I had my WLS on 10/1/12 and to date have only lost 63#. I know I have eaten a few things I am not supposed to but have been back on track for a month now and still no weight loss. I haven't gained any but no weight loss is upsetting any ideas?

Hi everyone. I am new to the group. Attended a seminar a year ago, but found out my insurance company doesn't cover WLS. So I took a year, saved like crazy and now am self paying for gastric bypass. I cannot wait. I was cleared from everything on Friday, now just waiting for surgery date. I am nervous, but so ready for this. I have been heavy my entire life, always being the big girl in the room. I am sure like most heavy people, always sure everyone was watching me when I came into a room, laughing or just disgusted by me. I met a wonderful man that I married, but my weight ballooned after getting married and then I didn't want to be seen by him, so needless to say ou…

So I'm still in the hospital it's been 7 days. First I want to say I picked a great surgeon I think if I had gone to anyone else I'd be a lot worse and many be even dead. Basically, when my Dr. went in he found that I had a bleeding spleen and a large liver with a lot of scarring tissue on it from my lap band. Afterward It was really hard for me to wake up and come around because my lungs apparently don't do well going under anesthesia. My heart rate stayed around 140 and would go up to 165. My heart rate in combination with my lung issues made it very hard for me to heal properly and get better. I think my doctor was surprised with everything that was going on because …

I knew there would have to be one and I just stumbled on it but I think I have a solution. My surgeon's office sent me a letter stating that in order to get an appt with the surgeon I had to pay a balance from a previous surgery.... I had been paying a little bit at a time but there's no way I can pay the balance anytime in the near future (hubby's out of work, living on strick budget). I wanted to cry! Then I realized that there is another surgeon in the area who does lap band. Called the weight loss center and asked them if I could change surgeons. They told me yes but I have to attend the new surgeon's seminar and its not until next Thursday. I went ahead and si…

This is the best thing I could have ever done for myself, my kids and my husband. My 8 yo daughter wrote me a poem that said she was proud of me for being a "dare devil" for doing my surgery. Lol, so sweet. Happy Moms Day to all the other brave Sleever moms out there! And even if you are not a mom, you are still brave superstar Sleever in my book. Enjoy this beautiful day!

Today I weigh 180! My new goal is 170! This has been the best thing I have ever done for myself! Check out my gallery to see some before, after and during pics - the change is amazing! My husband is taking me shopping this weekend - for size 10's!!!! Check out my signature below to see my progression - some months were slower than others....but there was always a loss.... If I never lose another pound - I am perfectly happy with where I am at now. My hair is getting thicker again, my skin isn't too bad....I mean, I have had 3 kids - those are my tiger stripes - right?? If you are hesitant - don't be - Go for it! I didn't think it would work for me - I didn…

Is this possible? I was sleeved on Wednesday morning. In the hospital I felt sore and worn out, but used a lot of pain meds and managed well. I came home yesterday evening and decided not to take any more narcotics because they were keeping me from passing gas, which was uncomfortable. But I feel great today! I'm NOT complaining, just wondering if this is some kind of pain free honeymoon and if better get ready to Feel rough again soon. I have walked a lot and my surgeon used the On-Q pump, which is still in My stomach delivering local anesthetic for incisional pain. Anyway, I am super happy with recovery so far, just a little surprised. Anyone else have this experience…

I am stunned by the egos on here. I am a loyal person on this site. But the Egos on this site are overshadowing the whole helpful community. If people were to realize we ALL had the same EXACT surgery that it makes us equals. You are no better or no less than the poster before or after you. Where is the helpfulness? I'm so tired of reading these people who shake their fingers at people who decide to take a different road then themselves.( except in the cases where the person is obviously not following their docs advice and is drinking and eating stuff they should right after surgery) You had the surgery for the exact same reason I did. We are fat, what the hell happened t…

Hi: To date I have lost over 60 pounds since march 25th 2013. Oh yes its nice to lose this kind of weight, but in some cases, such as: diabetes & its complications, high blood pressure, edema, congestive heart failure, and respiratory problems, can be life threatning . I have all of these and more. But since I have lost this weight, the one thing I didn't see coming was the change in medications . As the body loses the fat, the same dosage may be too much and cause many side effects. This is where you need to see your pcp to have them adjust your medication as you go along. I didn't know this and went threw some awkward things such as; dizziness, passing out, fa…

hi All, I can search through zillions of success stories on here but not a lot of unsuccesful ones which is making me wonder if i'm the only one?? I was sleeved back in September and it all went textbook perfect. I had zero issues with recovery and was not in any pain or anything. I was getting used to eating small amounts but did struggle to figure out how much was enough. At first i was worried that i was eating too little, then confused because the amounts i could get in were not at all consistent. My last appointment was in November and i was told i'd lost 20kg which they said was a bit slow and could have been due to me previously being banded. Now i can ea…

