Wow what a way to go. I felt it was kind of exploitive. And I kind of felt like the wife had a huge role in his weight. And the doctor in Guam was incompetent and didn't want to help him.

Hi all, I am new to this site - and hoping I can find a lot of support on here. So here's my story.... When I was 18, only 6 months after my birthday I had decided to get the lapband. I have ALWAYS been "the big, little sister", obesity runs in my mothers side of the family & after having a beautiful baby girl when I was 17 (yes, young!) I had reached my heaviest. I went in, with high hopes, but two years later, I am still struggling with my weight at 5'4 & 230lbs. The lapband was HORRIBLE, I would never wish that procedure even on my own enemy.. I was always in pain, couldn't eat ANYTHING without throwing it up... Not even a grape! For 2 years, I just hoped it wo…

I hope I can do this on here. I have started a new group on Facebook for those of us who live in Ohio. I figured there we can come together and talk, give advice, ask for advice, show off our pictures, or just discuss life in general! I have seen a lot of people on message boards, and thought that this would be a better way to get to know each other better!! If you are interested in joining the link is in my siggy, or you can send me your e-mail on here!

YEAH! For any of you that are pre-op still trying to jump through the hoops....keep it up eventually you will be here too!

Hello everyone! I just wanted to stop by to say hello and introduce myself. I’m a 6’0” 320lb, 44 year old male who’s battled weight problems pretty much all my life. I often wondered about surgery as an option to losing weight. But like most I figured surgery was an option only available to the rich and wealthy so I quickly dismissed it. I figured I could lose the weight on my own and I shouldn’t have to resort to such drastic measures. I would eat healthy and exercise and weight would indeed come off…for a short time. I would lose 20lb and before you know it, I would put 25lb back on. As an adult I think my lowest weight was 290lb. After countless start/stops I just came…

CONSTIPATION.....not any easy subject to talk about. Let me tell you a little about myself first and how I came to post this. I am 52 years old and was sleeved Feb. 25, 2013, 83 days ago. I am down 42 pounds. I feel better than I have since I was in my 20's. I am off my cholesterol meds, high blood pressure meds and triglyceride meds. I am coming on here to tell you the mistakes I have made in the last 2 1/2 months that have brought me to tell you all this. I avoided some of the advice that we are given after surgery. For instance, no alcohol, I ate foods I probably shouldn't have before it was time to, etcetera. Why was I setting myself up to fail? I don't know why eit…

Sleeved on 5.17. I can't do any whey, milk, soy protein drinks so I am eating chicken. Pretty much nothing bothers me except protein drinks. But now after I eat, I get a bad headache and want to fall asleep. Tired like its 4 am. The headache and sleepiness goes away after about 30 mins. Does anyone know why this is happening?

I wanted some feedback on your experience post up with weight loss. I'm 7 weeks out and have just lost 30 lbs. I've stuck there for about 2 weeks now and I'm getting worried at this point, even have considered calling my surgeon or primary care. I just went back to work this week and I feel great otherwise. Just wondering if I'm expecting too much too soon. Thanks for sll the support!

Hellooo! I'm 2 hours away from getting banded! Given my natural state of paranoia, every imaginable thought has run through my mind already (what if my liver isn't small enough? what if i'm in massive pain? how will i survive 4-6 weeks on mushy food only? what if i have complications? when will i begin to lose weight? WHEN CAN I START TO EAT AGAIN, EVEN IF IT'S JUST COTTAGE cheese AND Jello???? I'M STARVING! #$^&&)$#(@#) But, I'm still trucking along and would like to begin to share -- in as much detail as possible -- my journey from this moment on... For starters, this morning when I showered, I also had to wash my stomach area with Hibiclens to kill the germ…

