Ok so here goes- I am stuck at 205. 5 Magical short pounds from "Onderland" Why I am stuck here at 205? I will tell you why, because I have been eating slider foods. Mainly Fritos and Junaitas Chips sometimes popcorn and close your eyes....even CHOCOLATE. So pissed it doesent make me sick like everyone else. Just my luck, it goes down like normal. Usually at bed time. Its comfort food (not making excuses just keeping it real) I am not sure why I am sabotaging myself. I am sure its physiological, although I am not a physiologist. Why I am afraid of going down into the next chapter, am I afraid of success? of the ok, I have done this now what? I have done this and reached m…

Hi all, my name is Frank and I’m 38 years old. I had VSG surgery on July 8th, 2013. Here’s my story... I've had a weight problem ever since I was 8 years old. Even so, I was always an active kid who loved to play outside, play most sports and probably took PE class way too seriouslyJ. I played organized football, baseball, basketball & soccer. I was always a little bigger, stronger and taller than most kids my age, so football became one of my strongest sports. As most of you know, there are weight limits in Pop Warner football and every season, I had to cut weight just to make the team. First year it was 5 lbs., next it was 10, then 20. I always succeeded in …

I'm 7 days post-op, and although I advised my nutritionist and doctor that I had issues with dairy products, including eggs, I was still advised to used the whey protein until I start my pureed diet. I don't think I'm getting the protein because it comes right back out, if you know what I mean. I switched to the soy protein powder and even though I can keep it down, it still gives me a slight rumble in my tummy. Any other suggestions? 2wks is a long time to struggle with this issue, I need protein.

I weighed in on Friday and finally made the weight I needed to be in for surgery to be covered by insurance ( I was just a few pounds shy with no other ailments) so I'm now at 40 percent BMI and my paperwork is being submitted to insurance I should know in less than two weeks if I get approved and can schedule my surgery... its a waiting game and it stinks but at least I'm moving ahead! I've never been so scared or so excited to be cut open I've never been admitted to a hospital, and generally have severe anxiety attacks so hopefully I don't give them too much grief lol especially when I go in for my upper GI. I have several friends that have either had a bypass or lap ba…

I had hernia repair and lap band on 7-18-2013, and I remember very little about what the nurse said to me in the recovery room, I was so out of it with the morpheme, as it made me deathly ill. I am now listing it as an allergic reaction. My surgery was done at the Surgery Clinic of Richardson, Texas, I read ahead of time and feel I know what to eat, but feel I knew very little about the amount of pain I would be in afterwards.. Each day I am feeling better. I feel like I can tolerate more liquids than I anticipated, and I was told I had 3 cc put in during surgery.. I started this procedure at 188 and hope to get down to120 or 125, I have heard it is harder for folk…

So tomorrow will be my 6 months since my surgery. My surgery date was Jan. 21st 2013 and I was 360lbs. As of today I am 230lbs. I set a test for myself at my 6 month mark called the Savage Race. This is a 4 mile run and 25 obstacles course. I completed the race in 1 house and 40 minutes. I wanted to prove to myself that I could and I did. There is no way I would have been able to do this race 6 months ago. I'll be moving on to my next challenge and reclaiming my life back, Skydiving (need to drop 15 more pounds to do so). So here are my before and after pictures. sorry that they are so big.

My weight loss has been very satisfactory....I have figured out the rhythms of holding steady and then loss so I am okay with this. I was 320 at my highest weight. 310 date of surgery and currently holding steady at 214, I am wearing xl or large and size 16, I look quite good now but would like to get down to 165 I can eat almost anything with no problem other than rice...it's uncomfortable and of no consequence since it holds no nutritional value. It's funny I freaked out in the beginning immediately post op because I could not eat much...now I love the restriction:)

Hi Ladies, As an Aussie I realized today that I owe all of you a huge apology. You see, here we were just getting on with our lives, loving our men and all the things they did for us like... Opening the car door for us or the door into the restaurant and pulling out our chair and telling us how lovely we were, and never commenting on our weight because that would be impolite and giving us compliments and and and......... Then along came Germaine Greer. Suddenly we had to feel weak and insulted if men did these things for us. We had to burn our bras, shave our heads and turn our men into women. Though secretly we loved this man who wanted to do those things for us,…

