I'm 3 weeks PO and have been having so much gas and bloating. I am also STRUGGLING to get my protien in, I'm getting 30-50g of the 60 that's recommended. This worries me! I feel good. I have decent energy and very little pain from the largest incision. Did anyone else experience this kind of gas/ bloating?

In 2 days, I am 8 months out from RNY. In the last few days my bellybutton has started peeling. It is not sun burn. Now today it’s all red and burns. What is this ? I posted 2 pics below. P.S. I am a clean person and shower every day and don’t have any bellybutton piercings. I also haven’t had any surgery through my bellybutton. The RNY was performed with 6 laparoscopic incisions but none through the bellybutton. Help!!

Hi everyone. I'm a newbie settling into life with a sleeve. Things have been interesting, but I'm excited about what's to come. I decided to join to be accountable for myself going forward (that little ticker thing) and hopefully help people as I learn and live through my experience with the sleeve. I started my pre-op diet on 5/6 at 365.4, and had surgery on 5/28 at 341. Yesterday, 6/5 (30 days after starting the diet), I weighed in at 325.4. So yes, 40 pounds down in 30 days. I'm a male, but is that type of weight loss common for 30 days? I had surgery at approximately 9:30 AM, and was in my room by noon. I was incredibly nauseated and in a great deal of pain…

Okay, so this maybe be too graphic but I need help. I have spoken to my physician assistant, & was informed to take a stool softener daily until better. I am having problems having a bowel movement most of the time. I have had to resort to using two teaspoons of epsom salt and hot water with an 8oz glass of water. I mentioned this in support group and the dietician there made a face that seemed to imply she wished I hadn’t done that, but I don’t know why. I had to leave the group earlier so I didn’t get to ask why is hat bad. Is anyone else experiencing this problem. I had my surgery on 10/8/18, the sleeve. I’m open to suggestions. Before surgery I was a pretty regular pe…

Everything has been going well for me but yesterday morning I woke up with what at first felt like hunger pains for the first time. I had oatmeal and a protein shake and a couple hours later I was feeling better. By the afternoon I had developed a pain in my lower left back and my stomach nausea had returned. Having experienced this once before I realized it was kidney pain. When I woke up this morning the stomach nausea was gone but the kidney pain was still there. When I went to the bathroom the volume was very low which is the dead give away that it was a kidney stone. I was able to get in contact with my doctor and he confirmed it sounded like a kidney ston…

Good Evening, I am currently one month post-op I feel like my stomach is bloated and full, and my hunger has returned more powerful than before. I’m having trouble eating to many carb, I know I should not be eating rice and bread, but I have been cheating, I FEEL AWFUL!! (Mentally, not physically) I can’t have green veggies like salad, kale, asparagus for another two weeks and my body is craving a salad so bad. Doing a better job at getting in protein and my vitamins, currently off all medications that were prescribed after surgery. Working on increasing my physical activity Anyone else struggling with these issues??

I was sleeved 05/24. I have been suffering from severe pain at my largest incision where my excess stomach was removed. Like 10/10 pain with basically any movement. I saw my surgeon who states there is a dissolvable suture in that muscle and once it dissolves in about another week, the pain should improve. Has anyone else experienced this? He put me on a muscle relaxer and a very strong narcotic today. Feeling quite discouraged. Everything else post-op has been fine (drinking/eating/my other surgical sites). TIA.

Hey everyone. I'm 2 days post op and my heart rate keep dipping down in the 50's while I'm at rest. They did an EKG last night and it came back normal. My doctor hadn't made his rounds yet, so I'll ask him when I see him, but just wondered if this was something any of you all have dealt with.

Ugh. I saw this video of this girl on youtube. She was saying post-op how shes been breaking out with lots of acne. But all the youtubers were commenting underneath saying no thats not true bla bla bla. So I was not worried much about it. This past week I have been having breakouts all over my forhead and my chin and sides. And I am someone who has never ever suffered acne!!! Has anything similiar happened to you guys?