Hi everyone! I'm Kelly I have been debating WLS for about two years. Which is kind of funny because in those two years I have gained another 50 lbs! I recently moved for a new job and started seeing a new doctor. We obviously started talking about my weight and he asked me what I have been trying as far as losing weight. I told him all of the many (MANY) attempts at WW, Atkins, every diet you could name. The gym memberships. The hours killing myself at the gym. All to lose a total of 5-10 lbs and then just stop losing altogether. Then I'd get down on myself and give up on the diet saying it wouldn't work. Or stop going to the gym since it didn't do anything anyway. The…

After many months of preperations....I have my arrival time for surgery tomorrow...and I have to be there at 11:30. So hard to believe it is finally time...kinda like preparing for a baby to be born....LOL...And just like in that fashion...I have been "nesting" getting everything cleaned and prepared for my family for the time that I will be in the hospital...did anyone else do this? I have 3 kids ages 3, 8, and 17, and a fiance.....not sure they can survive 48 hours without me!

I wasn't sure which forum to post this in, but are there any ink'd sleevers out there? I have one on my upper back and one on my foot, and I'm also down 60lbs. I suppose due to the placement of mine, I haven't noticed any distortion of any kind. Now, my question is, with 35lbs to lose, would getting a tattoo right now be a bad decision? It would be on my outer thigh, closer to my knee. Do you think a loss of 35lbs would distort it in any way? Should I hold off? What has your experience been? Please no judgments, I know tattoos might not be for everyone, but they're for me and you won't talk me out of it!

I'll be attending the first seminar on the 16th. Needless to say I'm more then excited! Growing up I was a stick. After having my son 28 years ago I've struggled with my weight since. I had a bad break up and list the weight. i recently remarried (#3) and gained all the weight back and more. I realize I am a emotional eater. I've gained 26 pound s since September 2012. My insurance covers the surgery. I've already called and checked my deductible and have selected the surgeon and hospital ill use. It has been very helpful reading your stories. Please give me advice and support. Thank you very much.

Hello everyone, I know I have not been on here in a while but I just wanted to give and update on my progress. Word of encouragement, hang in there. I've been sleeved over a year and I'm still losing weight. I was stuck at 170 for over 6 months and I honestly thought that was it but finally the stall broke. I'm very happy and now I'm living my life again. I have taken back everything that the Devil stole from me. I'm walking in victory.

I had my surgery on Monday! Had a little complication and lost about 3 pints of blood! Was discharged last night and slept in the recliner at home! Pain isn't as bad today. Just weak from the blood loss. But all will get better! I was excited to get home and start my full liquids. Got up walked around the house and made my own breakfast consisting of a protein shake and oatmeal. I was surprised oatmeal is considered full liquid. But it's great to have something with a little texture.

Hi, I'm so glad I found this blog for sleevers, I don't have a big support group and this looks like a great place to be ... I live in Texas (dfw) and getting sleeved today ... I'm so excited and yet very nervous. It's taken me some time to consider if this would be a good option for me because I have chronic neuro pain disease called RSD (Reflux Sympathetic Dystrophy) that I got from a foot surgery so just the idea of going thru another surgery is very scary to me but since my disease I've gained over 100 pounds and since my mobility is not what it use to be I really feel this is my best option.. Thanks for reading my post and looking forward to joining this great group.…

There once was a boy, a huge ginormous boy who never really fit in. He would walk around slowly and breathlessly. Many would stare, kids would giggle and point. This boy was super content with his life but he knew something needed to change. So he became a women.... Wait no that's not right. He decided to have wls surgery, yes much better. So one night on Halloween a tummy fairy came along and tore out his stomach. And it was painful. He had to learn how to reeat. He followed the Fairys instructions to the T. He also found a site with people who had the same thing occur. Some of them who are nice, others who aren't. Six months later this boy loses 117 lbs and walks at a b…

I am reading lots of stories about weigh loss after the sleeve and I'm starting to feel discouraged.. Mine is scheduled for July, I had only spoke to a few (8) people about this over the last year and they were all extremely successful, for example one lady was 382 lbs the day of surgery and in 6 months she was down 160 lbs and in a year she was down another 75 lbs I was amazed at her transformation. She now (3 years out) weighs only 116 lbs!!! The others all lost well over 100 lbs in less than 6 months, now your wondering why I'm feeling discouraged... Well since I joined this page I have gone through and read several stories, one is 47 lbs in 6 months, 100 lbs in 14 mo…

