Surgery in less than 12 hrs!

Recommended Posts

I haven't slept all week! My surgery is less than 12 hours away and my stomach is in knots. I have no idea what to expect after I wake up from surgery but I know this is what I've been wanting for quite some time now. I am so anxious, what did you do to pass the time preop?

Ate all the stuff I enjoy because its going to be a long time before I can eat it again. J/K I did a lot of research on the procedure and before and after videos on YouTube also hearing everyone's experience here on this forum helped. Don't worry it's scary at first when you get to the hospital and they start putting the IV in. You'll wonder if you are doing the right thing. Before you know it you'll be out and when you wake up your tummy will be sore like you did a thousand crunches. For me I was grumpy because my stomach was crowling. Once you start pushing the button for the Morfin all you will want to do is sleep. My best advice is to try to stay in the hospital as long as you can to rest up and get past the first few days of liquid diet.< /p>

Interesting I know my insurance company has already approved 2 days since I'm having a hernia repair also. I work at the facility where I'm having my procedure so that makes me even more anxious. I should be scrubbing with my antibacterial wash for bed but I'm wide awake. I haven't slept in 36 hours. Anxiety is real!

Maybe now might be time for a nice bath or a couple of Xanax (I'm kidding!). I'm sure I'm going to be in the same boat you are in. I'm still pre-op but I can't think of a single thing that you could do that would pass the time. I can't cross stitch when I'm nervous or any other crafts. Watching TV would just make it worse. You could obsessively watch videos of cute cats online. That always wastes time for me at work. How about researching a new place that you would like to vacation or some new clothes that you might be able to wear?

You are going to be fine! Don't let the anxiety get the better of you. Nice deep breaths, in through your nose, out through your mouth. You'll be just fine!

It's funny you should say Xanax cause I popped them and I just used my night time scrub provided by the hospital and I'm in bed watching tv waiting on them to kick in. I recorded a new series called North America on the discovery Channel and I'm beginning to mellow out.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
