  2. I am only 3 months post op and NEVER had acid reflux prior to my sleeve. It seems that I got it immediately following surgery before I could even have food. My issues are pain and burning in my chest. Also, have very bitter taste in my mouth. I was placed on the highest dose of Dexilant and that does nothing for me - almost like I'm not taking anything. My surgeon did place me on Reglan however my primary dr highly recommend that I not take that drug so I am back to only the Dexilant. My other issue is that when I try to eat, I can't even get past the pain in my chest to attempt to get or fill full so I'm not able to eat much at all.. Anyone else have that issue? My reflux has been so painful over the weekend I plan on calling my Dr first thing in the morning.

  4. I have only been drinking water and crystal light, then Popsicles. That with protein shakes.
  5. I am 9 days post op and a few days ago I started having VERY, VERY loose stools and gurgle tummy- now to the point that every time I have my liquids that I'm back in the bathroom. It's so bad that I'm sore - I know maybe tmi here but is this normal because my foods are liquid or is this diarrhea and maybe I should take something? I feel I'm in the bathroom all the time.
  6. I had acrylic nails on at my surgery and my toes painted and all went well for me. I will say I was never told or heard this was an issue. Hope that helps some..
  7. I am 3 days post, sleeved on Friday, 24th and I'm on clear liquids. In my handout from my Dr it had protein shakes on allowed liquids however my family keeps telling me its not right and I'm only suppose to be on clear liquids. I'm very very sore, can't get comfortable and feel hungry. Is this normal? I thought the feeling of hunger would go away. I have only been having Popsicles, ice chips, water and crystal light. My though is that protein shakes may make me feel full or atleast like I had substance.

  9. Maybe this depends on your insurance? I was approved for surgery and acutally changed my mind on the hospital a week before surgery and the scheduler at my surgeons office just told me that they had to call the insurance and make sure that the hospital was covered under my plan and that was it, I had no issues of being denied or having my approval taken from me. I would suggest to call your insurance yourself and ask. The only reason I have heard a hospital is not covered is when they are not Bariatric Certified. Best of Luck to you!!
  10. Dr Colleen Kennedy is my Dr... I've gone to Baylor for all my pre op tests and the staff has always been very nice and seems to go above and beyond so I hope that continues. I'm also very nervous... I will be praying for us both.
  11. I'm set to have my sleeve on Friday @Baylor of Plano and wondering if there is anyone out there who had their surgery there? If so, how was your experience?

  13. Hang in there, I was denied 2x and it didn't really take that long to appeal.. the girl doing the paperwork in my surgeons office was helpful but I think was missing something - it took the nurse in my surgeons office to set up a conference with my insurance to go over all my medical records to only discover it was a miscommunication somewhere .... I so know how you feel but don't let it get you down - just stay on top of everything and everyone to make sure they do their part.
  14. @ artymama - your post made me smile, that is EXACTLY the words my mom said to me. Thank you all so much for your encouragement !!

  16. Thank you ALL so much. My day has been frustrating. I got to hospital and they had complications with scheduling (not sure how) and then my insurance just recently converted to a Cobra plan so they thought my insurance had changed so since the hospital took HOURS trying to get their mess figured out I could NOT get my surgery today. I was so upset and frustrated and mad and Grrrrrr! My surgeon came out personally to speak with me and my family and apologized and said she will do my surgery Thurs or Friday. Now I'm way more nervous than I was before....

  20. Me too ... I'm getting sleeved today also.. My prayers to all of us today!!
  21. Hi, I'm so glad I found this blog for sleevers, I don't have a big support group and this looks like a great place to be ... I live in Texas (dfw) and getting sleeved today ... I'm so excited and yet very nervous. It's taken me some time to consider if this would be a good option for me because I have chronic neuro pain disease called RSD (Reflux Sympathetic Dystrophy) that I got from a foot surgery so just the idea of going thru another surgery is very scary to me but since my disease I've gained over 100 pounds and since my mobility is not what it use to be I really feel this is my best option.. Thanks for reading my post and looking forward to joining this great group..
