** Runs in doing my happy dance** My paperwork was submitted June 4th. I was approved on the 5th and I got my surgery date today, JUNE 26TH. I was picking up my daughter when they called to confirm my surgery date. I screamed so loud that everyone in the parking lot stopped to stare but today was one of the rare days I didn't mind being the center of attention. I'm so excited, the only thing that gave me pause was the fact that I was asked if I would be interested in having the procedure done with robotic assistance using the Da Vinci Robotic system. I love technology and I trust my surgeon so I think I'm going to let him use the robot.

I was sleeved on the 16th of may and what a journey it has been!! I've been through pain, regret and finally happiness. The most difficult part is watching people eat!!! I suffer so much from head hunger it's untrue! I still have to prepare food for my son, and watch my friends eat all the food I loved. But on the upside I'm over 35lbs down I starting next week I can start the pureed part of my diet ( one month of liquids is really hard going) so I'm looking forward to introducing food back into my life!!! It has been so much harder than I imagined, even with all the research I did but it is worth it in the end!!

WooHoo!! I had kind of hoped to have the first 30 pounds gone at the 4-week mark, but I needed another couple of days...so 30 in 30 (which works out to 20% of my excess weight). I have been so fortunate to have a complication-free post-op, both physically and mentally, and signs point to a "sleeve of steel" for me :-) The "hardest" thing for me so far is to get the 64 oz of fluid (which was also an issue pre-op as I just don't tend to feel thirsty and so can go hours w/o taking in fluids and not realize it) as well as having a short attention span with food...I'll eat something and it will taste delish and will settle well, but then that same thing doesn't seem appealing …

I have been working out in a boot camp environment and walking every other night. On Friday I had taken the day off from working out and on Friday night I was in terrible pain. This was pain all around my port, now a week has almost past and the pain is less but I feel like my port is being hit by my rib cage. Anyone experience this? I feel fine, I can eat, breath, I have no nausea, heart burn or a fever. There are times that I am unable to swallow and there is no fluid in my band.

  12. Well I am thrilled that I got approved ! I'm waiting on them to call me for my preop diet appt with my surgeon. I haven't told anyone for fear of negative reactions and people trying to talk me out of it . I went to my moms today and I almost broke down and told her prematurely. I wanted to but I knew she would not b leery abt the idea . I want to tell her when I have my date set . This way it's nothing else to say . I'm not changing my mind regardless . It's something I need to do for me ! And I'm sooooo happy that this is a tool I can use.

  13. Hello All! The first 7 months I made monthly updates on this forum. I've pretty much just been maintaining the last couple months, but I thought I would post an update. I'm 23 years old and had my surgery August 22nd last year so I am between 9-10 months post op right now. I started at 231 and am currently 139. Yahooo! I can't tell you how much I am looking forward to this summer!! Last year I honestly had one ugly pair of capris and two "nice" tops. Whenever I had to get dressed to go somewhere, I would choose between those two tops. I never felt confident. I hardly have any pictures because I avoided them. Most days I would just wear baggy sweats and my boy…

  15. I just had the sleeve done on the 30th in Houston. My weight before surgery was 275 lbs. which was the highest it's ever been. I knew I had to do something coming from a family history of high blood pressure, diabetes, high cholesterol and so on. Luckily, being that over weight I didn't have any issues... Yet. Well this past week I went in for my surgery at 271 lbs. I was so nervous. I had my mom, dad, 4 year old daughter, and fiancé there. I stayed in the hospital for one night which was one tough night. I am much a belly sleeper and could not get comfortable on those hospital beds whatsoever. The pain was ok and the nurses were great. Going for my one week post…

  29. I just thought I'd share my experience and field any questions from my recent experience. I live in Virginia and was self pay. I searched for doctors with good reviews on the east coast since my area is way too expensive. I flew down to Tampa and met Dr Aguilla on May 7th and liked all I heard and saw. I started the preop liquid diet on May 11th and lost 20 pounds before my surgery on May 30th and I did have a few cheats. Things happened so quickly that I wasn't 100% ready to deal with all of my bad relationships with food but I still did well on the preop. This was my first surgery of any kind and they made it as painless and uncomplicated as possible. Everyone I…

My surgery date is November 18th- 2013 ( it's coming fast) - I've done a lot of research but am finding that although some books touch on gastric sleeve, I haven't found one specific book that just focuses on gastric sleeve. Anyone have any thoughts or info to point me in the right direction. Please let me know... I'm looking forward to chatting and having support as well as offering support to anyone. Thanks

Well, I am new here and and my name is Ted and I have recently started my journey to taking control of my body instead of my body controling me. I have met with the surgeon, gotten all my medical records sent to surgeon and met with my cardiologist for his blessing. The Surrgeon has filed all information with insurance and just waiting on them now. I am having a PET scan monday on my heart, just as a precaution from my Cardiologist. I am hoping for everything to fall in place around mid July. I am very excited about the things to come. Should be a fantastic journey!

Hi! I'm Francine I had my lap band done on May 30th, 2013. The procedure itself was a breeze it's the gas pains that are killing me. I did not anticipate them to be so bad. I'm still experiencing them but to a lesser degree, thank god. My tummy is so swollen and hard still. The incisions are starting to heal and itch like crazy. I'm still very anxious that someway somehow I will mess this up like I did all of my diets in the past and have wasted 10K. I want to be that skinny girl in my head so bad!!! Im 5'2" and started my journey at 248 lbs on April 1st. I lost 10 lbs during the pre-op diet period and I was sleeved on May 1st. By June 1st I had lost 11 more lbs. I have lost a total of 21 lbs in two months. I can't say I'm not disappointed especially reading how so many people are losing so so so much faster :-( I try to remain positive and keep in mind that I'm losing and not gaining! I've heard of stalls happening during this week but its hard! I can't help but think its something I'm doing wrong. I've lost 30 lbs so far and would be so discouraged if my momentum stopped. I'm wondering how other cope with stalls? Side note: I've only cheated a couple times. I took some bites of Pasta today. I've been looking forward to this day for so long. I'm on day 6 of the 2 week pre-op diet, and it has been difficult. I really hope it gets better because I've been so tempted to have some carbs. My highest weight was 241, weighed myself today and I'm at 235. My goal is anything under 180, preferably 140 but I'm ok if I don't reach that goal. My biggest fear is failing. Has anyone lost a lot of weight to only gaining back? Will I ever be able to eat out at a restaurant again? June 12 is right around the corner, I am so nervous and excited at the same time.
