Hi! I posted this in the Gastric Bypass forum but I thought I should post it here as well. The surgery type isn't important. I am a little more than 13 months post-op. Have lost 95 pounds but have stalled for a few months, and have had some bumpy roads getting here (serious double pneumonia for one). I would LOVE a buddy/partner (or buddies/partners - the more the merrier!) to help each other along the way - for support, common sense (i.e. "don't eat that Twinkie!"), all around motivation and friendship. I'm 56, mom of 2 grown kids, a nana to 1. I'm fun and outgoing and a great friend! (I feel like I'm filling out an ad to get a date ☺️) If anyone is intere…

I am 16 days post-op. I manage to get almost all of my fluids and my protein every day which is great, but , I have noticed on days that I am more active I am extremely nauseous. I'm talking about just with things like light cleaning. I make sure I am sipping a lot while active because I know even in the past it doesn't take long for me to feel the need to gulp water and I can't do that anymore so I don't think it's because of my fluid intake. Last night I started getting painful twinges in the vicinity of one of my incisions and where my drain was. I haven't had any pain in a week and I didn't do anything different to suddenly cause the pain. At times it's this int…

I’m 2 weeks post op and I have only lost about 7 pounds. I am following the diet as required and I am also walking 30 mins per day. I’m getting scared this may not have worked for me. Shouldn’t the weight be falling off? On surgery day my weight was 229, the scale today said 222. What should I do?

I started at a BMI of 32 and I'm 4 weeks post op and have only lost 7 lbs - after surgery. (I gained 5 after surgery and took over a week to lose that gain). I'm discouraged. Yeah I know it's going down instead of up and I should be grateful. But I just can't understand how I can barely consume 500 calories a day and not lose more weight even after adding more walking and light weights. I've done diets before surgery and have lost more weight in less time. I'm totally confused:(

Just under 4 months down 85lbs from my highest weight and 60 since surgery. I have have stalled at current weight for 3 weeks. My surgeon was very pleased with my results so far but mentally I feel like I am starting to fight the clock before this honeymoon period ends. I have not exercised mostly due to a difficult work schedule but I know I need to incorporate it. I eat around 800-1000 calories a day which seems a bit on the higher side but still well below maintenance for someone at my current weight. Weight loss table below

Just curious like I know people exercise to burn calories. But if someone was only eating a small amount of calories compared to normal is it possible to continually lose a good amount of weight long term or will exercise need to be added?? I'm eating easily 1/3 of the calories I used to plus adding more protein everyday just I don't get much activity in! How long will it last before I need to add exercise/burn calories?? Tnx

What was your first solid/soft food you tried, when you started stage 3? I had my two week follow up (3days early because Monday they’re closed and that’s when it would be exactly 2 weeks) and I have a lost 19lbs. I was told I can start stage 3 today but I’m starting tomorrow. Also what are some tips you can give me? I know one thing at a time as well as a little at a time like 2oz.

I had a quiet shower upatairs by myself for once while my husband watched the kids downstairs. I got out and staired at myself in the mirror and just wanted to cry! I’m about 12 days out from gastric bypass. I had no problem getting down fluids during the all liquid phase. Now I am on soft/puréed, which is a little bit harder. But my concern is that I do get hunger pangs. And also that I never feel full? I’m really scared to overdo it and be in pain. So I have 1/2 a scrambled egg for breakfast and then measure out 1/2 cup of food for other meals. Did anyone else feel like it’s hard to notice the restriction on soft foods? I’m hoping it is easier to feel on solid foods, when I get to that point.

I am unsure if this is related to the weight loss but I recently got my ring resized smaller. Now its too tight in the morning but fits fine in the afternoon. So it has all the signs of water retention and that coupled with my weight stall I am wondering if my body is finding a new balance. With that in mind I am thinking I will be able to flush out even more weight and this recent stall is my body retaining water. Any thoughts?

Hello everyone my name is Antonio. I am currently just over 3 months in to surgery I have lost a total of 95 pounds since optifast. I am working on a side project of meal prep recipes in the last visit I went to go see my dietion she told me that we should be eating a total of no more than 5 percent fat per meal. After doing some research I discover 1 large egg has a fat percentage of 6 percent fat. But when I showed her picture of what I was eating she said it was OK I'm so confused.

I am dyinggg for a salad but last time(a couple weeks ago) I tried to put just a little bit of lettuce on my turkey wrap I got so nauseous and felt gross. That’s the only thing so far(crossing my fingers) that my new little stomach has really disagreed with. I’m nervous to try again. I’m just over 2 months post op.

I'm 4 weeks post-op and I feel like I've lost control and I really need help getting it back. My in-laws came when I was only 2 weeks post-op and I spent much of the next 2 weeks falling off the wagon. It was a mess of trying to just get by on what I could as we drove them all around site seeing, during their visit. Now that they are gone I feel incredibly lost and I SO badly want to get back on track before I ruin everything but I have no idea how. Help!!!!

I’m 3 weeks out of the sleeve surgery and I’ve been experiencing sharp pain on my left side under the rib area. It comes and goes, and the pain can be more dull as well. It is not related to eating because I had several sharp pangs this morning before breakfast. Anyone else experience this? Should I be concerned?

