Some may combat a degree of low blood sugar. I am having issues with my sugar dropping into the 30's and 40's. I find it very difficult to recover to a safe level. Any tips?

So I recently started throwing up what I thought was blood. It was far more sinister. It turned out to be my first bowel obstruction since RNY surgery. Now I am no stranger to bowel obstructions as I have had many of them in the past as a 24 yr Veteran Survivor of CD. This one was directly at the site of reanastomosis. Any body else having any issues?

I’m pre revision surgery to bypass. I have a question about post op. I’m kind of freaking out because I had some problems in the hospital with my sleeve getting my anti depressant meds. There was no extended release but finally they just let me open the capsule and take it. I’m wondering with bypass if I’m going to have more extreme and long term challenges because of absorption?!

Hello all, I have a lot to say/ ask so I hope someone out there is reading. For some background knowledge, pre surgery I weighed 225 pounds. In the last year and a half I maintained a weight of 152-157 I never reached above 160. I recently had a big move, new job, leaving my boyfriend, and a medical issue. I. H.a.v.e gained around 22 pounds in 2 months. I. H.a.v.e all of this self hate. I can’t look at myself because I pick myself apart, I notice a line in my neck and get nervous it’s a fat roll forming, I notice a double chin. I notice it all and it’s the most miserable I have ever been. I can’t fit in my clothes, I cry daily and try to avoid planning outings beca…

I didnt plan accordingly for my lunch at work yesterday. I generally weigh and measure everything and plan ahead from the day before. I had been craving meatballs and since I didn't pack anything I had a "side order" of meatballs in a dish, not big not small so I figured I would eat 1 to 1 1/2 and save the rest for today n tommorow. I made the mistake of being on the phone while eating and apparently ate too much. This is the first time I have felt "FULL" since surgery and I can tell you I did not like it. I felt grossly sick for about an hour afterwards. I felt as if I was going to vomit, although I didn't it was a close call and I think I may have felt better if I had b…

My surgery is scheduled for October 10th. My husband is set to deploy to Afghanistan on October 21st from Williamsburg VA and we lived in Pennsylvania. My daughter and I were supposed to go down to see him one last time and Flying isn’t an option, so I’m wondering if anyone made a long drive post op? It’s a 6 hour drive. If I wear compression socks, stop once every hour to get out of the car and walk and rotate my ankles and roll my feet as we drive, I’m hoping blood clots won’t be an issue. Again, I’m just wondering if anyone else traveled a far distance post op and if so, what was your experience.

I am 8 days post-op (sleeve) and I find that I can’t tolerate the protein supplement drinks I used before surgery. I have tried both the premiere protein shakes and muscle milk light (lactose free). As soon as I drink them, no matter how small the swallow, I get a bubbling, gurgling, churning stomach and nausea. I have tolerated everything else on the permitted diet (including lactose) with no problems post-surgery so I don’t understand this. I’m pursuing protein powder alternatives but just curious if anyone else has had this problem. I can’t make sense of it. Thanks!

So I’m one week post op. Just had my appointment yesterday and everything was looking good. Last night I developed a stabbing pain on my left side when I move. Thought maybe gas pain. Took some gas x went to bed. Well this morning I’m still in pain when I move or press on side. Not running fever. Think I just pulled something? Not likely to be a leak right?

Even though I'm pre-op, I found this study interesting and relevant to us all as we hope to keep lower levels of Ghrelin and increased energy metabolism. https://www.carerace.com/2019/09/carbohydrate-restricted-diet-after.html

I am hesistant to post this but its on my mind so I wanted to share. I somehow gained 6lbs between Sunday morning and Tuesday morning. Monday mornings are my usual weigh in but I missed it yesterday. As I have mentioned I do still struggle with making the right choices but I have not experienced any weight gain till this point but 6lbs was alarming. I blame the birthday cake but I had a slice not the whole cake. It was a bit of a wake up call just how quickly things can change but I will chalk this up to carb bloat.

Stats: Starting: 226.8 Surgery: 205.7 (I think... it was 205. something Today: 187.3 All wounds are fully healed. I noticed the last 2-1 days I haven't had ANY pain (including that weird sharp pain by the main incision site that would sometimes hurt if I did something stressful to it by accident). So far I haven't thrown up at all. This past week I started walking laps around my neighborhood lake (which is about a mile). I have done 2 laps every day, with 1 day adding a mile to walk home from the lake, and yesterday I did the 2 laps TWICE in the same day (early AM and at sunset). Starting to pick up my speed too. It takes me an average of 20 minutes whic…

I had RNY on Feb 5, 2019. My hair loss started mid May and ended about mid July. I already had thin, fine hair to begin with so the loss was very noticeable (to me at least). Now here I am in October, 80 pounds down, and my hair is growing back! The pictures are of my bangs because it’s so noticeable there, but I have inch long hair all over my head. It makes my cowlick more obvious so I’ve been wearing a lot of ponytails to try to control it. My hair looks pretty awful with the little hairs standing straight up all over, but I’m thrilled it’s growing!

I know there is a lot of people that have had this revision, can anyone let me know what to expect. I did the sleeve surgery with ease, I struggled after like every else does but it was worth it. Just wondering what foods will irritate me and how much I'll be able to eat because I heard they make the pouch even smaller, is this true?

