My WLS Story

Hi everyone!! I am new here this is my first post, but have been reading the last couple of weeks! I had surgery June 21st so I'm 6 days Post-op! Biggest challenge for me is wanting to eat my wife's cooking and taking all these meds in crushed form, as well as the vitamins! I had surgery because of a huge Rt. Flank Hernia that has torn three times in the last 10 years... This time every surgeon I talked to told me they would not touch me until I lost weight! I was 320 lbs, then went down to 265 on my own... Since starting program and pre-op diets I went into surgery at 239 lbs, my goal is 180lbs so I can repair hernia and get my life back! I am diabetic, have high blood pressure, high cholestrol, and suffer from chronic back pain... I am praying this surgery will help me with all of that! Glad to join all of you in this amazing journey!

I'm on a liquid diet too looking forward so much to being able to chew something, never noticed how much food is shown on TV nowadays, it's either Food, Alchohol, or prescription drugs!! Lol!

Welcome and congrats, I remember coming home and cooked for my family for the 1st time...I made ribs for them and cried when I poke the knife in the meat and it fell off the bone...(family was like wth??? and you are so right the food is always on tv...before I was addicted to cooking shows, (still am) but when I came home I just liked watching ppl eat because I couldn't. believe me it does get better:)

I know that feeling. Just had surgery on 6/21 and we were out and my kids were starving so my hubby stopped and bought himself and them burgers . Of course he asked If it were ok and I said yes:( omg. Tears ran down my face as I covered my nose with my shirt. Hiding my face. The smell was too much .had to ask him to open the windows. Made me think what a food addict I am.and it's not their fault and this is something I chose to do and I know in about a year it will all be worth it!!!!!!!

God I know this feeling. Was out with my mom and youngest siblings (13 yo twins) and they were hungry and wanted to get something to take home. I was driving! I had to go through the Whataburger drive thru and order their meals. I had to pass the bags and drinks to them. I was only 1 week post op at the time. I didn't cry but it was so tough. I love Whataburger. :(