Was admitted last night due to struggling with what my DR. has indicated is out of character for a usual 'oops I overdid it and my pouch is unhappy/overly sensitive. I had an upper GI last week during which I had to try to swallow this horrible dishwater detergent like substance. It was an absolute nightmare. For those of you who sleep on your stomach (not sides), how long did it take for you to try to sleep on your stomach after surgery? I am 5days post op and I can fall asleep on my right side but not my left. I am. Full stomach sleeper but I’m afraid to try just because I do have discomfort when I try to lay on my left still. Also, when I lay on my side I feel like everything inside shifts down with a little discomfort but not much unless I try my left side, that’s when the discomfort is there a lot which is the reason why I haven’t tried to lay on my stomach . My surgeon said I can lay on my stomach whenever. Just want to see how it was for others. Thanks

I will be 2 yrs out VSG this coming October. I’m down from 311 to 141 past my goal if 150. I’m obsessed with not gaining weight back. Still weighing myself daily and to the point that I will force myself to vomit if I think I’ve eaten something “bad”. Anyone relate?

So, I am scheduled for surgery next week. I also HAVE to take my daughter to Disneyland just shy of 5 weeks later. I know to check in with my doctor before I go. I know I need to plan ahead for nutrition. I also know my stamina will not be back at my pre-op levels. I know that I also probably won't be able to tolerate some rides. Thankfully, I am very familiar with them and I know which ones not to attempt if my doctor still has any concerns or I am not feeling well enough to do them. That said, my daughter is scheduled to dance at Disney, therefore, I AM going. We are supposed to be there for 3 days (1 California Adventure, 2 Disneyland). Sending her with another family…

I’m scheduled on surgery in three days (8/28) and received an alert that my cycle could begin on or around the same time frame. Has that happened to anyone else? How did you deal with surgery and your cycle simultaneously? Also, I have very bad cramps and I wonder if the pain medication given after surgery will help cramping as well. After WLS were there any changes with your cycle i.e. was it worse or better afterwards?

So I’ve lost 6 1/2 pounds since July 2. I am following all of the post operative diet instructions and water intake. I am getting in steps and not doing any heavy weightlifting. I started at 218 pounds on the day of surgery and I’m only at 189. pounds 14 weeks later. I know people are going to say that’s great that’s great and I know it is. But considering I haven’t lost more than 6 1/2 pounds in over a month, it’s very frustrating. I’m considering just having a couple liquid protein days to see if that helps boost any weight loss. ?

I am 8 weeks out from my surgery and lost 50 pounds since. I am going through my wardrobe and getting rid of everything that is too large on me now. I've already donated 50lbs of jeans, and now gone through my shirts. I am worried I will have to do this about three more times till my weight stabilizes. How many times did you refresh your wardrobe during the weight loss period?

I was doing great until yesterday. It was my follow up with the surgeon, I was 9 days post op. As I was getting ready, I started getting severely nauseous, I think just from dressing and putting makeup on. Or maybe I drank my protein shake too quickly, I don’t know. I didn’t puke but was just miserable with nausea. He cleared me to try soft foods, so I had 1/2 a string cheese and I chewed eat bite to oblivion but got even sicker. I have the scopolamine patch on, but I also took my dose of zofran (4 mg). I was able to sleep ok. But woke up severely nauseous again. This time I took 2 zofran which didn’t seem to help, and I started to panic so I took an anxiety med. I also …

What Smooth low sugar yogurt are you having? Currently on stage 2. Liquid/semi liquid stage My sister bought me these organic yogurt drinks for kids that have 9grams of sugar (lowest she can find) and 5 grams of protein. Tried having 1/2 of one and my new stomach hasn’t reacted to it in any way. I feel fine.

Today I was nervous about starting the purée food stage. I dumped in the hospital from drinking too fast and I was afraid of trying something besides full liquids. I had 3 Oz of very thin grits for breakfast. I ate slow... I use a baby spoon to eat. For lunch I had a 5 Oz Greek yogurt. Then I had 3 Oz of unsweetened applesauce. I felt kinda hungry an hour later. So I reviewed my eating plan. I forgot to drink my 2 protein shakes for the day. Ooops. So now that I’ve had that. (Only one shake) I feel like I’ve eaten a full course meal on a holiday. Geesh I don’t want anything else.

Has anyone else had fluid build up in their remnant stomach? I am 3 months out from the gastric bypass and about a month after I started getting sharp pains in my upper left abdomen and they have not subsided. I ended up having to have my gallbladder removed two weeks ago in hopes that was the problem. But it wasn’t, had a CT scan and it showed fluid in the remnant stomach. Doc says they want to see if it goes away in its own, but it’s gotten so bad that I can hardly stand or sit. The only relief I have is laying flat on my back. And I recently started having the dry heaves about every hour or two. Please tell me it gets better.

Greetings, I have no other source to get his out, but I have noticed a HUGE change in my mental stability since the gastric sleeve. I'm cannot control my anger, depression, anything. A few days ago I got into a verbal argument with my son and it was brutal. The entire time I, in my head, was being calmed etc, but out of nowhere, I unleashed such hate that I have no idea where it came from. I said things that were abhorrent. I won't repeat it as saying it was bad enough and I don't want it to be in the world again. Anyway, today, I couldn't log in to pay a bill online and I went straight to thinking my kids were trying to backstab me. I've been on …

Itching is probably a good sign as it means that everything is healing but it's so bad its going to drive me insane. It's not the scars it's the entire stomach. It is like every nerve ending has decided it's going to do some kind of crazy celebratory dance. Typically it is worse at night when I am trying to sleep. Any tips to calm the itching and stop me trying to scratch?