Hi Everyone I have had an up and down journey with my band, I was banded in July 2009 and on going for my first fill in august my port had flipped so in sept I had to go back in and have it re-set. Things were great until sept 2010 when again my port flipped so back to surgery I went. This has happened a total of 4 times the last of which was in november last year when I had dropped from 122 kilos to 89.9 kilos. Since november I have had issue after issue and i am back up to 104 kilos . I went in and had the port re-positioned on April 5th but when I went to have a fill it turns out I now have either a leak or the band has eroded. I'm not sure what to do now as I am g…

I had my sleeve surgery on 3/8/2013 ,i am 2 weeks post op and from day one I have been having a lot of discomfort , pain and spasms in the abdomen ,things started to worsen last week when I had episodes of vomiting after I drink any liquid or even after my chewable vitamins ,my surgeon ordered barium test that showed no leak but v narrow area where liquid is barely passing,I cant not tolerate things like cream of wheat,Greek yogurt ,i would vomit anything other than warm to hot liquids and I was starting to get dehydrated ,I was admitted to hospital for IV fluids and endoscopy to see what was going on! This morning I had the endoscopy which showed a functional obstruction…

Back in 1997 I had the gastroplasty done and lost 120 pounds and for the past five years weight started coming back on. Met with Dr. Felix Spiegel and suggested reversing the gastroplasty and going with the lap band this was done on May 3rd. I have had people ask me if I would do the surgery again and here I am. Hope to lose more weight and keep it off. Back in 97 we had no support groups or social groups to talk about the surgery and support this time is different more people support my decision. Onward with the weight loss.

I was just googling some info, and this app forum came up. I swear I almost cried. I have huge support from my family, but I'm the one going through it. My sleeve date was May 1. The new beginning of my life. I've always battled with weight, my family and friends know I'm healthy. No underlined n medical problems whatsoever, my blood pressure is that of an athlete. Anyway. I got it done bc I was tired of being fat. And I worked out, walked dieted. And still fat! Just healthy. My recovery was good, I was in the hospital longer due to me being nauseated. Goodness that was a mess, come to find out. It was one of the meds that was supposed to stop the nausea that was causing …

So, I have a tentative surgery date of June 17th!!! Super super excited! My primary care doctor already gave me the green light! I get my pre-approval blood work done tomorrow and my Letter of Necessity will be ready for me by this Friday. I do my psych eval next Thursday and my first dietician appointment next Wednesday. Hoping that my insurance approval paper work will be sent in by 5/20/13. Praying that the approval comes back quickly! My pre-op appointment with my surgeon and my cardiopulmonary test are on the same day (6/3/13). This is all happening so quickly and I am trying my best to keep my anxiety at bay! I decided to go with the gastric sleeve. Anyone else goin…

I am currently trying to decide if I want to do this. Last year I got to the nutrition part & my mother talked me outa it. Now my coworker is having it. She is excited but nervous. She is considering the sleeve. While I don't wanna be big forever I like to eat. I would love to be small and be able to do the adventurous stuff I am dying to try. I keep going between having it or not. Then if so do I band or sleeve? I've never been so big in all my life!!!!!! Ant advise would be great!

I'll be attending the first seminar on the 16th. Needless to say I'm more then excited! Growing up I was a stick. After having my son 28 years ago I've struggled with my weight since. I had a bad break up and list the weight. i recently remarried (#3) and gained all the weight back and more. I realize I am a emotional eater. I've gained 26 pound s since September 2012. My insurance covers the surgery. I've already called and checked my deductible and have selected the surgeon and hospital ill use. It has been very helpful reading your stories. Please give me advice and support. Thank you very much.

Hi everyone. It's been a long time since I've dropped by, but I just want to give an up date and a word of encouragement. I had my one year post-op yesterday. It was a bit late (2/14/12 surgery), but anywho. I was down #160 (335-175), twenty dress sizes (28-8) and over 252 inches. If I can do this, anyone can. I had my toes in the grave. I was on 21 meds and the doc told me I would die that way...whether I lost weight or not. Because of my problems he (my PCP) didn't think I would lost a huge amount (50-60#), but he encouraged me to have it do so I could 'feel a little better about myself.' Well, I'm glad to say I proved him wrong. I did lose weight and a lot of it. I als…

Hello everyone. I've been lurking on this board for the past couple of months, and finally got my band yesterday. My surgeon is Dr. Michaelson at Northwest Weight Loss Surgery. So far I'm doing well. Lost 7 lbs. in 11 days of my pre-op diet, have lost another pound since yesterday, no nausea so far, pain controlled by lortab... but I feel like I need to burp! I've tried some chewable Gas-X, but it doesn't seem to be helping. Anyone else got ideas? Anyway, just wanted to introduce myself finally!

