I am just about 2 weeks post-OP and I am really struggling with cravings, specifically for savory foods. I haven't actually tried anything, but my brain is telling me I could tear through a whole pizza or a plate full of taco bell. I've been on liquids now for about 4 weeks (2 pre-OP and almost 2 post-op). Is this just my mind going stir-crazy? Do these cravings start to subside one whole foods are allowed (5 weeks post-OP for me)?

Any input is appreciated!

Cravings often are an entirely different beast from hunger.

Your cravings *may or may not* subside once you experience general satiety (no clue exactly when that will happen-but keep hope alive)

If they do congrats🎈, if they do not you will need to work on a plan to fight back (if that is what you want)

Good Luck 🌈

I went stir-crazy. Once I was able to eat actual foods, it got a lot better. It was better on soft foods, even, just to have something other than liquids. You gotta hang in there; you're almost there. ❤️

By the way, the cravings I have now are for raw veggies and fruits and stuff that I still can't "have" yet, according to my dietitian. I've been dying for some carrots or peaches, omg. The junk food cravings went away with me providing healthy food, at least for the most part. :) Once you can cook and eat, you can make good alternatives for your junk food, too. You got this!

It's nice to know someone else dealt with this too, and I agree that a battle plan of sorts would be good to make should this happen further out.

Thank you guys...I really appreciate the input.😊

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
