Good morning all. I’m 2 days out from sleeve. Having quite a bit of pain and also feeling shaky. Discharged from hospital yesterday afternoon but had to go to ER last night for fluid and IV toradole. Today I will sip and walk but wanted to hear advice re which pain med to use if necessary? I have Tylenol and oxycodone. (Taking colase too to prevent constipation). Thanks in advance for your help!

So, I am 8 1/2 months out revision from sleeve to bypass. I have been doing great up until the last month and my hunger and cravings has returned with a vengeance. I am hungry ALL the time! I am drinking a lot to try and push it back but my head hunger and physical hunger can be out of control. I have gotten down to almost the same exact spot that i got to at my lowest with the sleeve (and wasn't able to lost anymore) and now and i have gained and lost the same 4 lbs over and over for 2 months. Thoughts? Advice?

I would like to here from some members that may have had weight gain a year out from surgery. I know it’s from my eating habits and poor exercise regime. I have started back this week to exercise and I need to work on improving my eating habits. I started at 250, my lowest was 172, and right now I’m 186. My ultimate goal was to get to 150. I feel like such a failure, one of my biggest fears of having the surgery was failing and I feel that has happened. I looking for encouragement, guidance and I’m hoping that being honest and up front in a large group will help with accountability. Thank you for your support in advance. MKT

So, I'm 9 weeks out from Gastric Bypass, and I've lost nearly 50 lbs. I can already tell I'm in better shape as I'm able to walk around longer without losing my breath, able to fit in things that were tight on me before, and well, my shirts and work pants are loose. But I've noticed something else. Sitting in my chair at work starts hurting after a while as it feels like the hard surface is digging into my butt. Also, my back will randomly start aching even though it's carrying less around. My mother, who has also had bypass, said that it's likely the body adjusting to the lower weight and the pain shall pass, but still, it's... odd. You'd think the…

I did fantastic on full liquids, had sleeve May 1st. Advanced to soft foods last Friday, measured 1/2 c food. Developed severe pain center several inches above belly button and under right rib. Tender to the touch, very painful to move. No pain while eating or drinking. Went to dr Tuesday he thought it was muscular. Yesterday only drank fair life or cab master milk- only minor pain all day (still had some pain with movement). Today ate 1/4 cup low fat cottage cheese (took lactaid with it because I think I may be developing lactose intolerance). Ate slow, no pain while eating but when I stood up I had that severe sharp pain again in same place and it was super painful to t…

So I am about 5 weeks out from the sleeve. I have not had any complications and have actually felt great since the surgery. The only thing I have noticed is in about the last week I seem to have more nauseous feeling and lack of appetite. More so than lack of appetite is issues with drinking. For some reason whenever I drink water it makes me feel nauseous so I’ve tried Crystal light and that seems to sweet and makes me nauseous food does not seem to bother me much just the drinks. Has anyone else have this problem? And what do you do to help it

I don't know if this has anything to do with me going back to work but I keep getting these feelings of my stomach tensing up and hurting, like it is being squeezed and then released. It's quite uncomfortable. Has anyone else dealt with this or have any recommendations on how to deal? Any advice would be appreciated.

Hi there, I bought a big supply of BariMelts and don’t love them. I know a lot of other people do, so if you would like these I’ll sell them to you below retail value. I already sold the calcium to someone — they paid me over Venmo and I shipped them the pills. All remaining vitamins are unopened. Here’s what I have: 1 bottle of Biotin (retails for $14.99.) 5 bottles or iron + vitamin C (retails for $19.99.) 1 bottle of b12 plus (retails for $19.99.) 1 bottle of B1 (retails for $14.99.) 5 bottles of multivitamin (retails for $22.99.) Message me if interested and we can work out the logistics. Thanks!

