I have read so many wonderful success stories on this and other web sights and I definitely hope I will be successful myself! But I was wondering if there are people out there who have been sleeved longer than six months that are disappointed with their outcomes so far? Are there people out there that feel as if the sleeve has not helped them in the way they thought it should?

10 months and 140 pounds later! I could not be more happy with my results thus far! I went from a tight 26/28 top and bottom to a XL top and size 12 bottom. I have officially out shrunk Lane Bryant! I even managed to put on my husband's size M sweater!!! The journey has had its ups and downs, I had been on a stall for about a month, after meeting with my nutritionist again and reassurance that I am doing things right, the weight started dropping again. I think sometimes when I stress about it, I don't lose the weight. I would love to lose about another 70-80 pounds, but to be more realistic where the doc said I would be probably another 40, if I can get plastics th…

Hi I am considering this procedure and I have just began the process of making arrangements to go to my first seminar. I am 43 years old and happily married and I am a diabetic. The reason I want this procedure done is because I want to loose weight and began to live a healthy life for myself and family. Everyone in my family has diabetics and I want to live a healthy life as possible and see my children grow and mature and see their children do the same. I have decided to go this route because everything I have read so far seems positive., and I am hoping that by joining this forum, I will have the opportunity to meet new friends, get support, and understanding from peo…

I'm trying to figure something out. When we used to eat everything and anything our eyes, hands and mouths can get hold of, we would gain tons and tons of weights even with some exercise. Now, our stomach is the size of a banana and can barely hold any food compared to what we used to eat yet the weights are not dropping like water even with exercise. Can this be explained? I don't get it even though I've tried to.

So one of my co-workers calls me at the last minute with free stage tickets to one of the best jazz festival our city has had in a very long time. Now I almost declined because I had nothing to wear, my hair ain't done, and all the other many reasons fat girls make excuses not to go somewhere. Mind you I'm als

I'm a newbie and have only used my i-phone LB app for this forum. I had a log-in name, filled out surgery info and made a few posts. Well today my husband encouraged me to use my i-pad and Holy Smokes--- no longer worked! I am not sure what happened but I was locked out and unable to log in. So after repeated attempts I just decided to create a new profile....bummer!! Has this ever happened to anyone else? Oh, and it was not my password.

Hi All, I'm Raven and my story is that I am a 51 years old female, married and a mother of one. I started at a weight of 220lbs at 5'4" with all the wonderful comorbities of extremely high blood pressure, high cholesterol, arthritis in both knees and hips, and last but not least gurd. I had my surgery on Wednesday Dec 21st, 2011 and was out of the hospital by that Friday morning. I am currently at 174lbs and I am down to the last nubbins of my closet. I have about 50lbs to go to reach my goal weight of 125lbs and I have stalled out and haven't lost a pound in 2.5 weeks. My blood pressure is still high and I haven't been able to get off of my medication yet, I still…

I'm just wondering who else really enjoys updating your ticker. It's really something for me to look forward to. It's been very encouraging to see the girl on my ticker get closer & closer to the "finish line". Now, on another note, this is random, but I was just thinking about how all of us are different. A lot has been said about this lately. I am fortunate that I am able to eat anything that I choose to without feeling sick and/or vomiting. I've discovered that one of my fav Snacks is popcorn. I allow myself some about once or twice every other week. I even give my Malti-Pooh some. He loves the crunch, lol. I, lastly, want to encourage anyone that needs it. Con…

I have been jumping through hoops for 8 months now. Doing everything I was told to do by my surgeon. He wanted me to lose weight and track everything that went into my mouth for three months as well as log any and every exercise I did. He told me that when I completed the three months come back to see him (which is a 5 hour drive and two hour ferry ride) and if I stuck to my end of his requests that he would give me a surgery date within one month of this visit.. So. I have been working my butt of going above and beyond his request and traveling 7 hours, only to find out that the bariatric program in BC (Canada) has changed. I no longer can have a date so soon as I am n…

How many of you have choosen not to tell family other than your parents or siblings? I feel like I'm in a delima because my aunts would be hurt that I never told them but they tend to gossip. I wouldn't mind them knowing but I really dont see the reason for my extended family to know. I'm feeling torn and somewhat alone in this process as I feel as though I'm keeping a big secret (which i guess i am lol).

I have come across people in my life that have such a negotiate opinion on weight loss surgery. They say its the easy way out or they have said that is the lazy way... Wouldn't being lazy be not doing anything about it at all? Some people just don't understand that just bc you have weight loss surgery does not mean that you didn't work just as hard as the person who lost it on their own! It is a physical and mental transformation for anyone to lose weight! Anyone else come across this sort of thing? I'm just getting started but getting a lot of slack from family and friends about my choice. Not a lot of supports in my life, just wish I could make them understand!