The absolute worst. I'm on level 3 food eating now, but I haven't had much luck getting all my proteins needed. So I quickly went for this shake because of the price. What a mistake! Diarrhea and nausea. I pinched my nose to keep it down. When I foolishly picked this up in a hurry, I didn't read the contents. Even after drinking the first one. Please stay away from this in my honest opinion. No good. [emoji90]

I’m 2 1/2 months out. 63 lbs down. I’m in a battle with finding different foods that won’t make me sick and that agrees with my new pouch. My boyfriend just does NOT understand my issues because he knows someone who was sleeved and he was able to eat anything and not be affected by it. I’m sooo different. Anyone been through this? Feeling alone at this point.

Hi all, looking to see if anyone has had a similar issue. I've been doing so well, and suddenly feeling stabbing pains on my right side that make me double over. Any idea what it might be or what I might do to treat it? I did call my surgeon who said it's likely musculoskeletal. Thanks in advance friends.

I have been soooo good with my broth and shakes, I am honestly just craving the ability to chew food, or a change in texture. Would it be the worse thing in the world to start my purée stage and vitamins a day early??

Ok...this took ALOT for me to do. Getting the courage to put alll of me on here like this. It’s been 5 wks since I was sleeved. I’ve been putting everything I have into this but there have been times I’ve wondered if this would really work. I’ve been trying to stay off the scale but that’s a challenge, I workout like crazy everyday and I count every calorie that goes in my mouth. I haven’t been able to really “see” the difference personally even though I knew my clothes fit better and I felt better physically, but after I did this collage today it truly made me see this IS working. I still have a long ways to go but I’ll take it after 5 weeks post op! All I have to say is…

I did do a search but didn't find anything specifically related so......... Just about to hit 10 months and I'm having serious hip issues. Since the weight loss they've been bothering me, kind of feel like they are on the verge of dislocating but not sure as it's a new feeling. It's happened in both hips but no more than an aching pain. This past Friday when I was waking up I noticed the familiar feeling again in my left hip. When I got out of bed it was really painful to put weight on it. I had to walk on my toes on that leg and limp to keep weight off of it. When I sat it was fine but standing or walking on it was really hard. I was outside doing some work and sat …

I got the sleeve December 28th. Successful pre-op week long liquid diet and day before clear liquids. 10.5 lb loss Successful surgery, anesthesia hit a bit hard and I didn’t end up fully waking up until middle of the night surgery night. Began walking, could hardly sip, all normal stuff. I could immediately pick myself up and didn’t require assistance in sitting up or walking around, was just extremely tired. Three days post op I began feeling what I assumed were the dreaded gas pains dead center of my abdomen. I called my doctors office, scoured the forums for advice, nothing helped. I tried the milk of magnesia assuming I was backed up, not the case. Tried gasx bc t…

I want to be beyond prepared before I go to the hospital. I’ve seen people say they needed gas-x or Miralax.. any advice on this stuff? Some things that might not seem so obvious but you wished you had or were so thankful that you had?

I have tried many different multivitamins with iron and just iron vitamins and they all cause me really bad stomach cramps and then I have to run to the bathroom . I am still borderline anemic and frustrated with what to do. The patches I tried the patched once but they caused a bad skin irriation. I eat foods high in iron and stiAcross the counter non bariatric vitamins with iron I can take but they don't have as much iron as bariatric ones. I have been told bariatric is better and absorbs better. Suggestions???

I’m 2 weeks and 2 days post op RNY. I am non stop starving. Like I literally feel like my stomach is eating itself. I follow my schedule to the T. I have never felt full since surgery. I have also only lost one pound in the past week. Doesn’t seem right. I’m frustrated and starting to wish I hadn’t done the surgery.

Hello folks. I'm new to this whole fitness tracker technology. I keep hearing about how good and how handy this devices are. I would love to know more about them if anybody has any experience to share and a vote on which is best? I want something to track all my steps, calories burned, heart rate, sleeping, any movements, possible to sync with mobile phone? I've heard some play music, some show text messages and notification? Some have alarms to wake up? Really looking into getting one to fit my big wrists and to keep myself motivated and track my daily life once I have the surgery! Tnx for all your input! I’m so interested in this! I think it’s so bizarre but pretty cool! I’ve read tons of articles about possibilities of this happening, but I decided to come to the source and hear what changes have actually happened! Let’s hear any changes you’ve experienced after surgery! I’ve heard a lot of extra sensitive to sweets.. has anyone started to like seafood that didn’t before?

