I’m about 10 days post op revision VSG to RNY and everything that hits my stomach burns or makes me cramp. I have pain that radiates up into my left shoulder (not gas or a leak- I had an upper GI this past week) Not long after I have major diarrhea. My surgeon put me on carafate + the protonix I was already taking. He said my stomach was super inflamed. Do you think that sounds like symptoms of an ulcer and how long after treatment did it take for you all to feel normal???? Also, what foods/liquids were you able to take in? I need some reassurance here.

I’m just about 2 weeks out of surgery now, and the only foods I’m allowed right now are essentially baby foods. I can have very soft scrambled eggs, refried beans, and apple sauce, but I’m craving normal foods. Big time. At the top of the list today, I’m craving a giant bowl of salad with ranch. Yesterday all I was craving was sushi. I feel like I’m going insane. I’m super happy with this gastric sleeve and have already lost 20 lbs since day of surgery, but I’m already having such a hard time not being able to eat the foods I want. Have you gone through this? How did you make this better? Please help a girl out!

BUT. ...... is anyone suffering from unbelieveable tiredness and I actually have almost no energy unless I sit down and rest between activities. I had to sit down to brush my teeth the other day. lol. I tru…

Well, I'm done and 3 days out. Pop cycles seem to be the only thing I can do. I'm not hungry after taking the meds I've been given. For those of you that may think you're too old, I'll be 73 next month and wanted my life back. The last 5 years when my band failed I really started to gain weight. I'm looking forward to being able to jump off the boat and get up the ladder again. Kayaking too. Just need to get through this recovery period, I'm not a patient woman. I realize it is only for the next four weeks of the rest of my life.

Hello Everyone! So I am currently 2 Months and a Half Post-Op from my Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy (5/13/19). So far, I have had a great recovery and have had no problems getting food down. Today though, I threw up for the first time in this whole entire journey. I ate a Dill Pickle wrapped in Ham and Cheese. Is it normal for my first vomit experience to have come this late into my journey? Could it have been the acid in the vinegar from the pickle? What do you all think?

So let me give you a run down of my last two weeks........ I’m definitely not looking for sympathy, I just want to know if any of you have been through this so I’m not going through it alone. I had my revision from VSG to RNY on 7/22 - Day 1 was rough but after that everything was a breeze. I had tapered myself off pain meds and felt great. Sunday morning (6 days post op) I felt pretty dizzy and light headed which I linked to dehydration so I stepped up my liquids. This lasted on and off all day. Come Monday morning and I’m starting to have some left side stomach pain and linked shoulder pain. I’m not gonna lie, the shoulder pain hurt worse than anything imaginable an…

I had my RnY surgery about a week ago from today, last night I was laying in bed and I was woken up by a random dry cough, now what worries me is being half asleep I didn’t support my tummy like I usually do and the pain was intense it was different it was like doing sit ups and stretching your body so you feel as if you pulled or strained a muscle but in this case my intestine. I don’t have pain on a regular and it only feels uncomfortable when I stretch or bend forward, the cough was pretty intense, like a shift in my body. I just wanted to know if any else has experienced this? Before I go crazy overthinking this more than I already have

I had my sleeve on 7/11. I saw my doctor a week ago for my two week post up. At that point I had only lost 12 pound and also caught a head cold. She said my body was fighting what it’s supposed to do and being I was sick she kept me on clear liquids for another week and a half. Two weeks post op I had lost 12lbs. I don’t start full liquids until this Friday. I’m feeling much better now as far as the cold goes and I’m sticking to my clear liquid diet - basically my diet consists of 2 premier protein shakes and then about 50oz of water, 32oz of Gatorade zero, and a sugar free ice pop and 1/2 cup sugar free jello. A week later and I’ve only lost 4lbs for a total of 16…

I have a problem drinking enough water. I was introduced to this product and love , love it! It comes in alot of flavors online. Ive tryed lemon lime and passion fruit. Costco by me now sells it. Its like drinking 2 - 3 bottles of water with just drinking one. I like the taste and drink one everyday unless im out sweating up a storm in 100 degree weather then may have 2 but it deffently helps with dehydration so u get all the fluid your body needs. This may be over sharing but my pee was dark like orangeish brown for a few days i kept saying to my husband im lretty sure my body is dehydrated. I was hardly drinking anything id only go to the bathroom once a day and i got t…

I’m 5+ months RNY. I’m past my goal at 140lbs. The past 2 weeks intermittently I will get a quick twinge. Not pain just a twinge usually near the incision sites. Maybe 3-4 of the sites randomly. My guess is maybe the nerves that were cut are growing back or that since I’ve lost a lot that the fat padding the sites isn’t as thick so the skin etc is more tender. Anyone relate to this?

So I was just wondering why the insurance company called me a few times to ask me the same question a few time today "Do you have any additional insurance?' My answer was no just an employer-provided health insurance policy. So I decided to look at the pending medical claims for my surgery..... nearly 350K!!! I am simply in shock. Has anyone else looked at the cost of their surgery prior to insurance coverage?

