  2. I am 7 1/2 months out and down 121 pounds. I have been at a stall for a few weeks, but am really losing inches even thought the scale isn't moving right now. I don't mind it one bit! I started in a size 26/28 pants size. This weekend I went shopping and bought... get this a size 13 in the juniors section... OMG I could not beleive it, a size 13... that is half of what I was wearing before.. The last time I bought juniors size clothing was in elememntary school! Another amazing NSV was the for the first time in my life I was able to shop at Vistoria Secrets... 112$ later and it was super worth it... I have never felt so normal in my life.. I had my first appt yesterday. Loking at surgery around late summer. The nurse told me I should expect to lose 60%of my excess weight. I am female and 245 pounds as of now (my highest weight). She said I should expect to get to 185 pounds. To me that's still big considering my ideal weight according to the nurse is 145. I was hoping to get to at least 150--or less. Does this sound realistic? I'm kind of discouraged.....

Hi, I was wondering who here had similar stats to mine. I am 31 5'6.5", 257lbs BMI ~44. I just started my journey and have my first NUT appt. May 6. I am an active person and enjoy running outside but have problems with my diet (obviously) so was looking for a permanent solution to help me stay at a healthy weight. I would love to hear about your journey and see pics, especially those that have similar stats to mine. Hopefully by the end of this year, since I have to do 6 months of NUT appts., I will have my surgery and join these success stories!

My pre-op weight was 183. I didn't do the pre-op diet. I wasn't disciplined enough to even do a pre-op diet. I had my surgery on 2-28-13. I am now 173. I am 5'2". My goal weight is 125lbs. Although I am not hungry, I am craving everything. I have found that just smelling or licking the food will take that craving away. Is it normal that my weight loss is slow? I thought I should have lost more by now.

Good evening, I am typing this on my iPad sitting in my chair in my hospital room. My surgery was this morning at 10:45. I am writing this to try and share a few things about my surgery so far. Let's work backwards. I already told you I am out of bed and in a chair in my hospital room. I did a few laps of my ward about an hour ago. The first lap I felt some tightness in my gut. The second lap I was standing upright and walking better. By the third lap I was walking almost normal. Still taking short steps, but felt pretty good. Getting out of the bed was the best thing I did all day. I was in the bed for a few hours after surgery in my r…

Thought I'd stop in and introduce myself especially as my surgery date approaches. I found this site after reading the big book on lap band. I've struggled with my weight all my life. I started blood pressure meds in my 30's and was started on another last October. I've noticed on recent blood work my blood sugar levels and cholesterol rising. So felt it was time to do something before my counter is overcome with medication bottles. In the past, I checked into lap band but at the time didn't feel I could follow the "plan". This time I went to a seminar and then met with the surgeon and it felt different. I am now in a better place and ready to tackle my weight! It took m…

I have read so many posts from people doing their Pre Op for upcoming surgery. and I am so Puzzled how this process can be so dramatically different. My surgeon only requires a liquid diet the day prior to surgery, but I also have seen posts from some of a 3 Day Pre Op liquid diet, 2 Week Pre Op liquid diet, 1 Month Pre Op liquid diet. I am really puzzled how this process can be so different. I am grateful that mine is only 1 day prior, as i honestly would find 2 weeks or longer on liquids very difficult. I know my Surgeon and his partners know their stuff as the have 30 years of combined experience, and this is all they do at ALSA Bariatric Center in Fresno , they al…

It's been sometimes difficult...but mostly this has been a great adventure. I was sleeved on 2/22/13. Highest weight was 256. Surgery weight was 239. Current weight 199. NO REGRETS!!!!

I stumbled on to this site while looking for Post-Op food alternatives. I never have time to go to support group work/family and I've never been comfortable sharing. But I know that it is beneficial during this entire process. So at my heaviest after having my second child was 261 pounds. While I'd like to blame it on pregnancy I can't because I lost all the weight (27 lbs) that I gained during my pregnancy. When I started my 6-month monitiored weight loss I was 259 lbs. By surgery date I was 235 (I think). I had my procedure done by the Maryland Weight Management by Dr. David vonRueden. I have to say I really love his practice there is so much support pre-op and post…

  29. So I am one month post op today. I got on the scale this morning so I could see where I landed in the world of losing after a month and I was up 0.1 from yesterday (I know, I know, I said I was going to quit getting on the scales every day and I'm trying, but...). Anyway, we took my 1 month post op pictures last night and I have to say that I was a little disappointed. I can see very little change in myself other than some in my face. I know it takes time. I guess the silly part of my brain was expecting to see a big difference in my pictures from a month ago. I am down 19.8 pounds since surgery and down 64.3 pounds since my highest weight. I am about 4 months out and have lost52 lbs. more than half way to goal. I just worked up the courage to apply for two really great jobs. One as a nursing school instructor and one as a charge nurse in labor and delivery. I'm not sure I will qualify because it has been 10 years since I last worked. I felt to bad about myself to even think about re-entering the work force But today I got two calls. One was an invitation to send in my résumé. The second call is for an interview for Friday!! Never would I have had the guts to even apply before the surgery. I am hopeful for the first time in a long time. Hit 'like' to give me a boost and some encouragement …

Hi all. I am new here and it all seems a bit overwhelming, yet there seems to be a lot of support. I live in NE Ohio, am a chemist, have a beautiful Chinese wife (for the last 12 years), a GORGEOUS, not to mention smart daughter working in Texas, four cats and getting a puppy (mostly to tell me when it is time to go for a walk). It will help a lot that I will be retiring in another year or so and will actually have TIME to exercise properly too. My surgery is scheduled for May 21st and I'll be starting Optifast on April 29th. So, naturally, all my "friends" are plying me with food, convinced that I will never be able to eat again. But all that will stop this weekend…

  37. I had my sleeve surgery 10 months ago yesterday! I started at 308 and now am down to 180- I've lost 128 lbs! I could not be more proud of myself. Going from a size 24 pant and 3x shirt to a size 9-10 pant and medium shirt feels amazing! I struggled for 23 years with my weight! I can honestly say I have no regrets! To me I lost 447 lbs because I got rid of a guy who brought me down and wouldn't let me shine!! I have now found love with an incredible man who supports me and loves me unconditionally! I am proud of everyone who has had or going to have the sleeve! Be proud

So, I had my surgery in June. I've lost the equivalent of a young adult - 113 lbs. And, I just can't seem to get the rest off. Feeling very frustrated, but not deflated and I certainly don't feel like a failure. I joined this site for guidance. I've been at 200 for about a year now and I eat well, exercise often. Now that I will be donating a kidney to my mother in the near future, I want very much to lose this last little bit. Does anyone have any suggestions or tips for me? Thanks.

So my surgery is tomorrow have to be at the hospital at 6:30 AM. Have been on the liquid diet so far just protein shakes for breakfast, lunch and broth for dinner. It's not too bad the anxiousness I feel is not letting me feel hungry. It's such a strange feeling I have nerves and excitement to see the changes in my body. I'm putting myself in gods hands and am sure he made this process so easy for a reason. Just wanted to say thanks to everyone for their feedback and stories they have definitely made this process a little better to deal with. Wish me luck

First I want to say that this post is just for fun. I just happened to think to myself the other day...If there was a such thing as getting VSG & then being able to somehow have my regular sized stomach back AFTER I reach goal, Would I do it??????? If it were possible, which we know it's not & easily done...Would I do it?? What do you all think? Hmmmm....I have mixed feelings. I feel that by time I get to goal, I will have enough experience, training, will power, whatever to be able to live with a normal sized stomach & still maintain the loss. I'd like to see what you all think.
