Hi, I had. Some complications and will be on stage 1 diet longer than expected. Has any had experience with significant water retention and what if anything helped? I thought stage 1 diet was 5 days? What is the longest? Sorry for brevity but in pain. Thanks, Mya

So before surgery I was able to brush my tongue no problem at all, now post surgery.. as soon as something touches my tongue I almost vomit. Even thinking about it makes me nauseas. I wake up like 6 times a night because my mouth is so dry. I hate it, I feel so unclean. Has anybody else experienced this ?

I'm at 8 months and a week: I was 406 before I started the pre-surgery diet, 368 on the day of surgery, and am now at 244. Which is awesome, SO awesome, but my surgeon and I set a goal for 180, and the idea of being under 200 pounds for the first time I can literally remember is so important to me. (Also I have clothes from a long-ago weight loss waiting for me in my closet which fit at around 210 pounds that are super cute and also totally mocking me by being super cute yet still too small.) So all I can do is think about how I'm Still Not There Yet...and then when I don't lose for a day or two, I panic: Is this the end? Is this when the surgery push stops, and I'm just …

Does anyone else feel like they can drink fluids all day without a problem of feeling full? Only food gets me full after a few bites, but fluids I can just sip all day with no feeling of full. I do wait 30 minutes between to eat after drinking and vice versa but if I dont eat I can drink no problem. ?

Friends, I am a little over two months post-op. Overall, I have done extremely well, down 60lbs, feeling great and looking forward to achieving my goals. Unfortunately, I have been occasionally having a cocktail while watching football which disinhibits my appetite control and I wind up eating more than I should or can. Anyone have any suggestions to address this problem? Thanks very much.

My surgery date is tomorrow. Woo-hoo!! I just made my post op appointments and they scheduled my next nutrition appointment 3 weeks after my surgery date. Is that too far out? I could be over thinking it but I could get dehydrated by then. Does that seem too far out? Should I reschedule for a sooner date?

Hello everyone! I am 11days out and was losing really fast like down 16lbs after 7 days. Then I weighed myself at night before bed as always (281.6 normal gain from the day) then again in the morning as always and it shot UP to 285.7? I know we always weigh more at night and the morning weight is more accurate, but any ideas as to why it went up over night?

Hi all, I have Hashimoto's Thyroiditis/Hypothyroidism. Growing up I had hair that could be considered fine, but it was pretty full. I wouldn't say it was thick just average. When I began gaining weight in college I noticed my hair started to thin out. I have noticed it steadily getting thinner and thinner much to my dismay. I have tried shampoos and vitamins, but I believe the weight and hormonal issues are the cause. I've read about hair thinning after anesthesia 3 months post-op. It seems like people have had different experiences with re-growth. My question is, has anyone experienced hair re-growth long term after losing a significant amount of weight w…

I'm 15 days post op, on my week 3 diet of pureed foods, though I'm gradually introducing small amounts of texture too. Twice since being home I've had a brief but sharp pain on my right side. I've heard of this as "runners stitch" where not syncing your breathing with your steps can hit your liver, and I'm wondering if that's what this is? I walked 5000 steps today in my neighborhood and it flared up again. I'm certainly not running by any stretch of the imagination but curious if it's a similar thing. I'll mention it at my follow-up appointment on Friday.

I've been dealing with major gas and bloat since graduating to eating soft mushy foods. Even with chewing thoroughly and eating slower. I find myself belching often and it doesn't stop even if I use prescriptions and gas x. Makes it so annoying to eat sometimes.

Hi, I had a MGB last Tuesday. They pulled the drain on Wed. night. The incision was fine all week until I showered on Sunday and it started draining again. I just changed the bandage and 10 mins later it's soaked again. I was wondering if anyone else has had this happen? It's the same light red liquid discharge that was coming from the drain when it was in. My stomach feels softer and I don't really have pain, so I think the draining is helping, but I just wanted to ask everyone here while I wait to hear back from my Doc.

Omg I am one week post op and the only difference I feel is pain on the right side of my stomach. I have not experienced any nausea or vomiting, in fact, while I was in the hospital the day after surgery I was out of it and guzzled water out of a straw! I don’t think this works for me AT ALL. Like did my physician take a tiny bit of my stomach? Today I went to Olive Garden to have the Zuppa soup because it is cheap and hearty. Although I eat a little slower, I still devoured my soup and had a breadstick. I did not feel full, bloated, nothing. I feel like this procedure was a waste for me and all I have to show or feel from it is scars on my stomach (which my tape ha…

I’m kinda new to the site, I am starting my 4 weeks and last week of course it was thanksgiving and I had a tablespoon of potato salad and about a spoon of the dark more moist turkey. It went down smooth and my nutritionist said I can start my one solid a day thing. Do you guys think it’s a good idea I mean what were you guys eating at 4 weeks?