Hello all! I'm new here! I had VSG 04/18/18 and have lost approximately 90lbs. Down to 245 from 335. While this is great, my goal is to get down under 200 by 18 months post op. I struggle with how many carbs to eat, calorie intake. I track everything on Baritastic, but I'm not sure my numbers are right as I haven't truly lost much at all the past few months. My nutritionist that was at my surgeons office left, and they do not plan to hire another one- she was my biggest ally in all of this journey. My surgeon sent me to a weight loss center, but they told me huge numbers and I did it for 4 weeks and it did not cause a loss. Any ideas on what I could try tha…

I am 10 days into my sleeve and this morning I have noticed my stomach starting to rumble which stopped after I finished my protein shake. Whats weird is how my brain is processing it and the best way to describe it is confused. I am eager to move to full liquid to see what my sleeve will handle with semi solids like yogurt. Is this normal at all? I have not deviated from the clear liquid at all yet. I havent felt that tingling or full sensation since day two when I first began to sip liquids. I can handle 8oz of liquid so far no problem but havent attempted to go beyond that. I have my first follow up on Thursday.

So, one of the most annoying things about being a WLS patient is the 30 minute rule for fluids. No drinking anything 30 minutes before eating nor 30 minutes after finishing eating. Most of the time, I have a timer to help me keep track of this. I was just wondering if anyone knew the issue if you forget the timer and forget what time you finished eating.

Hi guys, so I’m exactly 1 month post op today and my start weight was 125Kg and I went down to 115.9Kg but this was in the first two weeks maybe even week. Since then I haven’t lost anything which was stressing me out, but what is stressing me out even more is I decided to get on the scales today and it came up as 116.7 and I checked in different places just to be sure. I’ve literally not added anything major into my diet I haven’t gone astray. So I’m still on protein shakes and I’ve only just this Tuesday started soft foods so literally yesterday prior to that I was having lentil soup as a meal 200grams of it for dinner and two protein shakes and water . I haven’t ev…

Hi everyone...prior to my wls my Dr warned me that I will have hair loss during the first six months after surgery. Well...I didn't think it would be as bad as it's been. [emoji15][emoji24] I had my wls in January and March was the 1st time I began seeing major hair loss...to this date it's still pretty bad! I take my regular daily vitamins but in addition to save my hair... I have been taking collagen, flax seed, and extra protein in my morning shakes...plus I take hair & nails vitamins. Nothing seems to be helping...at least from the looks of it. My question is...have any of you had this issue? What have you done to help the hair loss? Any suggestions on shampoo a…

I had RNY a week and 2 days ago. I’m so thirsty ALL THE TIME. I know I’m not dehydrated because I hardly ever stop drinking. I’m not currently taking any vitamins. Could I be deficient? My dr. never mentioned anything about vitamins after surgery.

I am about 3 weeks post op and on the purée phase for the next three weeks. I am at a loss as to what to eat, as everything I have tried tastes horrible except for yogurt and broth. It also doesn’t help that I cannot keep down my chewable vitamins and the protein shakes are making me feel nauseous all the time. Any ideas of other things to eat?

I would highly recommend getting a Fitbit if you don’t already have one post surgery. It’s the best way to track your calories, water intake, activity-everything! I was on a four day stall and went and bought one. After 1 day using it I broke my stall because I was tracking my water better and hitting my steps goal. You can also track your calories which helps tremendously so that you can almost predict what you will lose the next day! Absolutely necessary in my opinion. I bought the new inspire HR it was about 100 bucks. Well worth the investment!

I used to drink nothing but plain water all the time prior to surgery or even thinking about surgery. I was pretty good about it and most days got up to about a gallon a day. Since the surgery I'm doing nothing but water with flavor packets and one cup of decaf every day. I'm not sure if this is a side effect of my surgery about 7 weeks ago or the fact that I started using flavoring packets after surgery and haven't gone back and now I ruined it for myself. Any thoughts on this subject? TIA

I’m 7 days out from RNY and I had not had a BM yet. My nurse said to take a dose of milk of magnesia which I did around 1 pm. At 3pm I had a BM but it was diarrhea. I’ve had diarrhea ever since and it’s almost midnight. I haven’t taken in any protein since 3 as I felt ill and was more concerned about staying hydrated. Also my stool is dark brown and all liquid. I don’t know what to do.

