Ugh! I am so frustrated. The scale hasn’t moved in two weeks! I don’t know what to do. I’m 5 months post op. I’m eating about 700 calories a day. Doc wants me up to 1000, but it’s been tough to get there. I haven’t had a whole lot of energy the past month, but I upped my protein shakes to twice a day and that has helped with my energy considerably. I admit I haven’t been too strict with my diet relying mostly on the tiny portions that I eat keeping me in check, which they have in the sense that I’m not getting very many calories. I do try and make sure I’ve gotten my protein in each day, and my water. I just don’t see how 700 calories a day can keep me at 185lbs for 2 w…

Am considering resleeve or DS revision and I am only worried but Vitamin deficiency with DS. It looks like a more suatainable option. I will be 2 months post op tomorrow, and I still can't shake this fatigue! It's getting better (1-2 naps per week instead of every day), but even when I'm not napping, I just want to lay down and rest. About half way through my shower I need to sit for a minute and take a little rest. I feel guilty b/c I haven't been keeping up with cleaning the house, laundry, etc, but I'm just so tired all the time. I want my energy back! How long did it take until you were completely fatigue-free?

I'm 4 days post op and having chest pains below my sternum. In the beginning it was very sharp and all the time no matter what I was doing, but very short maybe lasts 5-30 secs at most. Now it's less, still sharp, still short, but has started happening when I'm drinking or eating jello too. Any ideas?

Does anyone experience SEVERE pain before and after vomiting? I would like to know if this happens to anyone else that is more than 4 weeks post-op. The first time this happened at 10 weeks post-op, I thought I had a leak or a rupture. I had VSG and I do not experience dumping syndrome. I was eating peanuts and then choked. I then starting experiencing EXTREME pain. I didn't know what was happening and I was in so much pain, I went to the ER and then vomit while I was there. I again experienced the horrible pain and vomiting today (11 weeks post-op) Unfortunately, I have PCS'ed (military move) away from my surgeon and I don't see my new surgeon until Wednesday. I wil…

We are all working so hard on ourselves to have good health and a nice body. I have never lost a significant amount of weight before, but I definitely look forward to it. I want to keep up my appearance in the process. What advice do you have for beginners? Maybe something you wish you had known before the weight loss or maybe something that you already know and think it's worth sharing! I want to hear it all. I am personally really interested in ways to fight saggy skin, to keep my nipples pointing forward, and how to avoid the turkey neck once I lose this giant double chin of mine! ? For women, I have heard that buying a proper bra throughout your weight loss will …

I'll be at two weeks on Tuesday. I have no problem drinking anything, I can drink A LOT. I can also eat a lot more than I expected, but I'm being careful not eating until I'm full. I have just yet to feel a restriction. Normal?

I’m a transplant patient and required to take meds twice daily. How do you get meds down? For practice, I tried crushing a Tylenol and mix it with jello and just about vomited. Do all meds need crushed? What about capsules? Small pills? I can’t find any info on this.

I am 5 1/2 weeks post bypass I progressed smoothly through my stages however for the past 2 days everything is making me nauseous including my protein shake. After drinking my protein shake I got the foamies and slimy stuff. I am trying to keep hydrated. I am only able to eat 3 or 4 baby spoons of food before the nausea kicks in. Has anyone else had this happen and if so how did you overcome it? Thanks!

I was wondering for those of you who had surgery in Mexico how you are handling your post op care? I had surgery in Puerto Vallarta and saw my PCP one week after surgery, then I'll see her every 3 months for labs. If I have any problems I'm to call her immediately and she'll refer me to a bariatric specialist. I'm hoping this is sufficient, but despite the fact that my surgery team is accessible via email or phone, it's not the same as your surgeon being local.

Hello ALL, So i went in for my 2 week post op appointment today and i got the weirdest advice from my doctor during the appointment. He started by saying "Im sure you don't sunbathe naked outside (i'm a natural golden tan color also doctor is a family friend) but, just so you know if you go outside with just a thin shirt on, put sunscreen on your scars and keep them well covered until they finally fully heal and turn white-ish. During the early healing process if you go tanning or expose your scars to the sun they will permanently have a tan and be a darker color." While i have never heard this before nor have i ever had any scars i thought the advise was unusual. …

I am consistently getting a sharp stabbing pain under one incision. It happens maybe twice a day. I walk through it but am not sure if that's what is making it go away. It's right under my ribs. I'm a week post-op and assumed that gas pain would be done by now. Anyone else getting stabbing pains at random times?

I am almost three months post sleeve and cannot stop eating too fast. Is it just a matter of self discipline?? I have always been a fast eater and can't shake the 'habit'. I am so happy to finally have 'real food', that I just gobble it down. The result, of course, is that I throw up almost every single day. Any tips or tricks out there??

I am 5 1/2 months post op. Before this week, I only threw up once. I had anesthesia earlier in the day and I just assumed that it was why I threw up. In the past couple of days I have thrown up twice. Both times after eating Chicken (and I believe that is what I had eaten on anesthesia day). I wasn't sick before I ate the chicken, was sick within 15 minutes of eating it, and then was fine after throwing up for less than 5 minutes. This does NOT seem like a stomach bug. The first time I assumed it was anesthesia. The 2nd time I assumed it was because it was KFC Chicken Tenders, which are fried. The third time I had a much healthier piece of chicken (not fried). Now I am wo…

Anyone else have this problem? I had my vsg done on 1/6 and had no problem with the surgical tape they used, but I had my gallbladder out on 2/7 and for whatever reason, all five of my incisions are red and inflamed and itchy. I went to the doctor today and got a steroid shot (my surgeon approved of it) to help, but I was wondering if anyone else experienced this? Any idea how long the itching will last? I took the tape off them, so just waiting for the rash to die down. Boo. Also, there is no infection or anything, just the allergy. Thank goodness.

