on or how I'm loosing weight and I'm not so sure I want to share this with everyone! Not that I'm ashamed I just don't want to have to explain my business to everyone, especially when people can be so negative!

It took me a minute to realize that my knickers had fallen down inside my pants. The pants I am wearing today are about a size too big so when they fell, they fell deep down in there and it took awhile to pull them out. The NSV? No bright flash went off when I was fishing down my pants for my underwear and I've not appeared on peopleofwalmart.com yet.

If I don't loose this weight and fast I believe that I will either need heart surgery again withing the next couple of years or die from a heart attack or stroke. She was diabetic and battled with her weight her entire life. My sister and I have also been overweight since childhood and although we are not diabetic YET, we felt we needed to be proactive. We are hoping that after YEARS of yo-yo dieting, this is the TOOL that will lead us to a healthier LONGER life. She is hoping to have hers done in Aug and I am hoping for Sept. 44. Hi everyone- I spent a lot of time on this forum when trying to decide if to go through with the sleeve and really appreciate everyone's opinions and information. I ended up getting sleeved on May 22. I spent 5 years trying to work off weight with every diet and pills available. I was hospitalized for a month with my last pregnancy due to pre term labor and got Magnesium sulfate IV drip 24hours per day. This ended up both stunting all functions including metabolism and causing late onset gestational diabetes because it stunted insulin function. After being thin all of my life- I gained 90 pounds by the end of that pregnancy and was never able to work off the weight. …

She told me that their was no evidence of reflux but I do have a small hiatal hernia. She did state that she cannot diagnose and/or inform me of anything else about it. The thing that has me worried is that she stated that she has had patients that had to have the bypass instead of the sleeve because of a hiatal hernia. I do not see the surgeon for another week.
