Well I’m 3 almost 4 days post op and we are instructed to crush all our medicines and mix with liquids before taking. One of my medicines appears to be extra super bitter and disgusting when crushed, almost making me vomit when I try to take it. So my question is this....What are your tips and tricks for getting through this crushing medicine phase? Ive been really nauseated today to so it’s been tough to drink my Water and such let alone swallow that stuff with bitter pill powder mixed in.

I had my gastric sleeve on October 17 so I’m one weeks post-op and I can’t poop! Even on my pre-op diet I was going to the bathroom (every few days) because I was allowed to eat salads. Now on my post-op diet I’m just on protein and water and broth. I’m concerned but in reality I believe I have nothing in my digestive system to get out

Hey all! I had my surgery November 15th. I started off at 254 before liquid pre op. To date I am 226. I am very happy I’m not dropping it too fast. I havent seen the 220’s in three years so I’m stoked. I tried to have a little smoked Gouda yesterday. No no no. My tummy did NOT like that. Nor does it like anything sweet. I am learning that I need to just stick to the plan. Lol. I am testing the waters I guess? And its just not happening. So my diet consists of cottage cheese, refried beans, yogurt, and protein shakes. I am not having any issues getting my water down. I am however very constipated. I mean BAD. Ive tried to add miralax to my water, but its almost lik…

Just curious what people’s favorites are? I’m currently drinking an ice cold premiere protein (strawberries and cream), and am surprised how tasty it is. I assume there are other good ones out there to try, as well as ones I shouldn’t waste money on. Let’s hear it...

Age: 19 HW: 296 SW: 280 CW: 257 I’m 7 weeks post-op and I was solid at the gym for about two weeks when I got the approval from my surgeon then my schedule got pretty hectic and stopped but I’m down 39 pounds so far and ready to get back to the gym! What’s your favorite workouts to do at the gym (or at home)? I currently work out at LA Fitness I mainly do cardio but I’m interested in signing up for the classes they offer there such as yoga and kick boxing.

Hi all! I'm new to the forum and 8 weeks Post-Op. I was wondering if anyone one else has this problem? I used to really enjoy eating. Now I'd rather drink water because eating is so uncomfortable and it's like a teas to just nibble on food. So does this feeling go away or will it be here for ever????

Hello, I was sleeved 10/17/17. I have lost a little over 50 lbs. I have had a crazy ride but things seem to be getting back to normal. I am finally on foods, I feel like it’s trial and error at this point. What are some ideas of foods you guys eat and how much? I have been eating a lot of grilled chicken with refried beans and I and so scared that since I didn’t have my measuring cup that I have eaten more than I should have a stretched my stomach. Is this possible? Has anyone else felt like this? Thank you in advance

Hi, I’m not sure what to do , I had the sleeve surgery 7 days ago but spent 5 days in the hospital my hemoglobin kept falling at the time of discharge it was a 7.9 but I’m having so much trouble getting down what they want before the surgery I had already shrunk my stomach from not eating even the dr confirmed my stomach was smaller than usual but this whole trying to get this amount of protein and liquid is very hard coming from someone who was satisfied with a cup of string beans plus it would take me 3 days to finish a bottle of Snapple this is extremely difficult for me I’m not dehydrated I can tell by my lips but I have a lot of pain where the stomach was removed ple…

I am 6 days post-op and I actually started to feel more like myself today, however, since I have been home I've had a really hard time with the chocolate Premier Protein shakes. I usually alternate so I'm not tired of one flavor but every single time I drink the chocolate one I have really sharp pains in the middle of my chest and then I will sometimes burp after. Has anyone else experienced this type of pain with the chocolate flavor? I am so sick of these Protein Shakes anyone have any other suggestions on a Protein they love? HELP!

Sleeved on 11/14 and I have 7 (lucky) scars. I expected only 3ish. I didn’t think about it in the hospital because of my state but now that I feel a lot better I’m starting to think about it. I did have a few residents join in on the operation and wonder if “ they all had a turn” [emoji12] I also have been reading some of the success stories and noticed that on some of the after pics, I don’t see ANY scars whatsoever. Soooo...how many holes do you have? Is there something that I can use to minimize the scars? They currently have surgical glue on each. When will that come off too?

