  2. I had my surgery on October 7, 2018 I was 120 kg at the the time. It has been exactly 6 months and I have lost 23.5 kg, I weight 96.5 kg. But what I do not understand is that the last 2 months I have not lost anything and what is more troublesome I gained back 2 kg. I started gaining weight! And its only 6 months since operation, is this normal? I have not changed my diet, everything is the same. Yes I am getting my hungry back, intact it is back in full throttle, at night I am starving. But I am only 6 months post-op, is this normal? Why is this happening? Why am I gaining weight?? I was certain I was going to lose 35 kg, very very disappointed, confused, and dont unders…

Ok, the hiccups started yesterday. Tonight it is getting out of hand. I’m 8 days out from RNY. Does anyone have any suggestions for how I can avoid/deal with this?

This may sound like a silly question, but I have a doctors appointment on Thursday to get my birth control implant put in. They instructed me over the phone the other day that it’s going to be painful, so I need to take 600 mg of ibuprofen before my appointment. However, I just realized that I feel like I read somewhere that gastric bypass patients can’t take ibuprofen? Or am I wrong? I’ve always been an ibuprofen user when it comes to headaches and stuff, so can someone give me a run down of what I can/cannot take in terms of like ibuprofen, Tylenol, Advil and those kinds of things?

Have any of you ever been treated rudely at a restaurant when trying to order smaller portions?? We went to Red Robin and I tried to order off the kids menu and was told I wasn't allowed to because I'm over twelve, and then I tried to split a plate with my mom instead and the waitress was really rudely side-eyeing us like we were being rude for only ordering the one meal. She was slow and only brought fries for my mom -- which, fine, I don't really need fries, but the meal was a split??? And Red Robin has unlimited fries anyway??? And she made sure we knew the drinks were "at separate cost," like, yeah, we know. Whatever. I mean, nobody else has ever minded me orderi…

Having weighed myself today, I find myself curious about other people's progress in their first week. I lost 13 lbs since my day of surgery, of which 3 were lost in the hospital. Admittedly, I'm a tall man, so that may skew things.

  8. I don't think I'm leaking inside and I have followed the diet to a T since my surgery last Thursday. But the one big thing I'm worried about is leakage and infection. I just got a bit worried because most books and my doc said, leakage happens over time. I have just been able to drink more liquids. As though my stomach is actually healing. I'm still drinking sips. No gulps or big swallows. I'm just a little paranoid I guess. I'm going to call my doctor tomorrow and sees what he thinks. Thanks in advance for help or pointers or comments.

  9. I'm 3 days out from gastric bypass. I started my chewable multivitamin because surgeon said to as long as I wasn't nauseous. However, my calcium is the Bariatric Advantage chewy bites, and I'm afraid they'll get stuck at the bottom of my pouch where the opening to my intestines is. Should I wait until I'm on solid food to take my calcium? Thanks!!

  11. Just had gastric bypass on Wednesday so I'm 4 days out, and off all diabetes medication. I'm only on clear liquids and protein shakes, and they have very low sugar. How do I get my blood glucose up to at least 70?? If I eat too much sugar I'll have dumping syndrome. Any ideas?

So, I've been getting dizzy lately, like really dizzy. It's almost exclusively when I stand up. It takes me a few seconds for the room to stop spinning, then I can go on with what I got up to do. It's very frustrating and annoying though. I work at a hospital, and I had my coworker check my BP when sitting then right after standing and it didn't drop, which is what I thought was happening, so I don't know what the issue is. I was supposed to have my one year check up last week, but they had to reschedule due to the NP leaving, so now it's not until 4/17. I eat about 1200 calories a day. 80-100g of protein daily. Exercise 4 days a week for about 30 min. Drink 90-100oz of w…

I’m down 30lbs in 30 days! Just amazing. Clothes are all to big. Healing was tough I won’t lie I was in agony for a while. Eating is getting better but still struggling. Can’t eat anything more than 3 bites. Have to drink most of my protein. All I can say is hang in there it does get better and you’ll be so happy you did!

Any advice or well wishes. I am totally frustrated and I feel like I want to cry. Had surgery 2/28 and only down 27 lbs. What gives??? I've heard of the 3 week stall - but how long does that last? Is it you stall at 3 weeks or for 3 weeks you will stall? I've been the same weight now for almost 12 days. I don't want to feel like I did this in vain. I'm going into my 5th week post op. Nothing no budge no movement it's so heartbreaking to think this is it! Thanks any help or advice.

Hi Guys- I am about 2.6 yrs post vsg surgery. I had my baby 3/7/18...,.... 9 months ago. During the pregnancy I lost quite a bit of weight...which is typical for me...I lost about 25lbs with my earlier 2 pregnancies as well so this time around was no different, its just how my body reacts to being pregnant. I loose weight during the pregnancy and gain weight after. This time around the weight gain seems to be worse. At the beginning of my pregnancy I weighed in at 156. A month after I had baby, I was 143. I am now 173!!!! A little history. The day of my vsg surgery, I weighed in at 229. My lowest weight, 143 was right after I gave birth. Has anyone experie…

I had my surgery jan 22 2018, I am about to be 13 months out. (34year old, 5'7) What a journey. Started at 402lbs, a weight I now can't believe I had. it's crazy and unreal. My skin DOES reminds me that "hey you had that weight" but I am trying to have less floppy skin I wish I worked on it before but it's fine. And maybe tmi but also working on my breasts so they are less in a sad shape. I don't necessarily eat well and I probably eat less that I am supposed to but I am proud. 13 months ago i was at 323.4lbs, today I am at 187.8, sometimes i gained 1-4lbs, then i lose it back and lose some more. I only really had one plateau that lasted a month, i had some…

  18. So I've lost a lot of weight and have loose skin and my chest is not as full as it once was. I've lost volume at the top. I did some research on procedures and came across the "vampire breast lift". Looks like a cool alternative to a breast lift and/or implants for the short term. Just wondering if anyone has done it or knows anyone who has done it and your thoughts! Love and happiness in your weight loss journeys!