I've noticed that people on here can be very judgmental and mean!! So I've been skeptical about posting this....but anyways I was sleeved 3/13 I'm down 50lbs and to be honest I eat what I want (not a whole lot i have restriction duh!)..nooo I'm not saying I eat fat greasy foods...but yes I eat bread ...yes I buy low fat crackers and pretzels....I do watch my sugar intake but maybe one day out the week I'll have a frozen cappuccino or a few cookies...my point is I've done my research and your body needs carbs and fat without it you will definitely "STALL" judge me if you like I just wanted to share that...for all you people that wants to judge me keep your comments to you…

I'm new to the site. Been struggling with my weight for 10-12 years now and have decided to do the gastric sleeve. I've got all the referals, 5 yr history and psych evals in and will get seeing the surgeon in about a week. Maybe looking at having the surgery in October. Right now my BMI is 38, but has fluctuated between 37 and 45 the past 10 years. I exercise pretty well (3-4 days a week), but my appetite and even the types of food I eat are the real issues. I'm stocking up on the necessary supplements and liquid shakes that will be needed. I'm ready to roll with this! Any comments, suggestions or things anyone thinks I need to know or be aware of will be apprecia…

I'm 3 and a half weeks post band and although at first I lost about 13lbs I was always starving. Once I realized I could eat whatever I wanted without any problem I started doing so. I've gained about 8 lbs back. I'm so dissappointed with myself and the outcome of this surgery this far, I'm depressed and don't know what to do. I see my dr nxt Tuesday and I will get my first fill then and I'm hoping that will give me the restriction I need as I also hope to get the green light to start exercising, which I haven't done in about two months. Has this happened to anybody? How and when did it turn around for you?

I have been thinking about WLS for quite some time, and I have found myself to finally have the health insurance, time away from work, and finances to maybe make this thing happen. My father and step mother each have had the band with (in my opinion) lack-luster results. My step mom did have quite a but more luck than my dad, but it seems that they both have had some issues with the band and I just knew I didn't want to go that route..... Initially, I really was leaning for the RNY but the no NSAIDs thing I don't think I can live with because I don't know what health issues I may have in the future so I don't want to cut such a broad class of drugs out of the picture. I a…

Hi all, I had my surgery on April 2nd. I'm one month out and I feel like I'm trapped in a closet. I don't know what to eat. I was told my my nutritionist to start soft food. But I'm already tired of baked and grilled fish. Chicken makes me sick and I don't eat pork. I really need help, I don't know what to eat when to eat and the only thing I really like to eat is applesauce and Popsicles. I need to know how to make this surgery a success. Please Help!!!!

I have been looking at the lap band surgery for about 7-8 years now. In those years I have lost weight successfully and gained it back successfully. I have never reached my goal weight though, I give up once I lose 20 #'s. I think I am finally going to get this done. It will be a self pay so it was hard for me to decide to spend this much money on myself. I have an appointment with my surgeon on Dec 1st to talk about it. Now that I have decided to do it I am nervous. All of sudden I started wondering, will I ever be able to eat good food again, remember I'm from Louisiana and we have real good food  I do remember that on one of my many diets that we went t…

Hi Everyone, As the title suggests, I'm a newbie! I've been visiting the forum for the last 2 weeks reading everyones amazing stories. Other forums on the net seem to focus so much on the negatives, but I'm looking for support! Glad I found this place. I'm not far into my journey yet. I went to the seminar in April, had initial consultation with the surgeon on May 8th. And now the fun begins! I hope to meet lots of new people that are on a similar journey. Be good to you!

I just found this app. I am new to things like this. However I have my surgery scheduled for June 11th and it's exciting. I see my surgeon for pre-op on Monday. I believe I will end up starting my two week diet on or the day after my 30th birthday. I hope to go into my 30s more healthy and I am sure more happy. I can not wait to exercise without this load on me. I'm sure my body will not look perfect but I will be able to do much more than I can now which is exciting. I cannot ride my bicycle so that is one of my goals and who knows maybe I will like it so much that I will find other bike people to ride with. We will see. It has to be better than where I am now.

Please, anyone with experience on life after gastric sleeve surgery. I had mine exactly today 1 year ago (May 10th, 2012), it was self payed with a lot of sacrifice, and I´m now having a panic attack. I started with 264 pounds and now I´m at 198. I don´t know what is going on? Only 66 pounds down. I thought I´d lost much more. I see on internet people that has lost between 80 and 100 pounds by now. I was told this surgery was right for me but know I think i should have gone with the bypass. I´m so afraid of have throwned my money away. I eat good, a lot of Protein, veggies, brown rice, brown Pasta, hardly bread, and specially, I don´t drink soda. So i don´t know what …

Hi everyone I'm new to the forum. I thought long and hard before I had the RenY done. My surgery was April fool's day this year. I had a tough recovery because I don't tolerate pain meds well, so I stopped them the day after surgery. I also have a severe panic disorder and crushing 8 pills at night is tough, but Walden Farms sugar free chocolate syrup saved my life once I got home. First 2 1/2 weeks were hellish. I'm feeling much better now though. I have lost 45 pounds in the first month. I am 6 feet tall and did weight 305. I know I'm just into a new month, but I haven't lost any in a few days. I do my very best to get my 60 grams of protein in, and I love wat…