I’ve lost 40 pounds since I started my weight loss journey 3 weeks before surgery. Have lost 26 pounds since surgery, which was 9/11/17. I knew I’d be one of those slow losers, because no matter how hard I’ve tried to lose weight, it has always been a struggle. It may be slow, and it sure isn’t easy, but I’m doing it!

Hi, Im a new poster, new member to this group. I have been bulimic most of my life , so throwing up takes zero effort. I had gastric sleeve surgery and a hiatal hernia repaired at the same time (11/15/2017) I am unable to eat jello, yogurt , broth, lets just say the only thing I can keep down without it sitting in my throat is sugar-free powerade drink. I had a large hiatal hernia but it was repaired , I had my follow up with my bariatric surgeon/ doctor 2 weeks post surgery and asked him if its possible that the hernia surgery was repaired too tight? He said no. He had no explanation on why I cant actually swallow these things and my reflux is worse …

I'm beginning to research and plan my transition to (somewhat) regular foods in the upcoming weeks. Where would you categorize stuff like almond and coconut flour? I mean they're literally ground almond/coconut respectively. Do I treat coconut as a fruit and almond meal as a nut? I know you're allowed stuff like pb2 way before real peanut butter so it's confusing. I would love to use this stuff in simple recipes especially with chicken and fish, but I'm not sure how long to wait (I'm almost 4 weeks postoperative). Coconut flour I'm very weary of because it's extremely high in fiber so that could be a problem for gas and bloating among other things. But w…

It has been a rough 4 days. I went through buyers remorse big time last night. Had extreme nausea and felt like I couldn’t swallow anything. Had clearly lost a lot of water as I was down 12 lbs in 24 hours. Every time I tried to drink I felt nauseous, probably drank 6 oz of water the whole day. Called my Dr and he wrote me an Rx for anti nausea meds. As I sat up most of the night, I did what no one should do, and searched the internet for my symptoms. I narrowed it down to intestinal blockage or simple constipation. Well, constipation is the most likely, so I sent my wife to the store for enemas, MoM, and suppositories. She gave me an enema this morning (marriage level Ex…

Im 5 days after surgery and I feel like I need some reassurance that what I'm feeling is normal. I am down 9 pounds as of this morning which I am so happy about but I feel like I am not getting enough protein and that I'm not doing what I am supposed to be. I have stared to have trouble with my protein shakes I have been doing the Premier shakes in a verities of flavor and until yesterday it was all good. But yesterday I got half way through my first one and got so sick diarrhea and nausea it made me feel horrible the first time ever. I tried another flavor this morning and the same thing. I'm just a little sore and I can be up and moving its not bad Im not on any pain pi…

So I’m home now, about 24hrs post op. It’s been so hard to even have small sips of anything without burping and feeling sick. I’m only having a bit of broth and water. I tried a frozen smoothie, but it’s not agreeing with me, even a very small suck. I am kinda hungry, but I think it’s psychological. Like I thought I smelled a sweet pie and thought of how much I’d enjoy some. Can anyone relate? And when can I expect this to pass? I am lying on my side because it’s comfortable, is that ok? And I’m still sore under my breasts when I eat... Or even when I don’t. I think something was down my throat during my surgery. Belching and the gas bubbles when I eat - does this subsid…

Hello, I joined today in hopes of finding others who are long term vsgers who had horrible gerd after surgery. I had my surgery in 2007 and by 2015, my gerd was so unbearable that I had something similar to a nissen fundo with mesh. That surgery has failed and my doctor is now suggesting a revision to rny. I am concerned about the risk and possible complications. Has anyone here had a sleeve to rny revision after nissen fundo-type surgery? I searched the forums and couldn't find anything specific to this order of surgeries. Thank you for any information you can offer. Lisa

I’m sure it has something to do with the weight loss but I can’t sleep on my sides for long periods of time because my hips and knees will start to hurt and wakes me up. Strange that it’s done it since I lost 85lbs. You would think it would have done that when I was over 300lbs. Anyone else have this issue and what did you do for it. I’m a side sleeper and sleeping on my back is killing me.

