Ok I had my surgery May 10 so I'm in week two. I was able to eat 2 small pieces bake fish & a small circle of mashed potato no butter no salt. I feel satisfied not full was that to much food to soon. I chewed chewed chewed I'm feeling less restrictions. I go to back to the doctor on the 31 to get adjusted. I feel as I been following my handbook to the letter. I'm also feeling my clothes have a little more room in them. Two weeks is a long time but I'm learning discipline.'I've never had that. I'm also excited about being able to exercise Is this normal

I can't believe I actually just wrote that, let alone that it's true. I never thought I would be able to get sleeved, but did some homework and found hospital Jerusalem in Mexico who would perform the surgery on me. I started at 220 and am down 14 pounds on day 8. I'm shocked. I was very excited at first but had a rough time afterward. I had tremendously, really bad acid reflux the first few days. It hasvot much better just some here in there and when I drink cold. I stayed in Mexico for 5 days, 2 too many. The nurses we're not really nurses and no one seemed to know what they were asked a question. The biggest thing was that they didn't understand, even when they say the…

Hello, this is my story so far. Four years ago I went in for a lap band. My stomach was perforated but they didn't pick it up and I left the hospital in some pain which escalated over a few days to a 'please just kill me' type of agony. I was rushed in for emergency surgery one night and they opened me right up, took out my band, and cleared it up in there. The next three days I was in ICU and nearly died, and then the next seven days I was on the ward. Those seven days were the worst. I have pretty bad back problems and can't sleep on my back. Because of the abdominal surgery it was impossible to sleep on my side. I was hooked up to all these machines and a catheter a…

It's been awhile since I have posted here, actually I havent posted since my surgery on 2/13/13, I have been a lil angry and didnt want to give anyone the wrong impression of a proceedure that could save their life. First a lil bit about myself, I weighed over 320 before my surgery I am now at 277 have A-fib, take heart meds and a blood thinner. Prior to my surgery I was to stop taking my blood thinner (5 days prior) well I forgot and started 4 days prior but I did inform my doctor of my mistake, he said not to worry. I was admitted the nite before surgery so they could monitor my blood and the numbers were still a lil high so the morning of surgery they gave me plasma…

Surgery was on Friday. Surgery itself was uneventful, but I had bad reactions to several meds and suffered from severe nausea. Today was my first coherent day and it took me 11 hours to get down 30oz. to be able to come home. 4 days in hospital. :-( Hubby has been amazing taking care of me. Second guessing myself? Absolutely. Hoping two weeks from now things are better? You better believe it.

I started a trial run with the Pre-op diet but I have been puttin fruit in it just to see if I would be able to stomach the protien. I must admit it has not been as bad as I thought it would be, haven't been as hungry or even really wanting much to eat. I have also started walking 30 min a day, so I am really hoping that that when I actually start the Pre-Op diet on the 29th it. won't be so bad. Has anyone tried the diet befor hand and if so how did you do when u actually started your diet?

He seemed so confident with his weight and I never thought it was an issue for him. In a recent interview he talked about a meeting with a Dr who liken WLS to surgery to remove a disease. Most don't look at obesity as a disease. They just see us as fat overeaters. Good for him.

Ok guys. I have lost 6lbs so far which is about 1-2 lbs per day with this liquid diet. I just have two more days on liquids. I havent had any nausea but the large incision pain is excruciating when I move. The pain meds do very little for that. My tummy is still swollen but none of the smaller incisions hurt at all. You dont realize how many muscles u were using to simply sit and stand until your stomach has been pulled through them. Lol I actually had a normal formed stool today which usually doesnt happen for a full week. But yay anyway. I walk every hour for a couple minutes. Pee every 2 hrs. Oh yeah, coughing up surgical leftover mucous hurts like hell. So …

Let's start this conversation off by saying I used to be a model in atl, and i loved it. I had thousands of fans and to say the very least, men (and women) threw themselves at me. flattering right? let's fast forward three years... I met my son's father. The first six months, HEAVEN. The last 6.5 years? HELL. He abused me. Physically. Sexually. and emotionally. I went from 36dd.26.44 (yes, i had a boob job. dont judge me) to 40G.39.52. I looked in the mirror, and I cried. Constantly. How could I not? I went from vixen to fat chick and I hated that chick in the mirror. So, I did something about it. The weight wasn't coming off so I opted for surgery and boy was I nervo…

Please share what a few days look like as far as what you are eating. Anyone know any good websites with recipes and meal plans? One of the biggest reasons I have struggled in the past (pre lap band) is poor meal planning. I do not want that to cause failure now but I am struggling to find good ideas. Thanks for any support and direction!!

