I had my surgery 4 days ago and am doing the liquid diet - my question is doing I have do the required liquid a day on top of my meals that are also liquid. Or does my meals count towards my liquid?

I haven’t check yet - the thought just came up. it is really hard to take in all those fluids!!!! But I am working on it!!

Should be 50/50 water / liquid nutrition.

My Dr said all liquids including meals count toward the daily liquid goal.

My doc said clear liquids and full liquids are different. Trying to get to 48 oz of clear liquids while following a full liquid diet are separate. Also I was told not to drink any clear liquids 15 minutes before eating, 30 minutes after or during a meal. I am now 3 weeks post op and on puréed diet. I’m down 24 lbs since surgery. I struggle getting the clear liquids in but few so much better if I follow these rules.

I found getting plain water has been easier than protein water. I just fill 8 oz at a time and work on it. Thanks!

What have you been drinking for protein ?

My dr office counted all the liquid (including protein drinks and soup) for a combined 64 oz a day during liquid phase.

Protein water and protein shakes but have went back to drinking plain water - feel better drink the plain water