Hello my name is Kim and 41 years old, married and a mother to 6 young adults and grown adults(blended family). I have been on a few weight loss programs and self started programs, there has been so good results in it but it would come back faster than I lost it. I have been thinking about surgery for a few years but was afraid of going under the knife to have weight loss. In the past year I have been investigating weight loss surgery and what really happens when its done and real results good or bad. I was ready to do it but did not know how to get started but then someone close to me had just completed the process and was able to help me get started and now I am just wa…

Hi everyone, I had RNY 7 weeks ago today at UCSF here in northern California. My husband and I live on the Mendocino Coast and are both educators. I am an elementary school (k-2) librarian and he is a high school government/history teacher. At 28 I was diagnosed with diabetes and then at 29 I was diagnosed with kidney cancer. I had a successful surgery where they removed my entire left kidney along with the gigantic cancerous tumor that was attached to it! Because of the diabetes and history of kidney cancer my doctors recommended the RNY. So now, at the age of 31, I am on the road to a healthy life! I have been very lucky so far, no complications and I have had no…

I am 40 years old. I was born and raised in Indiana. I was born in Corydon and then given up for adoption at 11 months old, where I was raised in Mishawaka by the most amazing parents in the world. The cards were stacked against me from the get go. My biological mother has fought her weight most her life and suffers from many ailments both weight related and not weight related. My biological father was obese and in the end died because he was unhealthy (according to a biological cousin. My biological fathers family is not in contact with me except for a cousin who is a Facebook friend). I know that the weight is on me and because of my poor choices but let me be clear abo…

I'm scheduled for surgery July 31st & I've never been more excited in my entire 21 years of life. The most difficult part of this whole journey is that I work in the food industry. I need some advice from other people in the restaurant business on how they got through the liquid diet and how to fight the cravings because even if I just ate I will come into work and see something delicious on the grill an I'm instantly hungry again! HELPPPPPP!

Well I finally had my surgery....do I regret it? Not yet. Although, I had my surgery on Wednesday, 7/10 and I don't remember much about my stay till 3 days post-op. Here is my story. Wednesday morning: arrived for surgery very excited and anxious. After 3pm I was in my room and the surgery was completed. Around 9 the nurse said I needed to try to get up and use the restroom. While trying to get me up my husband told her I didn't look right. I was very weak and pale. Determined she ushered me to the bathroom stating some people just can't handle pain. Thursday morning: the bariatric coordinator nurse comes in and said "you have to get up and walk this morning we are re…

...and terrified that I'm not felling 70%! HA! I know I need to give this time, but I have some tightness on my right side, as well as slowly moving from clear liquid diet to full liquids. My husband and I have a 4-year old boy, a 5 1/2 year o,d English Setter, and a 10-month English Setter. Needless to say, we have a busy household and me being "out-for-the-count" for more then 4 or 5 days is proving a challenge!

I have not been sleeved yet but I often sit and think about how much different my food choices are going to be at home for me and my family after being sleeved. I not only want to eat healthier and smaller portions but I want them to as well. I think its so important to teach kids while they are young not to overeat and the make healthy food choices. (married and mother of 2 boys 9&3) I try to cook healthy meals and my kids eat veggies and fruits like they should but they also eat junk on occasion when I start eating terrible again after another failed diet attempt. I have noticed that my kid's appetites are getting bigger and I haven't been telling them no on seconds…

Yea! I did it! Had surgery Monday and feel great! Hardly would have known Tuesday that I had had surgery the previous day! Didn't think it would be so pain free. Yes I have had Advil twice a day and only had prescription med. (1/2 dose) on Monday. The only pain I have had is incisional pain. I have been kind of sluggish but went out shopping for an hour on Wed. and have been out Thurs and today. My doctor put me on all liquids this week and that has been fine also. I guess the real challenge will be Mon when I start more soft solids. Wish me luck!