I've had my initial meeting with my PCP who supported my decision to pursue the band, and she referred me to an area surgeon - and we had our consult this week. nice enough guy, really liked his nurse. anyhow - he thought the band would be great for me, and also mentioned the sleeve several times. at the end i asked him - just based on what he knows of me in an hour, which he'd recommend - and he said the sleeve. in part because he thinks it will help me meet my goals best, and partially because i travel regularly for work and this would eliminate any band challenges when i'm on the road. he also said that any complications with the sleeve tend to happen in the short …

I hope I can do this on here. I have started a new group on Facebook for those of us who live in Ohio. I figured there we can come together and talk, give advice, ask for advice, show off our pictures, or just discuss life in general! I have seen a lot of people on message boards, and thought that this would be a better way to get to know each other better!! If you are interested in joining the link is in my siggy, or you can send me your e-mail on here!

Hey all, I had my sleeve done 48 hours ago, I came home after about 35 hours, the surgeon and nurses were highly impressed with my recovery so they let me leave. My biggest problem was all the gas pain it shot up to my shoulders and was quite uncomfortable. I am pleased to say, no gas pain today! My surgeon has given me these small injections to use on my stomach, I have a needle phobia and even with my mum around I still haven't been able to inject myself today. Apart from that I am so glad I had it done. I feel fine no pain whatsoever and no complaints. I will keep you all updated

Rny is not popular yet in Australia. I often read on the American sites about how much hoo haa you all have to go through with your insurance..we are lucky here I guess. If the doc says that you need it done that's the end of the story. I think that if I wasn't for my band giving me terrible reflux that they would make me have the sleeve instead. I don't know anyone who has bypass. Tho know heaps of people that have the band or sleeve. It was hard to find a surgeon that does rny in Australia. In fact my surgeon practiced in the USA. In on Monday for my surgery....so scared.

I had my surgery done on may 6th. Started at 436 and I am at 420 today. I have had no issues with food, water or protein. I am however quite sore. My drainage tube came out 3 days ago and I got even worse. Is this normal. Seems like most people don't have pain like me.

I am starting to get discouraged. I was sleeved on April 8th (abt. 6 weeks ago), and so far have lost 32 lbs. I was hoping it would be more! I am also having problems with my blood pressure medication, and dehydration. There are days I can drink Water and get in all I need, and then there are days that the thought of water and food just makes me sick Even though I know I need. I am not walking like I should be. Actually I am not walking at all. I am too weak to walk. There are times my legs feel like a hundred pounds. I know why, one of my meds for high blood pressure. I've been to my doc. I am just upset because I thought my progress would be going better than what it…

Hello everyone, my name is Louise, and I'm new to this site. I'm 48, married to a great man, and mother to a beautiful 6 year old son with autism. The reason I'm here is that for the last 4 years, I've been miserable with a lapband. I live on soup, protein drinks, purees, soft foods, and ice cream. Even with that, I regurgitate and get food stuck multiple times a day, even water and yogurt often get stuck-- this is with NO FLUID in my band. The first year was great, and I lost about 40 pounds, but then things started to go downhill with the band, to where I am today. I have finally accepted that this is not my failure- this is my band's failure!! My surgeon …

Just had my five month anniversary a week ago and an down 115 from surgery and 140 total. I can't tell you in how many ways my life has changed. I could have filled a legal pad with uncomfortable and embarrassing moments in my life because of my weight. People I have known for 10 years don't recognize me when I see them, that feels awesome! I have had to buy new clothes, I fit differently behind the steering wheel of my car. It goes on and on. I know a lot of people say they wish they would have done it sooner. My opinion on that is you do it when you are ready and embrace it! I was finally mentally ready to climb this mountain and I know that is why I have been so su…

While I'm finishing up on doc appointments, procedures and insurance I've been thinking of what the most difficult part of this journey will be. I think the most difficult part for me once its all done and I'm recovering will be the chewing my food until its almost liquid. I'm a chew couple times, swallow whole type of person. So I was wondering what has been the hardest part to deal with as you are becoming more used to your new life style?