I was sleeved on 2/18. I lost 25lbs in the first 3 weeks and 5lbs the fourth week. Now I'm ending my 5th week and I haven't lost anything. I transitioned into more foods but nothing unhealthy and haven't lost anymore weight. Anyone else experienced this?! I'm getting nervous that I won't lose anymore.

My surgery was yesterday. I just got home, showered and am going to take a nap begire my evening snack. But I have a question: can I drink water along with my liquid meals? Like, my protein drink is considered a meal, so can I drink water with that? Also, when can I start having meals that are hot or cold rather than Luke warm? thanks for any help

Hello everyone, I'm just wondering if anyone has input on my situation or has gone through the same thing? I am 7 weeks out. I was sleeved under my Blueshield insurance (I technically have double coverage with Blueshield and UHC). I will be losing my Blueshield insurance at the end of April and I'm afraid if some kind of complication occurs after that my UHC insurance won't cover. Does anyone have any experience or knowledge of this? Thanks in advance!

This morning, I had one egg. Later, I had half of a premier protein drink, then a few hours later, I took half of an Atkins protein bar, and right after, I had horrible cramps, and then came dizziness and diarrhea... :-/ so I thought: dumping syndrome? But then I thought isn't the dumping syndrome when you have a lot of sugar? And the Atkins bar tastes very sweet but only has 1g of sugar :-/

Fishing for compliments. In normal life it's frowned upon as if proof of a character defect, however I think our population could use the confidence boost in a safe environment. Some days I need it more than protein... If you need it too, feel free to share your selfies or stories and feel the love pour in...

Hi all, I am almost a year on from my Gastric Sleeve (April 22 2018). Surgery went perfectly and very few immediate symptoms. I had a lot of trouble getting food down at first with hot flushes and nausea if I ate too much or too quick. It took a while to start seeing any weight loss. But it's a lot easier now. I've lost 40kg (about 90 pounds I think). With another 20kg to go for my ideal weight. About 6 months ago I started getting REALLY bad indigestion. I had never had indigestion before the surgery so it took me a while to figure out what was going on. It would keep me awake and I couldn't sit still for hours. But it would pass. Then a few months…

Hi, I am not feeling any restriction after 10 months (RNY 2018 - had sleeve 2014), this happened directly after I had the flu where I ate ice cream and I had soda. I usually eat 3 ounces per meal 2x a day and muscle milk for breakfast. After the flu 3 weeks ago I just don't feel any restriction whereas I could eat and feel satisfied, now I think I can just continue to eat more and have noticed I am now eating more than before if I don't measure. I don't have health insurance now so I can't see my Dr.

  36. So I'm just barely 2 weeks post op, so hopefully this is a temporary thing. As the day progresses, I feel like my system is continually filling without draining fast enough. Having just barely 2 oz of pureed food or 8 oz of fluid in one hour makes me feel pretty full and as the day progresses I can intake less and less fluid. When I spoke with the Dr about this he said that it may be normal part of the healing process or SOMETIMES the new connection from stomach to intestines may not be large enough. They will take an x-ray at 6 weeks if I'm still having the issue and it may require surgery. I've never heard of this and wondering if anyone has had this done?

  37. I had lost 55 pounds but have found that i have gained 10 pounds. I have been eating more lately and when i go to the grocery store i find that i buy foods that i would buy before my surgery.

I’m freshly home from the hospital after gastric bypass revision surgery (after a failed lap band). I feel pretty bad still though. Wondered if others had similar issues after: Diarrhea Nausea Impossible to sleep in a comfy position Groggy and in/out Trouble getting in the 4oz per hour Would love to hear your stories. Also, what did you take for nausea? I have the omeprazole for the acid and am taking Tylenol for pain. But the nausea is pretty bad, as in the diarrhea.

I just wanted to share my surgery experience as it seems very, very different than most I have seen and I don't want others to feel alone! My hospital experience was scary, but since then it has been great! So there is hope! The Scary Part On 2/25 I had my gastric bypass/RNY surgery. The plan was that I would stay one night and be discharged in the morning. I had the surgery, woke up feeling okay, and fairly quickly I got out of bed and took a short walk. I went back to rest and about four hours later told my mom I was feeling "weird." Within a few minutes, my eyes rolled back and I passed out in my hospital bed. I don't remember a lot after that, but here…

For some reason they just feel too heavy for me to tolerate and I just feel super queasy after. Does anyone else have this experience with these particular shakes? Anything that helps?? I saw they make a juice version of the premier protein which is a little less protein but I’m thinking it might be worth a try.

My first post appointment after lapband (about a week after surgery) I was 193. My first fill-in is on 3/25 and I currently weigh 187. For those who've had the lapband done, does my weight loss seem okay so far? Also, any tips you can give after receiving my first fill in? As of now, I've been feeling good.