Has anyone else had increased dental problems post-surgery? I had heard several times that for a number of reasons, WLS patients experience more tooth decay and dental problems than the general population. Two days ago (eight months post-surgery), one of my molars cracked in half. I need an implant now. Rarely at night, I experience dry mouth. I shouldn't have a calcium deficiency because I am conscientious about taking my vitamins.

Had a great day seeing my surgeon and checking in for my 3 months post op RNY. My blood results were great all my vitamin levels are good just my healthy cholesterol a little low so he said to start eating a little more food more fish and olive oil etc. He said I've done amazingly to get from 322lbs(146kg) to 186lbs(84.4kg) in just 5 & 1/2 months. I've shed 90% of my EBW; I'm about like 3lbs from "healthy bmi" Surgeon said now to stop worrying about the numbers as much & to just concentrate on more variety in my diet and thinking long term. if I stay at this weight it's perfectly fine if I lose a few more lbs that's great but to stop stre…

I'm curious. As I was walking today and the wind hit me, pulling my shirt tight across my stomach, I wondered when I'll stop wearing my "BIG" clothes and be confident to be seen in smaller sizes. I mean, I've hidden my body the best I can for the last 20 years. When will my mind let the thinner me out? I'll be interested to hear your comments on when you were able to put on smaller clothes and actually felt like you could go out in public in them. Thanks for your input!

Hi everybody I am new here, and just had surgery on Tuesday, 4 February. I’ve already made some mistakes such as weighing myself every day, which has been very discouraging and now know not to continue. I am struggling a lot with eating. Everything I eat tastes so odd to me. The protein shakes are all entirely too sweet, the broth‘s taste too salty and overall nothing sounds appealing or appetizing. The only thing I’m doing fairly well at is drinking, but admittedly not as much as I should be. The hardest part for me has been the emotional roller coaster I did not expect. I try to get up and walk, but I feel so tired and frankly a little sad. Any advice would be greatly a…

I am just about 2 weeks post-OP and I am really struggling with cravings, specifically for savory foods. I haven't actually tried anything, but my brain is telling me I could tear through a whole pizza or a plate full of taco bell. I've been on liquids now for about 4 weeks (2 pre-OP and almost 2 post-op). Is this just my mind going stir-crazy? Do these cravings start to subside one whole foods are allowed (5 weeks post-OP for me)? Any input is appreciated!

Hey all I had my sleeve on Monday and overall I feel pretty good, but have some questions for some of you veterans: 1. Does anyone know a liquid Tylenol without sugar? I am having a terrible time getting my medication in me in a reasonable amount of time. 2. Does the nausea feeling fade? I am having a difficult time choking down protein drinks; I tried a protein water but it was so sweet and chemically I threw it back up. I can tolerate the taste of Iconic Protein Drinks (have Stevia instead of the other fake sugars) but after 4 to 6 ounces I get nauseous and cannot finish the drink; 3. Did anyone else have headaches? I am wondering if it is fr…

So, I had VSG on July 25, 2019. I haven’t had any issues or stalls or anything for about 5 months. Then comes January. I lost about 5 lbs total that month. I had no changes in my diet or anything, and I was eating about 900 cals/day and going to the gym lifting/doing cardio 3-4 times a week. I gained and lost the same two pounds the last two weeks of that month. I had my birth control implant changed in December, so I started thinking that maybe hormones were playing a part because I was on point with everything else. Now it’s February, and I’ve lost 17 lbs since last Thursday (according to my scale). Let me explain. I usually only weigh myself in Wedne…

Hello All, Does anyone have any REAL LIFE experience(s) with taking alternative plant medicines like ayahuasca or san pedro, for religious practices, after undergoing either gastric sleeve, bypass or gastric banding. I'd like to gather this information from people that have first hand experiences or maybe second hand from a friend, but i'm not asking for the opinions from those who have not these experiences. Thank you.

Hi! Despite what my profile says, I’m not pre-op. I just can’t figure out how to change it. I had surgery about 2.5 years ago, and lost around 115 pounds in a year. Since then I have not lost anymore but maintained for a while until about 6 months ago and I started gaining slowly. However, I take full responsibility for this as I basically abandoned my diet completely. I’m wanting to get back on track and I was wondering if anyone had ever done the pre-op liquid diet to kick start loss? If so, how long did you do it? Thanks!

Background info: 22 year old male, 87kg, 175cm. My lowest weight was 78kg but I regained over the past couple of months due to relapsing back into old habits. Been back on track for the past 5 days but I can't figure out how many calories I should consume daily. There are plenty of online tools that help you calculate your TDEE based on gender, age, height, weight and activity level. Based on my information I should consume around 1550 calories per day to lose weight fast, and around 2000 to lose weight. I currently have no problems getting to those numbers, but they still feel a bit high for someone who has had weight loss surgery. I also hear of people having …

Hello. I had a friend suggest this site to me. I'm 6 weeks out tomorrow and i have overall lost 11 lbs. From surgery til now.. The entire 6 weeks.. 11 lbs. The dr told me I was in the 1% that hasnt lost 20 lbs in the first 2 weeks. I follow the diet. I walk everywhere. I mostly eat just meats.. And vegetarian friendly alternatives. Last week my friend suggested i start measuring myself. I have lost 2 inches around the biggest part of my belly. But im not sure what to do anymore. I'm trying to keep on top of everything it just seems the more i try the less I lose. Does anyone out there have some much needed advice for me?