My Surg was 11/28... I expected to have gas pain last 2-4 days! It seems to be just as bad as day one & can get intense enough to stop me in my tracts, is this the norm? Also am on a blood thinner for 10days, I am experiencing shortness of breath from time to time... is this due to the blood thinner, or a symptom others experienced??? Any & all info is appreciated!!!

Hello. So after breaking my stall- I’ve lost about 5 lbs.. but last week nothing.. I’m following all diet and water guidelines. I haven’t started the gym yet. I’m active some days with errands or go for a walk without friend- but nothing consistent. I was going to wait until I’ve really plateaued to start gym. Has anyone noticed a difference in weight loss with exercise consistently? Will it help me lose more weight per week if I go 4-5 days?.... I’ll do whatever it takes to speed things up a bit. In November I only lost 10... I lost 38lb my first month! So I’m a bit bored with how slow things are moving.. I’m hoping it’s not going to be 10lbs per month going forward a…

I’ve gone down a whole pant size since my surgery 10/23 haven’t been weighing myself cause I’m scared it will get to my head so I’m fine with that, But I am ALWAYSSSSS HUNGRY, I drink water or will eat a yogurt. If I do eat a small meal it lasts for about 3 hours before I’m hungry again, how normal is this, and does anyone have any meal ideas that last or is this just because I’m still in early healing stages?

I've found a great chicken salad recipe yesterday. It was delicious . You get protein from the chicken. And the celery is very high in fiber. Which is needed when eating high protein. Thought I'd pass it on. Hope you like and feel free to substitute ingredients to your liking. This is for a large bowl. Many meals 1 rotisserie chicken remove skin and dice. 4 stalks celery diced 1 bunch green onions diced 8 oz fat free sour cream 1/2 cup fat free mayo or LF 4 strips bacon cooked & crumbled 1 tsp paprika 1 tsp salt 1/2 cup roasted chopped pecans 1 tsp soy sauce Mix all ingredients except chicken Once combined stir in chicken. Best if chilled for 2 hours You can add…

We’re leaving next Tuesday for Disney World and I won’t have access to a refrigerator while we are in the parks. Any suggestions for high protein snacks that don’t require refrigeration? I’ll be transitioning to a regular diet the day before we leave, but I’m not sure what to take. I’ll end up picking off my kids plates for meals, but there won’t really be any healthy snack options in the parks.

I'm being sleeved on November 28th, do you always get a drain and does it stay in for a couple days? I don't recall anyone mentioning in my appointments a drain. I am staying in the town where I'm having surgery for a few days and then flying home. Now I'm starting to worry that I'll have to go back to have a drain removed before I can leave. Any thoughts. Happy thanksgiving Since August 2017 I have learned to listen to my body, well my tummy. Rice, oatmeal, bread r a no for me it doesn't sit good , either it comes up or it is very uncomfortable . I figured out what were sliders n that's all the foods that I need to stay away from. (Cookies, crackers n chips) So far I have been eating healthy moist foods. Im also learning not fill my plate with my eyes cuz it will take 10,000 yrs to complete it. I am scared to stretch my stomach. So far I'm down 30 lbs. starting weight was 215 down to 188lbs. It feels so good to bend climb n do ur toes. How's it going for everyone else . Sharing [emoji4]

My surgeon told me, at the time of post-op d/c, that I had a large fundus. I asked if this was significant and he said it means I'll lose a lot of weight easily. Because the large fundus had been making increased amounts of gherlin, and now that will be gone. Anyone else hear this? I wonder if it is just a normal variation, or did my over eating make it big? Hoping his prediction is true!

I had the gastric sleeve on Oct 30 and have not lost any weight since the initial 10 lbs. I'm eating right, but not exercising. Also, my water intake may be lower than required. I'm hypothyroid and that may be one of the reasons I'm not losing any weight. But this is so frustrating. The nutritionist wants me to wait for 2 more weeks before discussing options, to allow the stomach to heal. I did post here before and people said I maybe a slower than average loser. But I don't see the scale moving at all. I'm not sure what to do.

I had vsg surgery on 11/20/17. After surgery I was very sick and had to stay in the hospital for a week. I am doing way better now and I’m finally able to eat and drink but I’ve noticed my speech is different. I find myself slurring my words a lot. Especially words with the letter S in them. My doctor says it’s a side effect of anesthesia but it’s been 2 weeks! It’s so aggravating.