So tomorrow I am 5 weeks post op and I'm in the soft mechanical phase and I don't know but it was weird that today before lunch I felt hunger for the first time since surgery and even after eating I still feel hunger (been going through a stressful time the past couple of days so I don't know if it's the anxiety?) I had my protein shake in the morning and I am supposed to eat every 3-4 hours and I waited 4 hours which about 20 minutes before my 4 hours was up I started to feel the hunger pangs. Is this normal at this early stage? Also I can fit about 2-3 oz or 1/4-1/3 cup of soft foods in my pouch at a time (depending on what it is)....and I'm beginning to feel like tha…

I'm almost 6 weeks post op. Ive had my period twice (lasting longer than 3 days) and had break-through bleeding twice (super heavy but only lasts a short time, a few hours maybe). I'm on the patch, have been since 2 weeks post-op. What is up with my uterus? I've been on birth control before and was always super regular. Is it all the estrogen my fat cells are dumping or something? Has anyone else had this issue?

I had my gastric sleeve on May 6. I am post op day 3/4 and i have yet to poop or fart. They told me if i didn’t have either that i would have to go back in the hospital. I’m attempting Miralax tonight in hopes i do go but since my surgery i have not kept the appropriate fluids down. I feel so full after one drop. Is this normal? I’m feeling a little pain in one incision which I’m assuming is the incision my stomach came out of and a little left shoulder pain. Any insight would be helpful please!

Ok guys... maybe you can help me with some insight if what I am feeling and experiencing is normal. I had my surgery 8 days ago and I’m now on the purées/soft food stage as my surgeon requested. I’ve been keeping track of everything I put in my mouth on the Baritastic app and every night I end up with a total of 800/900 calories consumed. I was told that I shouldn’t even be able to get close to this amount for several months...let alone 8 days out. Everything I’m eating is sugar free or fat free. I’m drinking 2 protein shakes a day...a Greek yogurt or ff cottage cheese, about 1/2 cup of cream of Chicken soup and I have been able to eat a very small amount of the ricotta b…

I am on day 10 post op and I am not losing any weight at all. I don't get it! I was sleeved Friday April 26th. The following Tuesday April 30th I was 7 pounds down from the day of surgery. I have weighed the SAME EXACT THING since then! I am following the diet to a T, sometimes not even hitting my calorie goal, averaging a little less than 500 calories per day 60 grams of protein, and the scale isn't budging. What gives? How can someone eat so little and not lose even .1 of a pound? Tomorrow it will be one week of zero weight loss. I'm beyond discouraged right now. Anyone else experience anything similar? Do I just need to give it time? I could cry! :(

So we all knew about dumping syndrome hopefully... what’s something you weren’t aware of? Personally I developed tachycardia and a fluttering/dizziness of my heart. I hope that this is temporary but I wore a heart monitor last weekend. I hope to have results soon. I am also wondering g has anyone else noticed this symptom or others like it? Any suggestions?

Where to start ... Three days ago I had surgery. Prior arrangements were made for my mom to be my caregiver. I was hesitant because she didn’t have time for me then so how could she ever make time to care for me now I’m my time of need ? But she said she would so I let it go. She went to the meetings and appointments - now fast forward to the day of surgery and every day after she is a goner! From the time she saw I was able to walk regularly during my first hospital walk - she has thrown me to the wolves. Since discharge I have been on my own and the sad part is we live in the same house. She doesn’t help me walk , prep for liquids , assist with lifting or bending …

Hello, I'm 21 years of age. I've had my surgery done 2nd of May this year, so I'm 1 week in today. I've noticed that I'm able to drink quite a lot, I'm not sure if that's normal? Currently, I'm able to drink a bowl (Roughly 300ml) of broth without feeling sick or anything, I might be able to drink more, but haven't really pushed myself yet. I don't feel hungry, nor do I feel full after drinking it. I'm worried that the surgeon didn't cut my stomach small enough. TL;DR Should I feel full when drinking liquid? Another thing as well, whenever I sip/drink something, I burp, is that fine? Thank you for your time.

I was thinking I could bring a pump or hand express while I'm away just to keep up my milk production. Was anyone else successful?

Today marks one week since my gastric bypass. It has been a rough start, but I’m feeling and getting better everyday. I make sure I’m walking at least 30 minutes every day. I am still struggling with hunger. But I assume —it is my hope— that the hunger goes away. I have 12 days until my first follow-up appointment. At that point, I hope the doctor will move me to the next level. I’ve dropped 10 pounds since surgery day. It’s a struggle, but I’m taking it one day at a time.