Hello, I have a question. I am a couple days over a week post op ,and in my stomach I really have no pain and feel fine. However, whenever I stand up or walk, I get this pressure on both shoulders and it just makes me want to sit or lay down. It’s nothing like sharp pain, just pressure like I’m wearing a backpack with bricks. Has anybody experienced this?

I removed a bag of trash from my kitchen trash can and it was below the 20 pound weight restriction. I still managed to pull something and have been having pain from the big incision area when walking since then. I am hoping this is something that will cure itself in a couple of days. Very mad at myself because I have been getting around great and feel this is a setback for me. Anyone else had anything similar happen? If so how long until it was better?

Pretty much since day 5 I've been drinking water and shakes without any real issues at all.... I obviously drink less than pre surgery and smaller mouthfuls but still no problems meeting all my protein and water goals.. 11 days post tried some yoghurt high protein YOPRO again didn't feel any physical restrictions inside or while eating it.. My stomach does like to make noises and rumbles at odd times but not feeling much at the moment. I am allowed to transition into soft stuff stage 2 on day 14 that's why I got the yoghurt very soft and tasty.. Is it possible my stomach is still healing and maybe the physical restriction will come later on?? I ju…

Day of surgery 5/3/18, a biopsy was done of my liver and it was perfectly normal. No problems. Last year, 6 months post op, I had an abdominal ultrasound and was told I had gallbladder sludge, no mention of fatty liver. 18 months out, another abdominal ultrasound and I got a copy of the results. It shows a fatty liver, unchanged from 1 year ago and GB sludge. The doctor didn't even mention the liver damage to me and when I asked about it was told not to worry, it happens with WLS. I've researched and I've seen it can happen to people who lose a lot of pounds fast. I lost 55 pounds first 7 months (10 of it pre op). since then another 12, for a total of 67 pounds. This just…

Hi everyone, this is my first post. I had my sleeve surgery on Monday 11/25 and it went well. I had a lot of pain after but day by day it is getting better. I have been staying well hydrated with water and sugar free pops., but haven’t been able to get much else down except a sip here or there. My question is how long until you have a bowel movement? On the 2 week liquid diet before I was still going, but nothing since the Saturday before surgery and I am wondering if this is normal? Thanks for the help/feedback.

I've managed great on my liquids and protein, I'm up to almost 80oz liquids per day and close to 60g protein. I've tried creamed soups (always strained), gelatin, Gatorade Zero, the only dairy I've tried comes in the Premiere protein shakes. We're invited to some friends today for Thanksgiving who know I've had DS surgery. I'm curious how well I might manage some extra-super-blended and strained foods today. I'm only day 10 so I'm not going to push it, but I'm really close to my week 3 pureed stage.

I am 1 week post op and am following the liquid diet but don’t ever seem to feel full or satisfied. Not sure if I’m not drinking enough or what. It can be excruciating at times. The paperwork sent home with me says to consume no more than 2oz at a time of broth, yogurt, etc. Does this sound like correct portions? Any suggestions?

Hey y’all. 5 weeks post op tomorrow and had my 1 month follow up Monday, they were really happy with my progress. During the appointment the doctor told me she wants me to try to hit 80 grams protein & 30 grams fiber a day. I’m able to get in the 60-80 gram range for protein if I drink one of my shakes a day, but the fiber goal feels really high! Even the Benefiber supplements i bought are >10 grams a day. Not sure how I can get there. Any tips? Suggestions?

Hey there. Officially one month Post op from surgery. Feeling great. No issues at all. Still mostly on shakes with a little yoghurt or hummus if needed.. feeling satisfied ? Don't feel the need to move onto real foods yet. I've started drinking black tea everyday now and it actually helps feel satiety and not thinking much about food. I'm sitting between 350-450kcal a day doing well. Started my own diet 90 days ago and I'm officially down from HW 322lbs to CW 230lbs 27lbs since surgery. My next goal is to get below 220 (100KG here in Australia) then see how I look and feel once I hit 200lbs. Dietitian says 200lbs woul…

Howdy all - I am going under the knife on Dec-3, and just received my diet protocol. Teaching hospital in the US, and they have just changed the initial diet criteria to the following: 3 - meals per day (2oz) choice of: Greek Yogurt, SF Pudding, Strained of cream soup, Cream of Wheat or rice, Cottage Cheese. 3 - Protein supplement per day min: >20g protien, <190calories, < 5g sugar. 48-64oz H2o daily, 30 minutes before meals. I have been viewing here for a short time, and this diet actually seems realistic, because it seems that a lot of new post-op patients have talked about feeling hungry because there is no mass in their original post-op …

I have followed the diet, with a few slips here and there. I am constantly having the feeling of feeling hungry. I eat, feel full, then an hour later i feel hungry again. I have incorporated some solid foods into my diet here and there. Is this normal? I am worried that the surgery did not work. I am always drinking my crystal light.