Hi, My name is Pat and I am glad that I found this site. I am 63 yrs young and when I recently looked at a copy of my medical records and read " Morbidly Obese" it sent a chill through me. I decided to finally do something about it and went to the weight loss seminar....the first step. Today I had my first appointment with my surgeon. I first met with the dietician who spent quite some time going over what to expect in terms of pre-op/post-op, dos and don'ts....and gave me folder with info to read. Then met with the surgeon who I really like. I will be having the sleeve and said I was a good candidate. I have recently been through several medically supervised weigh…

I am a 41 year old mother of two beautiful girls. My family calls them Teenie and Tot, because they are 17 & 3. I have the best of both world's. . I love them to pieces. My teenie and I both decided to get sleeved. However because my daughter is a teenager, insurance said she have to do a six month diet plan. My big day is scheduled for 8/5. I got the call on Thursday. Since then my daughter have become very jealous. We have not told many people and the few we have told really don't understand our struggle. We were suppose to be each others rock. Every since the call she gets very upset, disappointed, short and negative every time I mention anything about the surge…

So, I went to the surgeon today and he confirmed that I can have surgery Tuesday! This is my second day of all liquids. I guess it is time to tell my kids and my dad. I have avoided that until I had a date. My husband thinks I should not say anything to the kids until Sunday (so my 10 yo daughter won't worry so much) but I am not sure yet. The shakes aren't bad. I am on Bariatric Advantage.....up to 5 a day. Anyway! I am super excited and nervous, but it is going fast so I am relieved

My expectations of this journey were to have lost all the weight by this time and to be healthy. The reality is I have lost 55 lbs and that is great for me and i am only half way there. My health has improved in every area! I am walking up to 7 miles a day...who would have thought I could make accomplishments like this...ever? I am feeling comfortable and full of energy. My outlook has improved 100% I look forward to each day! I am a slow loser but that is OK with me as long as the weight keeps coming off and I am healthy. When this journey began I was determined to be successful and I feel like I've got control of this and my life. So...happy anniversary to me.....t…

For the first time in 23 years, I am no longer described as any version of "obese", having just snuck into the BMI range for "overweight".... in 12 weeks. Yay! I can't begin to explain what the sleeve has done for me, my health and my life. It hasn't been easy and I know I have still a long way to go, not just with weight but the issues that got me to where I was. But this has been a life changing 3 months and I am so grateful I have gone through it. Future looks bright.... :-))))

Hello, all. New here, obviously. I am in the process of getting scheduled and seeking some support. This is kind of an assignment because i live 70 minutes from my hospital and my psych eval said I dont feel like I have a strong support system and my counselor said I need a support group but I live in a rural area. I am 432 right now and hoping for the best because I have forgotten what it feels like to walk pain free and walk iin oublic without feeling like all eyes are on me. I am a food addict. I worry about post-op complications and how much extra skin I will have to deal with. I would like to get some info from people who have been sleeved. What is the best t…

Hi everyone as my title states I am new to this forum but have been lurking around reading all of your posts and trying to gain as much knowledge as possible before my surgery. I was recently blessed with two grand daughters and wanting to see their children has inspired me to take the plunge and have the surgery. As with most of you I have struggled with my weight most of my life. I am forty six years old and really can't remember a time when I wasn't thinking of or feeling guilty about food. I have done the gym thing, herbal magic, weight watchers, Atkins (which was my best success with 80 lbs lost) but nothing has helped me to keep the weight off. I am really hoping th…

Hi. I just had my sleeve done on Wed 7/17. Was just released from the hospital. My orig weight was 292 and right before surgery I was down to 277. At the hospital the nurses weighed me and I was in the 290's. I weighed myself at home just now and I'm 297.. Has this happened to anyone? I weigh more after the surgery. This is crazy. I figured the IV that was in my arm wld make me gain maybe 4 lbs or so. But to gain 20lbs from surgery. Is that possible?

I've been lurking here for awhile and I've decided you all are wonderful. I'm scheduled to be banded September 11, 2013. I'm so excited...and terrified at the same time. It's been so helpful seeing people on here talk about all the issues that scare me. How you support each other is so awesome. I've struggled with weight issues since I was a kid. I've done all the diets with temporary successes. It's frustrating. I've struggled with the decision to have a bariatric surgery. "It's cheating. I can do it on my own. blah blah blah...." But, somewhere deep in my mind, it clicked. And, I started reading. It's not the easy way out. It's not cheating...and clearly…

Hi, I am on day 6 of my revision to RNY (laparoscopic). The healing process is amazing quick compared to my VGB. I'm still on liquids and will be moving to purée any day know. My story began 15 years ago when I had VGB surgery where I was cut wide open from rib cage to below the belly. I lost over 80 pounds but never reached my goal weight. Eventually I became pregnant with twins in 1999 the gradually regained almost 100 pounds thru the years! My goal this time is to just be healthier!
