I did lap band to sleeve on 11/2. The first week I had excruciating gas pains in my shoulder and lower back. I’ve been fine up until yesterday, and all of a sudden the gas pain is back. It has moved from my shoulder to my side to under my breasts. Has anybody else experienced this??

So I'm going into my 4th week and starting soft foods, My surgery was nov. 14th so almost a month. I've just started soft food and meat, but as excited as I was to get to this stage I'm a little disappointed in how much I did not care for eating real food. I've gotten so used to protein shakes and my own blended shakes I don't really like how real food feels going down. I chew 40 times and eat very slowly and it still hurts sometimes. Maybe due to my hiatal hernia repair. Any one else feel this way post op?

I know I can't eat it...and I didn't. I really just kinda mashed it with my finger and tasted the juice on my finger. Tiny taste of juice...nothing solid. God, I'm hungry. First three days after surgery, just non-caloric clear liquids. Past two days I've added 4oz of Protien shakes every other hour.....and I'm getting seriously hungry. Tuesday, at my one week check in, I'll get the green light on adding 4oz of strained Soup, or watery cream of wheat or oatmeal, or yogurt, or pudding. So...that really should help. I was losing weight reliably on 1500-1800 calories a day. (lost 30 pounds in 6 months and never ate under 1500) Presurgical diet was aro…

Hi everyone, hope you all are doing well. I have a few things I wanted to ask those who are where I am or beyond that may have experience with the same issues. My day of surgery I was allowed nothing by mouth. The next day I was allowed 1 oz of water per hour. Then starting yesterday for 2 weeks I'm allowed full liquids. Yesterday I mixed protein shake in my Greek yogurt because I'm told everything must be the consistency of milk and able to roll off the spoon. I maybe was able to take in 4 bites of yogurt, and drank half a premier protein and water all day yesterday. Today I haven't "eaten" anything. I've been sipping water and sucked on 2 sugar free popsicles (surprisi…

Am I alone in this? I have not experienced ANY nausea. Not since waking up in the recovery room on Tuesday...nada..not one bit. No urge to puke, no swimmy barfy feeling. Just a little localized pain (not bad) and hunger. Not like over the top tummy growling hunger....but a sluggish kind of punky, head achey.....damn I am hungry sense of not having enough gas in the tank. A little nausea might take the edge off my overwhelming desire to eat an egg mcmuffin. But nope. Now it's just a waiting game until it's legal to eat something and I feel oddly....annoyed....by my good luck. Anyone else completely lack nausea?

I’m 10 days postop now, and I’m still having miserable mornings. I don’t sleep the best, but still mornings are rough. I feel pretty good by about 10/11 am, but before that I just drag. Getting my water and protein (which seems to be everyone’s go to response). Just wondering if anyone else struggles in mornings. How long does it seem to persist?

Today marks a week... Since my surgery. And I stayed 2days at the hospital. I didn't feel up to going home, and my surgeon told me to stay another night if I wanted to. And I did. I don't know how they expect you to go home after one night in the hospital. I didn't realize how hard this was going to be on my body. I don't feel great, I feel weak and have regret. I'm very emotional and keep asking my self "what did I do to myself. I might of been fat but I felt better than I do now. I really hope this changes.. And I regain energy and feel somewhat normal again. I thought I could go back to work this past Monday, which would of been 5 days after surgery but no.. I got so s…

Hi all! I'm 44 days post op and I find my pouch confusing...I discovered ricotta bake when I first started puree foods. I ate it for dinner for days, and then one night two bites in I was in discomfort and it bounced right back out. Ricotta in general, tried it again on it's own. I was fine. Tried it another day and it bounced. Scrambled eggs, good one day, I'm throwing up the next. Same thing with tuna salad on protein chips. So I'm wondering, for those who have experienced this, does it become more predictable? Is my body just weird :o)

Hello, I just had my surgery this past Monday, 5 days ago. I didn't at first but recently started experience a sharp pain above my belly button around one of the incision, not all of the time only some of the time when I move. It is controlled with pain meds and when I called the doctor that said that It was most likely incision pain. It is only around one of the incisions, not the other 5. Didn't anyone else experience the same thing?

I’m so excited to move on to next stage of eating. Today I start soft and puréed foods. Eggs, cottage cheese, fish, purée meats which I’m not sure I will do. Nervous but so looking forward to food even though I know it can be a let down. The shakes and sipping all day is tough. What was your go to in the first few days of food? Also how did you manage your schedule. I laid out the day from 7am to 11pm and since we have to separate liquids and food and my nut recommends 2 hours to drink 8 oz of liquid, there is no room for a break anywhere. Constant sipping, eating or waiting to sip again. Literally not even a 15 min gap. Supposed to take in 60-80g of protein and min 48 oz…

So I will have my surgery on the 18/12 I see a lot of you have Protein goal and all i have is to do 25% protein 50 % vegetable 25% grains... They are mostly saying just do the Canadian eating guide.... From what I noticed a lot of post-op do keto or count calories, the guide I have from my surgeon is well... pretty bad Here are all my guidelines op day: Water or ice only day 1 to 4: water, clear broth, fruit juice (unsweetned and with water added), Jello (no precision if sweet or no sugar) day 5 to 8: cereals with milk (1 or 2%), fruit (mashed) day 9 to 15: cereals, white toast without crust, egg, chicken, fish with …

Hi there! I had my gastric sleeve procedure on 10/30. I lost 10 lbs before the procedure and 10 lbs following it (first 2-3 days). It's been over 5 weeks and I haven't lost a single pound. I don't exercise, get about 500-600 calories a day. Not enough Water though. But I've attempted fixing all that and still nothing. I'm hypothyroid and insulin resistant. Have you any words of advice for me? I'm going crazy here. The doctor's office wants me to wait until next week to "look over the diet". That is not going to help. I've been following the diet. Just hasn't worked.