Hello, I had my surgery 7-15-2019. I am starting to eat purée foods. I seem to not be really hungry, but I have been able to get almost 1000 calories down each day. Is that to many calories? I don’t want to harm my stomach, and I don’t want to stretch it out either. I am tolerating all of it...in fact it almost seems to easy to eat.

So I went back to work one-week post-op. I had my first business lunch today and ordered Brazino and was able to eat 1/2 of the filet (3 ounces) and just asked for the rest to go. I was so stuffed and felt I was actively engaging in conversation, and I looked around me, and the others had cleared their entire plates or fish, spinach, and veggies.!!!! I was super proud of myself. I had green tea before the start of the meal and didn't drink the rest of the meeting. This was such a massive concern for me as I have so many eating situations. One meal at a time

I have had an incredibly smooth process so far with very little complications. This week I began to notice a sudden drop in apetite. Has anyone else had these fluctuations? My hunger post surgery has been low but this week its non existant. On the plus side I am losing more weight but I would like to feel normal again. I guess we all have good and bad days.

Hello Everyone! I wanted to seek out some advice from you all, as I am worrying about my weight stall/gain. I am currently 10 Weeks Post-Op (2 Months) and I have been exercising (Swimming and Running) everyday for at least 2 hours since I was 3 Weeks Post-Op. I am very responsible with my diet and I carefully watch my portions. 3 days ago I was 251.0 lbs and now I’m back to being 253.8 lbs. Why am I at this weight stall/gain? Am I doing something wrong? I personally feel a lot stronger and I have noticed muscle gain in my arms and legs, but could muscle really make me stall that much? I also had a lot of nerve pain near my biceps last night, could that be due to muscl…

My mom was sleeved 2 years ago in September. I was sleeved this year May 21. My mom has always been an incredible cook and baker. We come from a long line of Sicilian women who love to cook and eat. This surgery has for sure changed her life and how she cooks and bakes and I've only just started figuring all of this stuff out. Tell me why, though, she will not only bring the not-so-bariatric-friendly food she makes to my house but on top of that bake me a whole loaf of banana bread? ??? She knows it's my favorite so that's nice of her but a whole loaf? I have a 13 year old who is obese and I've changed her diet as well. My mom knows all of these things. She said, "You c…

Hello all I’m two weeks sleeve post op today. Two days ago I started with a head cold. That day I had my surgical follow up and also saw my PCP for the head cold. Surgeon wants me in clear liquids for another 8 days and try to increase my protein from 60mg a day to 90mg a day. She said cause my body is fighting this illness and I’ve only lost 11lbs since surgery. My primary care doctor said I have a viral infection and it will pass. Here’s my dilemma. Everything is now making me nauseous. Today has been the worst day. I’ve only gotten one protein shake in so far cause the consistency bothers my sore throat. Broth makes me want to gag. Gatorade 0 is making me…

I’m in “month one” and just trying to get used to this all. But something I am noticing is that even after I eat - say an hour later - I’m hungry again. Yes, a small amount of food will immediately stop the issue - but why am I always hungry? I’m also starting to feel insecure about the process. I’ve lost 24lbs and no one can tell a difference (I went from 238 to 214). I know this will take a while, but if anyone can give me some pointers or just bring some positivity in my life, it would be most appreciated!!

I got sleeved on May 21. I'm a few days away from my 2 mth mark and I'm down 30 pounds. When I was cleared for a regular diet at the 6 week mark I gained 5 pounds but have since then lost it again. I've already hit a stall that lasted 2 weeks. I'm a really fast eater and it's been difficult to slow it down. My nutritionist said to separate my meals into halves and leave one half in the kitchen. After I finish the first half, time 10 minutes on the clock and go back for the other half if I'm still hungry. I messed up for a week and ate a few bad things plus eating quickly makes me feel gorged. I was afraid I was stretching my new stomach but I was reassured by my nutrition…

SW: 274.4 Surgery Day: 265 CW: 231.2 GW: 159 Surgery Date: May 23, 2019 I am almost 9 weeks post op, and it was the most challenging times in my life. Never think this is a quick fix! I have lost 43.2 lbs, over 15% of my body weight. I feel so much better, but eating is still a daily struggle to change old habits. I finally notice the inches lost and the energy gained, but still have 72 lbs left to lose. Has anyone lost the excess weight and got to a BMI under 25? It seems so far away.

I’m 1 week post op sleeve. My doctor said I can only have 1 oz every 15 mins through my 2 week post op visit. At first that was ok but now I I feel like I’m starving. It’s not like a old hunger feeling it’s different and hard to explain... not sure if it’s physiological... How much were you allowed to drink during your full liquid stage? I’m one week out and down 20 lbs. Seems crazy to me...

Hello Everyone - I am one-week post-op today, and I am now only 2 pounds lighter than I was last week. That is ok with me, and I am so happy I had the "tune-up" surgery. I do need to wear an abdominal binder getting on and out of bed. I return to work this week and zero pain. I am hopeful and positive that the weight will continue to come off. During my Pre-Op Liquid diet, I shed 25 lbs, so I am feeling good about that. I have broken my weight goals into 35-pound goals. I am 27 pounds from target 1.
