Hi there I'm just a little curious if people actually used chewables in the first weeks or months postop? My dietitian has mentioned it as a good idea to use for the first month at least? Also I've been told the most important vitamins to take are calcium citrate and vitamin D but also K2 may be good?? I know there are others like B12 but My surgeon said it can vary by person and on your post op blood work. Currently my vitamin levels are fine preop. Would like first hand knowledge plz???

I had a HUGE NSV this weekend, I rode roller coasters without having to get off due to my size and without be smooshed into the restraints. I have worked at this park for several years and have only been able to ride a couple of the big coasters due to my size so I finally got to enjoy them for the first time since high school! Also, a fun perk of having gastric bypass, I don't get that stomach dropping feeling going down the big drops like before surgery! My daughter and I were running from coaster to coaster trying to get on as many as possible, I had so much fun!

My surgeon Is very busy and like 2hrs away so I'm curious how or when did people remove their Patches over those inscisions?? I have 6 individual patches over the holes from surgery 9 days ago I shower everyday without any issues.. When should I remove them or should I go to a nurse or doctor to get it removed??? Or can I do it myself they just look like little holes I can't see any stitches just little holes underneath? They were changed in the hospital once already but I think they're meant to be removed soon? I can't get through to my surgeon he's very busy.. There's no coloring or blood or anything the patches look clean and fine.. T…

Hi All, So I had my gastric sleeve surgery October 28th. I'm back at work today, but I'm still walking in so much pain, by the large incision site and in my back. Note that (TMI ahead) I also got my period. When I walk, there is a nagging awful pain by my incision site. Did anyone else have this? I didn't really want to go back to work today, but I don't want to lose all of my vacation time (I used my own time, because I was told you'll only need a week and all that). Did anyone else take longer to heal than others? I expected to be up and running so much faster that I feel like a wuss. Please tell me I'm not the only one.

I'd like to have your opinion. I am about 4.5 months out from surgery. I have loss 92 pounds, or 32% of my excess body weight. Gastric sleeve promotes losing 60%. I know I can improve with my water intake. I also know I can improve with some of my food choices. But, overall 4.5 months out is 32% in range? I am on target on my 6 mos. anniversary to be down another 27 pounds, or a total of 120 pounds, about 40% of my overall excess body weight. Things going well: More active; energy; confidence; clothes sizes are changing rapidly; generally feel great Could be better: water intake; consistency with vitamins; not making poor food choices on occasion. T…

Hello, I had gastric sleeve when I was 18 years old and lost over 100lbs but gained all the weight back since. I am now 24 and had a re-sleeve done on October 17th (17 days ago). I have been exercising daily and following my surgeons guidelines very strictly, including my vitamins and hydration. I have only lost about 6lbs the last 17 days since surgery (256lb day if surgery, now fluctuating between 250 and 248). Everything I have read says people usually lose 5-15lbs their first month(which I did my first gastric sleeve) but I do not find much about re-sleeves. My nurse practitioner said it is normal not to lose weight the first month while you're healing because yo…

So after losing 130+ pounds, I’m always cold...but tonight I attended a football game, I was dressed appropriately for the 43° weather. I had on gloves and boots but my fingers and toes went completely numb. It took nearly an hour, once we left the game, for the feeling to fully return. How am I going to survive winter this year if I can’t even tolerate fall weather??? ?

Did anyone have a significantly elevated heart rate post-op? If so, when did it normalize, did they ever find out why? I had my revision surgery on Thursday, October 24, 2019. It ended up being more complicated than anticipated, my band was slipped (I told them!!) all the way around my esophagus with the top of my stomach incarcerated in the band and a significant amount of scar tissue. My revision was anticipated to take 2 hours and ended up taking over 4 hours. As soon as I went under anesthesia (before even cutting) my resting heart rate went into the 130s and stayed elevated. During my stay they had me on metoprolol to bring it down, which it did, but…

Had 6 month physical yesterday with my primary physician. Pre surgery I had high blood pressure, high liver enzymes, high A1C (Type 2 Diabetic), suffered regularly from Gout. All of these are now normal. My Test came back too high and my BUN/Creatine Ratio was too low. I was concerned that my test was too low! TESTOSTERONE, TOT.,S. This result is high 1303.0 ng/dL (249.0-836.0 ) BUN/Creat Ratio This result is low 9.5 Ratio (10.0-28.0 )

I’m 11 days post op, still on liquids, and have had pretty bad acid reflux the last two nights. I’m waking up with sore throat and burning in my esophagus - I started on Omeprazole a few weeks prior to surgery and am taking it every morning. Does anyone have any recommendations for preventing it while I sleep?

How much did or are you eating at 3 weeks post op VSG? Tomorrow will be my 3 weeks post op. I’m curious if I’m eating too much (I can eat up to 4oz). The pictures attached are all the guidelines I was given and even on the example meal plan seems way too much. I wasn’t given a calorie goal or anything. My mom was curious on how I was doing so she had me go on the scale Thursday and I had gained 1.6lbs. I know it’s not much but because I’m only on week 3. I make my protein goal of 50-60 grams a day but I’m always short from my 64oz of water by 20oz. I been back to work for 4 days now and I make it a priority to walk home from work since I live not even …

Okay...this might be one where the board goes, "Huh? Nope, you're the only one!" But I'm gonna test it anyway. About 2 weeks after surgery, when I lie down to go to sleep my legs start to get really anxious, like I need to get up and run. (If anyone has had Benadryl withdrawls, this is what it's like.) I have to constantly move them or it feels like I'm going crazy. My brain and eyes are tired, but my legs are WIDE awake. It lasts about an hour or two then stops and I can sleep. Along with it are randon nerve firings (little itchings)... on the bottom of my foot, then on my hip, then arm, then head, then side of foot, then a place on my b…

I was sleeved on April 29 and tomorrow will be 6 months. I am down 100lbs to a weight I have not seen in over 10 years. Its really been quite effortless so far but the last month things have slowed. I still make poor choices and I dont suspect that will ever change but quantity is tiny and I generally think I have retrained my brain as to how much food to eat for meals. Ive achieved these results with basically zero exercise. I am not proud of that and I do think in order to get to the goal weight I am going to have to be more active. For now the goal is 225 but I do expect I will revise that lower.

