I was up and walking about 3 hours after surgery. Very tired and I do have gas pain in shoulder and at drain site but otherwise fine. No problems sipping my water and G2. Even ate a little jello. The Iv fluids are making me have to pee constantly which is annoying. So far better than expected. No buyer's remorse

  4. I'm considering having the surgery in Mexico. There are so many Dr.'s there doing the procedure, it's hard to decide how to choose. Can anyone who's had the surgery there give me some ideas as to what to look for to stay safe. I'm a Nurse, but my insurance won't pay for the surgery, so Mexico has to be an option.

I am pretty much where I thought I would be at this time...and hoped. Down 98 lbs ...10 of those were pre op. Weight is coming off slower and I do experience stalls and then go back into a losing trend. I just lost another pound after experiencing a stall for the last 10 days. I am 57 lbs from goal. I am eating about 1000 calories a day. Averaging about 900 to 1100 calories a day. Protein is 60 to 75 g I am avoiding carbs as much as I can comfortably. Not eating posts, rice..crackers but I'd they are naturally occurring in a healthier choice.. if anyone is reading this who is trying to decide on actually having w l s. It took me a long time to go thru with this..…

  7. I am 5'4, started bariatric Program at kaiser in October 2012, I weighed 250. Was supposed to lose 20lbs before surgery and when I fell short they cancelled the surgery I had scheduled for January. After I realized that they were actually SERIOUS about the weight loss, I did HCG diet and got down to 225. When I had the surgery May 30 I weighed 219. No issues with surgery other than nausea from anesthesia. A cold rag on my neck kept my from vomiting but it wasn't easy. Some gas pain and incision pain but it wasn't that bad compared to 2 c sections and each day it got better. Was supposed to be on liquid diet for 2 weeks but only made it about 4 days before I started tryin…

This is my first time posting on here..I had my surgery on December 11th. I started my journey at 417 pounds. The surgery itself went very well. I spent the night in the hospital and went home the next day. I had minimal challenges after the surgery itself. I did the liquid diet for a week, then the blended food, etc. My only difficulty that I have is first thing in the morning I have a hard time drinking Water when I first wake up. Having a C-PAP machine I tend to be quite parched when I wake up. I was told that there is a build up of mucus and it's usually best to drink warm liquid first thing in the morning to break that up. I'm usually not a warm liquid drinker but …

I am so glad I found this site. My surgery date was 7 June 2013. Highest weight 267? Surgery weight 245. Current weight 230. No problems with pain just tired. I love how I have to remind myself to eat. Not getting enough protein yet. Hate every protein shake cause I got so sick of sweet stuff on the liquid diet. Going to try and add some protein powder to my cream of wheat and oatmeal. Any other suggestions? I'm on the soft food stage. Thanks for being here!

Hello all, You are on the ride of your life. That's a good thing. My top weight was 280 lbs. Being married to a photographer made it impossible to ignore the comfort of my size. I've always been "big boned" and was always comfortable with my size but the more I saw myself in photos, the more I hated how I looked. Although my husband loved me anyway, it wasn't enough for me. So 2011 came and I'm turning 50. That is when I said enough is enough. I wanted a new and improved me. I had my surgery June 9 2011, 3 months before my 50th bday. I didn't have any complications. It was the best decision I've every made. By my birthday, I was 40 lbs lighter. I could see m…

I am 6 weeks out now and doing fabulous. I walk 2+ miles a day and eat and drink what I'm supposed to. I have energy galore and loving life. The only thing I'm a little perplexed about is how I"m feeling vulnerable, exposed or unprotected. I'm not really sure of the best wordage, but you get the idea. I was wondering if anyone else has felt this after losing weight. I have felt like this before when I lost 100 lbs doing Atlins in 2004. I met my husband and felt so vulnerable and I feel I self-sabotaged myself and ended up gaining the entire 100 lbs back. I'm not going to let that happen this time because I now recognize what is happening. I am going to look for a self-hel…

I have videos on YouTube up and posted and it talks about my journey so far of my Gastric Sleeve Surgery. So far, I have lost almost over 80 pounds from 418 pounds last year. I am almost 330 pounds now. Anyone shedding a few pounds as well? It is awesome to be able to feel stronger.

Today is my Surgervisary!!! I'm exactly 1 year out and 107 pounds lost. I started at 280, and I'm now 173. I'm extremely happy with my weight loss, but I am no where near my goal. Somedays I wished I would have pushed myself harder in the beginning so I could have reached my goal already. Other days, I feel like slow and study can still win the race. I have horrible thoughts of gaining the weight back, so I try to avoid as many of my trigger foods as possible as well as trying to walk at least a mile a day to stay active.

I have only found that dried fruit and granola bars don't work for me anymore. I get all my protein and most if not all of my fluid. I feel like I am constantly either eating/drinking. I am losing well having lost 35 pounds since surgery. I take my prescribed vitamin and antacid BUT... I always have hunger pains/stomach rumblings!! What else can I do. I thought we weren't suppose to be hungry anymore?? Any help appreciated. Thanks!

New here - so an introduction. I will be 42 this Friday. My wife and I have been married 24 years and have three awesome kids. Our two oldest are both girls (22 and 9) and both are special needs. Our youngest is 5 and ALL BOY! I've always been heavy. I know I have an addiction to food. I don't drink, never have done any sort of drugs, don't smoke - I cook and I eat. That's always been how I "medicate" myself. Eat til you regret it. Three years ago August 6th, I was in a rollover car accident that I should never have survived. I literally walked away with a severe concussion and damage to an already troubling issue with my back. I was laid up for about a month and …

Im hoping it can cure my sleep apnea & if I can loose a little weight in the process it a win-win!!! It's is almost a week after being banded & I feel just fine. I had no complications after the surgery & was feeling real great after 2 days! I been doing the phase 2 for a few days & dont feel hungry at all, I am really surprised by that. So, I've been lurking for a while and have decided to join the fold. I decided about 10 years ago that I was never going to 'diet' again and would have to either make piece with my size or have surgery. I have made piece to a certain extent, but I have recently made a huge investment in myself by returning to school. I have one more year left. It has been a huge time and financial commitment and I feel like my size will likely hurt me as I seek employment in a competative field. So...for the last year or so I have thought about surgery more earnestly. My insurance expressly does not cover any weight loss surgery so I will be self pay (or self borrow) as the case m…