Hi all I had a gastric bypass on the 1st of May and I am in the second week of the pureed food diet, I just thought I would ask a couple of questions to see if all is normal. I cannot really get use to pureeing everything so i have been having broths, cottage cheese, some pureed soups and jelly (Australian version of Jello) When eating at times i can really feel the food slowly going down and most times i get a slight stomach ache after eating for up to 30 minutes, I was getting a little worried as I am about to go onto the soft food diet from Friday and was thinking if pureed foods do this what will courser foods do. How long after surgery did you guys exp…

Hi, everyone I'm a newbie and I had my procedure on 17-05-2019 and yesterday it was my best friend's birthday and since she doesn't know I already had the procedure and for some reason I didn't tell her so she insisted to go for dinner in Mexican restaurant . she ordered taco as she know I love it so much and now the weird thing is that I ate half of it and then I felt like severe pain but the day has passed and she was so happy and the was the most important thing so I really so shy to ask my surgeon about the risks of this thing as he will be frustrated as he already warned me and he will never understand the relation between my friend and me so I'm asking here is ther…

Hi, I’m new to this forum and am 12 days post op gastric sleeve. I’m really struggling with the protein shakes and unable to keep them down. I am on anti nausea meds and it does seem to help for a short time, but then I’m right back to the nausea and just overall feeling uncomfortable. Right now my nutritionist and I are working on keeping me hydrated. Anyone else having trouble or ever had these issues? Suggestions would be great. Thanks!

Anyone else feel guilty eating mashed potatoes in the purée stage? Prior to surgery I was strict keto for 2 years and potatoes were like a deadly sin LOL Next weeks grocery run I think I'll be grabbing some mashed cauliflower...until then, the real thing won’t hurt since the quantity is so small, right? (like 2 tbsp)

Hi everyone. So I’m like 2 days post op. Surgery was on 5/16. I’m doing ok considering. I’m holding down liquids but the gas pain is incredible and I just don’t feel normal. I’m sore everywhere from the IV’s and shots but my main concern is how high my blood pressure is after surgery. I was discharged on 5/17 and I was told that it’s my body adjusting. Did anyone else experience this? Before surgery my pressure was 116/82 and while I do have a history of hypertension I’ve been controlling it for a while. I’m on spirnolactone for the hair growth but it treats the hypertension as well. Now that I’m crushing them I feel I may not be getting the whole thing but I’m concern.…

How much fiber is too much? I’m switching to the Atkins 30g + 7g of fiber shakes to help save on the amount of Benefiber I use. One serving of Benefiber only gives 3g and the suggested amount per day is 3 servings (9g). I don’t wanna get stopped up. Thoughts?

I had my gastric sleeve 5 days ago and I still haven’t felt a feeling of “fullness.” I swear I could eat a steak right now! My expectations must have been way off because I thought a few bites of jello would get me full to the point of nausea. My surgeon wants me to focus on hydration (64oz of water a day) and full liquids with protein as the second priority since dehydration is the biggest reason for readmission for sleeve patients. Did I miss something? Why am I not full! This is disheartening.

Hi all, I’m 2 days post op (sleeve) and it’s really hurting much more than I thought. I know it’s been asked and answered before but I’m so at the end of my rope, I don’t think I can even summon the energy to do a search. I have been able to drink and no temp, BP a little high (probably from anxiety and pain). I just need some reassurance that this is normal.... anyone else have pain for days? PS I’ve taken OxyContin and it just takes the edge off. Thanks in advance

I had my gastric sleeve surgery on 5/6 and had been doing great until 3 days ago. I started having a constant ache in my stomach with constant burping. I have tried tums hoping it was just indigestion, but that did not help. Everything I try to eat or drink tastes weird and I do not want to eat or drink anything because I also get more discomfort when I do. I have been able to force down enough water, but protein and any other pureed foods, jello, or broth has been a struggle. If anyone has experienced this and has some tips on how to get through it that would be greatly appreciated.

To deal with constipation I take a half dose of milk of magnesium every 1-2 days. I bought the sugar free non flavored one and got the cherry flavored. I used the cherry flavored one before but got some reason tonight OMG I thought I had a structure and needed to go to the ER. It started with a little nausea, stomach cramping then full on shakes, diarrhea and finally I threw up the Milk of mag and felt instantly better. Not 100% but better.