I’m 6 days out, but yesterday I ate more than I could since surgery. I had a much of mug of broth, some jelly during the day, about 5 spoonfuls, and also tea and a bit of broth during the day. The soup I ate for dinner was the first time I finished a mug in one sitting. I’m not sure if you have mugs so I’ll attach a pic. It seems like a lot but there was no discomfort. Would any of you eat that much at this stage? I was so hungry yesterday and felt so weak, the food made me feel better. Sleeved: 2/11/2017 SW: 209lbs/95kgs

I'm 5 days post op and wondering how much I should be walking or what most are doing? Docs just say walk as much as you can. In the hospital I was talking laps every 1.5 - 2 hours. At home I've been taking one or two longer walks. Do you think it's better to do many short walks vs. 20 - 25 min walk at once. Today I did 7000 steps with about half at home just moving around.

Hi all, I just walked in the door from discharge about an hour ago. I really wanted to post because as I was pre-op and reading forums it was pretty scary (for the most part) about the immediate after of surgery. I'm guessing it's like many things, people only post when they have an issue. My surgery and post op have been nearly amazing; I had a full bypass and hernia repair yesterday via laparoscopic procedure, December 6th at around 9:00am and so far everything has been pretty darn good. There really isn't a great deal of pain to speak of, consuming the small amounts of liquid is an adjustment but easy enough. I've already had one full Premier Protein shake today s…

With this process, there is definitely a sense of great accomplishment despite the gas pain of course and discomfort lol....let’s remind ourselves of the reason we are doing this....to create a balanced, healthy life full of mountains we are set to climb and conquer. Cheers and blessings to everyone waiting on their surgery date and to those who have just made it to the loser’s bench!!! WE GOT THIS!! #Warrior

Gastric bypass Dec 4th. Left sided pain is worse than right side. Left side is swollen as well. Each incision has Staples, so a total of 22. One thing that's got me wondering is, why are my teeth tender when taking my Tylenol 3 elixir, calcium citrate and liquid b12? Drinking fluids doesn't bother me. Anyone else have lower belly pain particularly on my right side where I sleep? It's mainly a soreness. I generally just have it upon waking for a little while. Could it be from incisions still or just a combo of the incisions and sleeping on that side. How long for everything to heal internally? I guess the scariest thing it could be is an internal hernia or something.

So I’m almost 15 hours post op and feeling amazing, very little pain or nausea. I know they’ve been pumping me full of things to help all of that but I am wondering what was everyone’s worst day in the few days following surgery? I’m getting nervous because I do feel so well and wondering if/when that will change! I know everyone recovers differently but in general I’m just wondering what the worst day was for others?

I'm about 4 weeks post-op now and badly constipated. I was having the opposite issue the first 2 weeks. What do/did you take for this? I called my nurse and she suggested Miralax, but I hate the bottle says it takes a few days to work. I don't want to wind up in the ER over this. TMI: It's been like a week and a half since I had a normal bathroom trip. The other day I went a little and it was hard and a little painful.

Had surgery on Monday at 7:30. Was home by 2:00 pm on Monday and I pretty much slept the rest of the day. Didn’t drink much at all, was so out of it. Yesterday I felt so thirsty. I had mostly water and some jello stuff from my doctor which was okay. Had maybe 3 spoonfuls. Yesterday and today I have also tried a protein drink, a cappuccino flavored protein thing, broth w/ protein, and then just regular broth, and then broth strained from soup (obviously super super, super small tastes. It sounds like a lot but the amount I tasted altogether prob isn’t even an ounce idk. I was using baby spoons) and it all just tastes freaking awful. Either too sweet or weird after tastes, …

HI everyone! I had my sleeve surgery on 11/13. I'm doing and feeling really well except every time I drink or eat anything I develop gas bubbles which seem to float back and forth from my stomach to my throat. I have to walk around in order for them to come all the way up and at times can make me feel very uncomfortable. Does anyone know if this is normal? Any advice? Thank you!

I am almost one month post op and I am currently experiencing a stall in my weight loss. It is very discouraging and is starting to make me depressed. I am questioning whether this process is actually working or if I put myself through major surgery for nothing. I also notice that I am hungry more often then I expected to be. I am afraid that I will not loss anymore weight and that I put my body through this for nothing. Has anyone else gone through this?

It’s only been a week for me, but from what I can see, our post surgery diet is mostly protein with some vegetables at the end (if possible). This sounds very much like the low carb diets (eg Atkins). Right now, I know I’m squarely (and deeply) in ketosis. I peed on a Ketostick and it nearly turned black. Just wondering if we will always need to follow a low carb lifestyle? I’m totally cool with low/no refined sugars, but I really enjoy fruit, and I feel like it’s a healthy food in moderation.