Some of you know I was interested in the IF topic but since I'm only 8 weeks out, it is probably not time for me to try to introduce that. As I am a super slow loser and am very metabolically challenged..I tend to opt for a keto based way of eating. Keeping carbs under 20 grams, etc. Keeping fat isolated to much less than the average 'keto WOL' and staying with the healthier fats. I've been stalled at the same weight for 10 days and I have been exercising during this time. Haven't noticed any new change in the way things fit (looking for non-scale victories, etc.)..and before that it took 2 to 3 weeks to lose 2 lbs. Was aiming for 800 calories or less wi…

Hey y'all, so I tried searching on here for an answer but found nothing. I had surgery three weeks ago, and for the last three days I've had constant issues with excess saliva and mucus in my mouth. I've tried no dairy, alkaline water, and returning to liquids, but to no avail. One day I also had heartburn but it was from some tea I had. I don't really know what to do as even water causes me to foam up and have to spit into a cup! Today I'm trying to take a break from liquids (after getting 64 oz in) and haven't had solid food, just protein shakes. I am going to reach out to my doctor about this but I have no idea what is causing this. Any ideas?

Had my surgery on 9/9 and I was doing great just cruising having no nausea or throwing up. This weekend has been rough, I’m starting to introduce more foods and I have never felt so sick. Just feeling down about the whole thing and kinda defeated. I’m scared to eat anything now since I worried I’ll get sick. Anyone else have this?

Hello, I am 1.5 months outside of VSG and I'm wondering if it is common for people to have difficulty swallowing following surgery? This seems to come and go; no matter how much I chew my food, etc... it's like my throat has constricted and is trying to restrict the food I intake after surgery, even on the first bite - I don't have to be full at all for it to kick in. It is also accompanied by chest pains - I have to beat on my chest to get it to stop and dial it all back and wait until it subsides. More often than not though; once it's set off - it's hard to reign back in and I have to put the food away and try later. Is this a common 'thing', if …

Hi all Got sleeved last Thursday on the 19th of September. Im in a good amount of pain still. I’m wondering when you became pain free after surgery. It’s been 6 days and I’m still pretty much bed ridden. I do get up and walk often and I go up and down stairs a few times a day but im in pain. About one hour before my pain meds are due I know it. I can feel it. I’m on Percocet and tylenol. When did you stop feeling pain after surgery?

I’ve noticed the days following surgery, my heart date has been a little higher than normal. Its normally between 70-85 but now it’s like mid to high 90s... when I’m in heat, it’s over 100, not but much. Anyone have this happen? I have no idea if the blood thinner will make it high or not.

I sure wish I would heal enough for these "cold" cramps to go away. I really makes it hard to get my protein in and fluids. I have switched to warm temp liquids, but can't wait for the pain to leave. Hope everyone is having a good weekend!

For the men mostly after losing 100lbs like what kind of training or workouts or tips do you have to help to stop from getting bat wings and lower stomach skin? I'm very early days so I'm just curious what kind of a regime would you suggest? I mostly do cardio on my bike but I've been hearing more and more about using weights or machines to work on my arms and like rowing machines? I know there's no gauranteed way but there's gotta be tips to help tone your overall body as I go through my journey? Like I want to eventually have some tone maybe even muscle not end up like a stick but also don't want to be huge? I've still got 100lbs to lose and fee…

I had to stop my birth control before surgery and was able to restart it this past Sunday. This entire week I've been super nauseous and I finally put two and two together that that was the only thing that changed. I haven't taken it for a couple days and now I'm feeling fine. I'm not on it to prevent pregnancy but rather for menstrual problems. Has anyone had this issue and what did you do? IUDs are a no go because I have a heart shaped uterus. I'm considering retrying it again in a month or two.

Right now I do not have a band. I was banded in Korea, had band erosion and had my band removed. In 3 months I will be getting a new band. In one month I will be traveling to Canada and I plan at that time to try to find a doctor in Canada who will accept me as a patient for fills for future references. I was wondering if any Canadians or close to the border Americans can give me their doctors phone numbers so I can call and see if they would accept me as a patient. I am not sure what band I am getting next maybe ap-s or the midband so finding a doctor who will only accept me if I have one or the other band might affect my decision in what band to get. Any help wo…

I am now one week post op and pretty miserable still. My surgery was 9/16 and I was in the hospital until 9/20. The surgery had a complication of my gallbladder had started to disintegrate so they took that as well as my entire stomach. I was so inflamed I could hardly move. By Wednesday they had to send me down for several tests because I couldn't draw a deep breath and was actually gasping for air, my torso felt so tight. So I had a swallow test, a chest Xray and then finally a CT of my chest and abdomen. Then to get me out of bed more they threatened me with a broncos copy. I did eventually improve and was able to leave on the 20th weighing 15 pounds more than the day…

My depressions horrible. The surgery was more pain then I ever imagined and thanks to complications I was hospitalized for 4 days instead of two. I feel like I can’t drink enough to hit 80 grams of protein, My depressions a mess, and I have no support system. My family could care less about me. I regret this surgery due to all the pain I’m in and I feel like a failure. Anyone relate? ???

So, every day, through out the day since surgery, my face has became really warm and flushed. No fever. Not dehydrated (well my urine is normal colored) and i take all of my vitamins. I just “don’t feel good” like I feel absolute blah. I don’t know if this is normal or if it’s something else. Did anyone else experience this? I had my surgery on Monday, 9/9. Yes, I know I just had major surgery but I read other posts and people seem like they are going for a 2 mile jog. I’m a worry wart.

I am 4 months post op. I have had dry skin issues since about a week or two after surgery, which I felt was fairly normal. My water intake was dramatically reduced. Now I get at least 60oz a day and lotion with heavy cream at least once a day but do often times lotion up twice. I used Palmer's cocoa butter (I swear by it). But my stomach skin and hands are still dry. Any one have any thoughts or ideas on this?