Hi all, I have been lurking here for several months and finally decided to join. I am still not sure which doctor I am going to use, but as my insurance won't cover surgery, I will be self-pay in Mexico. I am looking at a couple of different doctors, Aceves, Illan, Kelly and Ortiz. I am so confused as to who to go with, so am hoping I can get some good info here. I got divorced from my high school sweetheart after he decided he would rather be with his co-worker than me. It pretty much devastated me, especially coming shortly after losing my parents within a matter of months. While I have always been overweight, this just drove me into a complete binge and now I…

Hey there everyone! Well, I went today for my psych evaluation & I'm soooo excited cuz that means I'm one step closer to setting my surgery date (I hope!)There is NO doubt whatsoever for me...I know I want the sleeve surgery & to live a healthier life! I'm just wondering...if I go thru all of this crap the insurance says they require, can they still back out or deny me at the last minute? Or is it pretty much set in stone if they've told the Dr. that I have to do the 3mth. weight management classes, see a nutritionist & get a psych eval? I sure hope I'm not getting my hopes up for nothing! Any info would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance. :thumbup1: R…

Hi, I've never had pain in my left shoulder until I got the lap band surgery. I've had 2 small fills. I am maintaining my weight presently. I have an appointment for a 2nd fill in 2 weeks. I've told my doctor about the pain but he has no idea. His nurse did tell me that she's heard others say the same. If I have a meal or even maybe 4 cups of water; I'll get a sharp pain in my left shoulder. it's the "pain in my shoulder" that tells me to stop eating OR drinking. How can a lap band surgery have an effect on your shoulder??? I personally find it disturbing and very odd. Any takers???

Let's share some personal truths about the process here. At 9 weeks post-op, I have found one thing to be consistently true: I have to take a total no-BS approach to this process or I won't be successful in the long-term. After a very long night of thinking of my past, my present, and my future, after confronting all the habits that got me into this place, I realized that to be successful I need to be CONSTANTLY DILIGENT about sweets, Snacks, sneaks, and lies. Sweets: It's possible that sugar really was the glue that held me together through all I've been through over the years. I love sweets. I still love sweets. I think about chocolate chip Cookies for way too…

Yesterday I got sleeved at Integris Hospital in Okc Ok by Dr. Hamilton Le. I must say that I had a wonderful surgeon and support staff. The nurses were all wonderful and I had minimal pain after the procedure. Drinking all of the litle cups of water immediately after getting to my room was kind of wild. I had to drink water out of those little plastic cups that they use for meds. They wanted me to drink 8 every two hours plus I had to walk twice a shift. The first few laps were a little wobbley but soon I was goiing aroud the place like a pro. I must say that today after all of the gas was gone and the anethesia wore off I did have some pain today and had to take a dose o…

Hi, my surgery was 7-11-13, i weighed in at 268 lbs, it took me 3 yrs to finally make the decision to get sleeved, my wife did it 3 years ago. So far i am happy i did it, 7-25-13 now 2 wks post-op and i weigh in at 248 lbs, plus i feel like i have more energy. I am still on liquids, and now puree, i am wondering when should someone be able to have solids? Oh i am 57 yrs old, so that might effect my weight loss pace.

My weight loss journey started about 2 years ago. My original plan was to have the lap band, I thought I would have more control over my weight loss with this option. I have been heavy for most of my life and I did not want to weigh the 135 lbs. my Dr. says I should weigh, I want to be comfortable with myself. After I went to the mandatory conference before my consult I realized that Gastric Bypass was a better fit for the amount of weight that I wanted to loose. I did discuss my fears of losing too much weight with my Dr. and he reassured me that I will eventually have some control. I didn’t talk about it much with my family until it was close to my first appointment t…

I'm apologizing in the beginning if this typing appears small. I had issues like that on the Vertical Sleeve site when typing from my phone. I just found out today that I have bad reflux so my surgeon won't do the gastric sleeve. I never had heartburn so I couldn't understand it. Anyway she said she'll have to do the RYN bypass instead so I joined this forum. My thoughts are all over the place at this moment for I've been geared up for the sleeve all this year. I'm coming here for support.

All I had to do was get a waiver from my pcp, who didn't require anything from me, get my medical records from the last 2 years and a psych eval. I see other people getting endoscopy and other things. It's odd to me that this is all I need? My psych eval is Tuesday and then were submitting to Insurance. I'm scared they will come back at me with "Oh we forgot u need this and this and this." did anyone else not have to do much? My only comorbidity is high cholesterol.

Banded March of 2009 at 275lbs and over the next 3 years only managed a 20lb sustained weight loss! (pretty far from my 100lb goal)..............I consider the surgery to have been only slightly better than worthless. After 3 years of failure I regrouped and I am now down to 210 (or a 65lb loss)......How????? I went back to the tried and proven (for me anyway). I transformed into a HFLC lifestyle.....For those of you who do not know HFLC stands for "High Fat Low Carb"............Basically the old "Atkins" diet............I know many people here don't want to hear it. They want to think (as I did) that without any effort that a surgery would fix their problem..........I …