I am considering Dr. Mast for my plastics. I had my initial consult and was happy, but then i went for a second consult with Dr. Cheng in Davenport. Both have similiar pricing except for the Breast Lifts. Dr. Cheng wants to put in a small implant and Dr. Mast says it can be done with the tissue that is there. This alone has me torn on which dr to go to. I have checked reviews for Dr. Mast and the only thing i can find gripes about are his bedside manner not his actual work. I like Cheng also she was very thorough in her explanations and what she can do for me, where Dr. Mast did not do the details details. Anybody use either doctor and have any feedback for me?

So I’m a week post op (VSG) still on liquids, soup, jello, and pudding and I messed up big time! I ate a Hawaiian roll twice over 3 days. I didn’t have any reactions but I’m worried about long terms consequences for what I’ve done. Any know what effect bread could have? And note, I don’t plan on doing it again so I’m not looking for “if it’s ok to eat bread”. Just worried I threw all my hard work away and may have damaged the sleeve for the future.

HI folks, last night for dinner I had planned to eat 1/4 of an avocado and 2 oz of turkey meat with a little mayo. I guess I wasn't paying attention I ate 1/2 the avocado. It seemed to go down easy. I didn't have any problems at all. Is that too much food? should I be able to eat all of that this soon? . I'm a little over 3 weeks out?

Hi All, I'm getting ready to have surgery in Dec (just waiting on final surgery date) and I'm wondering if anyone was all by themselves at the hospital? I'm not married or in a relationship right now and all my family lives out of state. I do have local friends who I've told about the surgery and one of them is going to stay with me for a couple of days after surgery - but I don't really want to ask her to also come sit in the hospital day of (no real value). What I'm wondering is was anyone else in a similar situation? Were you able to take a bag and did they just put it in the room for you? Appreciate advice from anyone who has been through this! …

I know that we are starting to gain momentum in the August club. How is everyone doing? Have you gone back to work yet? How are you getting in your fluids and protein? I was sleeved on Wednesday 8/14. Yesterday was my first day home, and it was rough! I keep sip sip sipping but I know o am falling short on intake. I took a shower by myself just now, and I can get up and down off the sofa and our of my chair with only a moment of sharp pain. I hope everyone else is doing well

Hi! I had my VSG on June 19th of this year. I am a 20 year old male. I am 5'9.5" and was 440 lbs at the time of surgery. I currently weigh 353, and am super happy about it. I just wanted to check in about the rate at which I'm losing. It isn't always consistent, as I'll lose a pound or so a day for a little while, then hold constant for a a little while. On Saturday the 5th of October I was 364.4, then I went down to 361.8, and stayed there until the 14th (I'm in college so I was partaking in some not-so-good-for-weight-loss habits that week, but realized it was impeding me and fixed them). Then from the 14th to the 21st I went from 361.8 to 353.6 at a consiste…

Hello I'm new to the forum and would like to ask what I should be losing a month. Yesterday was 1 month since surgery and I'm down about 14 lbs from surgery day. I'm definitely eating a ton less than I used to but I feel like I read that you should lose more monthly. Is this normal or any advice on what to do if it's not. Thank you guys

Almost 1 year post OP 10/22/18 was my date. For the last few months my eating has been fairly out of control and for the last couple weeks very much so.. I'm still down a considerable amount of weight since the beginning of this thing.. 161 lbs currently. I was 165.. but I've gained back 4 lbs over the last month. So this morning didnt start great I ate trigger foods cereal/pizza until way past when I should have stopped and went to the shower fairly disgusted with myself. After the shower I made the decision to throw away the rest of the cereal and pizza which I did.. so now its about an hour past that and I felt I needed to share this to get honest about it with s…

Hi all, I’m 11 days out from my sleeve surgery and down about 30 lbs. My post-op diet is full liquids (water, clear broths, jello, protein shakes, yogurt) for 3 weeks until I can move on to thin purées. As someone who doesn’t have a sweet tooth, I struggled with all the sweet flavors of the protein shakes and yogurt at first. I have broth at dinner time to fill my salty craving and that more or less does the trick. After the first week I felt like I mostly got over that hump. Now I feel at a point where I really have no appetite at all. I had a bad day and barely got in any water or protein. I almost forgot to eat or drink. The next day I tried to stay on schedule a…

Hi all. Doing well on day six but figured I’d post an update... Only the largest incision is sore at this point and mainly just when I go to lie down or bend or twist. If I am still/lying down no pain at all. I’m down 19.4 lbs since pre op diet began. Yeah! Full liquid stage is better than clear but it does fill you up a lot faster. I can barely get 4 Oz in of my protein drink and that is sipping slowly. I also feel quite full after that amount. I’ve also learned the hard way that if I am going to add unflavored protein to my strained cream soup, I should not reheat in microwave. Nasty chunks. Blech The hardest part for me is the fatigue I am experie…
