My name is Michael, and I am 6 weeks post surgery. I had my vertical sleeve done on April 15th. I weighed in, the morning of surgery at 364 pounds. Today is May 25th and I now weigh in at 307 pounds. The first week after surgery was the hardest. I did not get sick, but I did realize how much visual stimulants I used to see that would trigger my eating. I was on a clear liquid diet, but every food commercial I saw, made me want to eat. Before surgery, I never noticed how tv effected me. After the first week I started with soft foods based on my doctor. I can tell you the cream of chicken Soup never tasted so good. Cream of mushroom was awesome, and I do not like mushroo…

Hello everyone. This is my first time posting on VST. I have my VSG surgery on June 3rd and I'm two days into my low carb pre op diet (30-40 carbs a day). I have been getting really bad head aches. No migraines, just head aches. Is it because of the diet? I drink a lot of water (72 oz/day) so is there something else I can do? Does it go away? Thanks for the advice in advance. Steph

  8. I have lost 120 pounds in 7 months since my surgery. I want to lose 10 more pounds to be at goal weight. I have been reviewing my doctors maintenance plan and I'm nervous to start eating more. I am still having issues getting in all my liquids and I get full really fast (good thing I guess). I get dizzy constantly and just had to get more blood work on Friday to seenwhatbis going on. The nutritionalist wants me to eat more...almonds perhaps but I am so afraid. I bought them but nervous. Any thoughts or suggestions?

  11. Hey, Just wanted to introduce myself. I am a 28-year-old full time college student finishing up my degree in Elementary Education. I've been battling with my weight since I was about 10 years old. My weight has caused many problems in my life and I see it getting worse as I get older. I come from a family were both of my parents are morbidly obese. I've been thinking about getting the Lap Band for about a year now but wanted to try other options before I went with one that is so drastic. Like almost everyone else on this forum I've tried every type of weight loss pill, exercise, program, etc. out there. In the beginning of March (2013) I hit my highest weight of …

If you saw one of my earlier posts asking the removal of the drainage tube and how that felt, surprisingly that was the biggest thing I was concerend with in this surgery; not the possibility of risks, not the posibility of no weight loss. Had my surgery on Tuesday morning. Took the nurses quite a while to find find a vein to start the IV. The told me that most overweight people have this problem so I shouldn't worry. I was little upset because I drank so many Clear liquids the two days up to it and still they had problems. The IV going in hurt like a MOFO. I can't stand needles at all, or any kind of pain. I'm a 32 year old male that screams when I see a tiny sp…

  14. Having the sleeve has given me the ability to finally lose this weight and get healthy. I don't feel cumbersome anymore....I see my old self emerging again. I can squeeze through much smaller areas....I used to be afraid to sit in a booth at restaurants!!! I can fit in all ALL the clothing lines I sell in my boutique. My blood pressure is perfect and my husband says I no longer snore. I am lucky enough to not have side effects other than done hair loss which so far isn't noticeable due to thick hair.....taking biotin to combat that. I am thrilled I finally did this and recommend it to anyone on the fence!

Hello Fellow Bandsters! I made it through surgery yesterday and I'm just glad I can move on to the next phase. Yesterday was pure misery for me because of the nausea and constant pain. I'm walking a little bit more which is helping the gas move all around. I'm so thankful my husband is jumping at my every move and being very supportive. I'm documenting everything on Instagram so follow me at losingdiva.

So, I started my journey for wls over four years ago. My journey started with my mom's diagnosis of end-stage renal failure due to diabetic complications. At that moment, I knew I had to lose this weight. The day my mom got her kidney disease diagnosis, I went to my doctor and requested wls. She told me no and that I could just exercise it off. Well, one year later and 20 pounds heavier, I tried again. Still no luck. My mom lost her battle in 2009, and my life went into a tailspin. I grabbed a hold of the reigns in 2010 and decided it was time to take charge of my weight issue. I had been researching wls the entire time, so, I gathered all of my research and head…

When I got the good news I didn't have anyone to call. My husband just kinda snapped and said how much more do u want to talk abt it! I was shocked! Hope this don't become a bumpy ride . Well, I was sleeved this morning at 8am. I woke up in some pain and it took a while to fully wake up. Over all it's been way better than I expected. So far the hardest thing has been the internal gas left from the laparoscopy, gas-x doesn't help, and the cotton mouth. My incisions don't hurt. I've been able to walk 10 laps of the floor in 2-4 lap increments. I'm so excited about the future! Can't wait for Clear liquids tomorrow. Beautiful clear Water sounds wonderful. I'm thankful that it's gone well.

I guess I'll start at the beginning. I have been overweight my entire life. I remember being in the second grade and wondering why all of the other little girls around me where dressed in cute clothes from LimitedToo while I was ordering plus sized outfits from the Sears catalog. Throughout my life weight has always been a big issue for me. I've dealt with feelings of depression, worthlessness, and self-hatred for as long as I can remember. I went on my first diet in the 7th grade, and have been trying since then to lose weight. I have had a few (slight) successes but never anything more than 20lbs here or there. My mother has always been a huge influence in terms of the…

Had the sleeve done at Summa in Akron, Ohio on Tuesday. On Clear liquids now, one ounce every 15 minutes for the next six days. Gained back about 12 pounds from all the IV's and stopping the diuretics. Frustrating, but will be OK in the long run, I'm sure. Starting today at 269 lbs. Target is 165 lbs. Was 284 when I started my preop dieting though, so I guess I'm still ahead of the game a bit, lol.

  40. I just had surgery on 5/20/13 after a six month process of researching what procedure would be best for me. The sleeve won, by a long shot. So now that surgery is over, I'm having some difficulty with some of the side effects and pain. Now, mind you, I have had four c-sections so I'm no stranger to pain. But it literally feels like I'm swallowing razor blades every time I drink anything. I've tried warm, cold, and room temp to see if anything helps, but to no avail. I'm assuming it's gas, so along with walking I am also taking Gas-X strips. Any other suggestions? I'm actually scared to start eating pureed foods next week, if it already hurts this bad with just liquids. …
