Lost my taste for plain water

I used to drink nothing but plain water all the time prior to surgery or even thinking about surgery. I was pretty good about it and most days got up to about a gallon a day. Since the surgery I'm doing nothing but water with flavor packets and one cup of decaf every day.

I'm not sure if this is a side effect of my surgery about 7 weeks ago or the fact that I started using flavoring packets after surgery and haven't gone back and now I ruined it for myself.

Any thoughts on this subject?

TIA

I don't like drinking water anymore, either, unless I"m at a restaurant. I drink Crystal Light, Bai water, and those 5-calorie diet cranberry and cranberry-combo "juices", mostly. I think in my case it was the surgery, too, since I used to drink water like crazy, even at home.

I always have a metallic taste in my mouth and have trouble drinking plain water too.

Pre-surgery i drank (cold) water all the time. After surgery it just didn't do it for me, so I played around with the temperature and found that I could drink just as much water as before if it was HOT. Now, almost 7 months later, I like it ice cold again, even more so when I add sliced cucumbers to my water bottle, which makes me drink even more.

Your tastes will change, keep trying different things often.

I liked regular water a lot more before surgery too, and I used to prefer it cold. Now it hurts my stomach if it's too cold, and I have to add some kind of flavor mix a lot of the time.

Same here - I LOVED plain water. Only drink zero water now - lemon or orange.
More common than they admit. To me, plain water tastes bitter, and Heaven help you if you present me with liquids at room temperature, reminds me of being caught in a shower of #1, and that's not a Happy Place to me.

Oh, I should have added that I drink coffee too.

Crystal Light, Mio, 15 cal Minute Maid lemonade, green decaf tea, decaf Constant Comment Tea and some herbal. Oh yeah, also propel liquid Strawberry Kiwi. But water unless chilled- Yucky Poo!

Your taste buds will change a lot so don't be alarmed. Right now, I'm addicted to Wild Strawberry Crystal Light.

I only drink plain water when I eat out at restaurants because I'm not supposed to be drinking while eating anyway. At home I drink flavored sugar-free Crystal Light in water.