Hi my name is Grace and I am 25 years old. I am the mother of 4 beautiful children... 2 of which are band babies! I had my Pre-op in January 2010 with my mother. Her and I decided to do this together. I weighed in at 359 in January! Over the summer I lost 30lbs and then had my surgery on October 25, 2010. I was doing good continued to lose another 15lbs met the love of my life fell in love and bc of a failure with my mirena placement I became pregnant with my third child! She was born a year and 2 days after my band placement! I then lost another 10lbs and was doing great was down to 290lbs and in July of 2012 I found out I was pregnant with my fourth and final child (thi…

Hello Bandster Family! So I'm sitting here and thinking to myself--I can't believe this is actually going to happen. And it's not so much that I am "actually" having the the WLS so much as it is that I will finally have a tool to help me keep my weight at a healthy level for life. As I would imagine most of us have, I have struggled with the weight issue my whole life. The whole "fat kid" teasing, the starvation to get slim only to gain it all back and then some in the teen years...and a couple more times as an adult..being overweight most of my life...the self loathing for not having "control". My surgery date is set for June 20,2013. I have not told anyone yet, …

I went to my PCP today to get a letter required from my insurance to say that she believes the sleeve will help me greatly in weightless. I had gone 6 weeks ago to get the letter but she wanted me to lose weight first so she could see I could do it. So it helped that I was doing my medically supervised weight loss (also required by my insurance) and come to find out I've lost 10 pounds in 6 weeks! Which for me I awesome. So today she has the nerve to tell me I should hold off surgery and continue eating healthy and lose weight that way. It made me soo mad. I have been seeing this doctor for the past 8 years. She knows my history of weight issues. (Not to mentions she is …

Hi everyone:) I just found this forum and thought it was great! Wish I could have found it sooner with all the questions I had before my surgery but I'm sure I will have more. I hope I can help someone too with their questions on their WL journey as well. I was banded March 15, 2013. Had my first fill April 26, 2013. I've lost 28 pounds so far. No problems with the band yet but still seeking my green zone. I love my band and look forward to my transformation and new life. Look forward to chatting with all of you:)

Hello Everyone, I was wondering if maybe some of you have done research on self-pay cash prices for the procedure in southern california? My insurance covers Lap-Band but not the sleeve. I origanlly went to a seminar for Lap-Band with Dr. Naim in Costa Mesa and he started talking about the sleeve. I have done an extensive research on the subject over the weekend and I think I want the sleeve over the band. But my insurance says no... So does any of you know of a reliable good surgeon with a reasonable price?

Hello to all!! I am very new to this so please bare with me. I would like to share my story. I am 32 yrs. old and I had my surgery on 04/15/2013. I had gastric bypass. HW 367 = 2wks liquid= SW 350 and now 5 1/2 weeks out my current weight is 326lbs. I chose to have surgery because even though I wasn't ill I had a lot of hormone issues due to my insulin, PCOS, HBP, and sleep apnea. My husband and I were trying to have a baby so all my tests came back and said that I was fine except for my hormones being unleveled. The doctors suggested that I lose weight but he did agree to go further with medication if I wanted to try and conceive. At first I was like yes but then…

Has anyone had a carpal tunnel release surgery? I am being sleeved on June 19th and have just been diagnosed with severe carpal tunnel. Some research says that it can be caused by obesity. Anyway, I was thinking to have the carpal tunnel release, on both hands, the weeke before my sleeve surgery. If anyone has had this surgery, your feedback would be appeciated. Recovery time? How did you shower and use the bathroom the first few days after? Thanks!

Went to the seminar last night and when I went there I had my mind set on the lap band. But after the surgeon went over all 3 procedures (band, sleeve and gastric bypass) the sleeve kinda sounds good too. I guess my question is how did you guys decide on lap band over any other procedure?
