Did anyone have an incision infected? What symptoms should I look out for?

  2. Started by ancirasd,

Have any of you guys had poke? I used to eat it quite a bit before I had surgery and I was hoping I can enjoy it in the future again but I’m not sure. And has anyone had issues with crab meat?

  4. I'm only 3 weeks out, but my fiber intake has been incredibly low. I do add benefiber to my drinks, but how else are you guys getting your fiber in early on? (I'm not asking about constipation or miralax or anything like that, just fiber) It's a struggle for me to barely hit or get close to my protein and fluid intake in daily from the constant fullness. So I'm trying to figure out ways to add more fiber, without being more full and struggling to hit protein/fluid even more I never asked my physician but what about tablets, gummies, capsules? I know a lot of them are inulin based which is pretty shitty as far as fiber is concerned. Ive never had to get the…

I’m so scared... my hair had been really growing nicely, and now all of a sudden every time I run my fingers through my hair I have several strands between my fingers, and my brush is full of hair every time I brush my hair. [emoji20]. My hair was looking so pretty and long, and I just don’t want it falling out. I have been using Nioxin shampoo since before surgery (gastric sleeve and hiatal hernia repair), which was on 9/11/17, and I’ve also been taking biotin, zinc, B12, and also I take my multi vitamin twice daily and calcium, as well as my iron, omprazole, and also started taking a collagen to help with hair, skin, joints, etc. The collagen is supposed to help hair, …

Ever since the day i got out of surgery (4 weeks today) i've been having this back pain... its like right in the middle of the back over the spine, it comes and goes, and it is annoying and sometimes really strong. I asked my surgeon at the hospital and said it was probably because of the hospital bed and then today (since i work at a clinic) i asked one of the traumatologists what he thought about it and he said it was probably because of the weigh loss and muscle loss, which I find not very accurate since i've had this pain since I got surgery. Anyone else been through this?

I'm 3 weeks post op and 1 week into "Stage 2: Pureed Foods" and let me tell ya: I DON'T LIKE IT! I'm over it. My nutritionist has advised no carbs, so I'm not eating delicious mashed foods like mashed potatoes, any baked cheese dishes, etc. Just pureed turkey, pureed tuna AKA tuna soup and pureed chicken. I did purée a couple soups that were high in protein which were actually good. I'd rather go back to liquids for the remaining week! Looking forward to "Stage 3: Soft Foods" and I am desperately craving a salad. Raw veggies might be later down the road, though. But I am ready to try more foods! Thanks for listening, apologies for venting

I am 11 days out from surgery, and I have already stalled out on losing any weight. I am following all of the rules, in fact I’m eating a little less than I should because I find eating to be an annoyance at this point. I’m getting protein and fluids in, I walked outside yesterday for half an hour. I weighed myself this morning and I gained a pound. I am so depressed and frustrated, I really don’t understand what I’m doing wrong. I did not go through all of this to not lose much weight. Has anyone else experienced this?

Has anyone experienced this? Since Saturday (November 25th) I have been non-stop gagging but I haven’t been nauseous and have only vomited 4 times (once actual food and the other times was stomach acid). I don’t know what to do. I went to the ER and they said nothing was blocking anything and to be quite honest I HATE FEELING THIS WAY!! I haven’t been able to go to work or school since I started to feel this way and I’m just over it at this point! The ER prescribed me Zofran but it doesn’t help, drinking water has again become a hassle, and it feels like something is stuck in my throat but there is nothing there. Has anyone experienced this? I’ve been told by a friend that it’s because I don’t have any solids since I’m on liquid only. I’ve tried crushing up a gentle lax and still nothing...is this normal?

I know cigarettes are bad I don’t need people telling me and I’m not posting this for people to jump on me I’m honestly looking for advice. I smoked cigarettes for about 3 months before surgery and quit two weeks before. I wasn’t severely addicted, it was very easy for me to quit. Id smoke one cigarette every day, or one every other day. I haven’t smoked since October 1st and I just smoked today and I feel like everyone freaks out about this but I don’t see it as a big deal especially since one pack of cigarettes last me 3 weeks to a month. 28. I am 11 months post-op and I feel hungry every half hour. I don't want to eat and gain weight, but not eating anything only makes it worse. I get angry, feel tired and uninterested in doing anything. I'm scared what if my sleeve expands most of the time and end up staring at the ceiling most of the time, as I took a loan on my credit card to pay for the surgery. I take my meds on time. I take a protein shake every day, but this hunger generally starts during the second half of the day and gets worst from 6 p.m. onwards. I cannot take water still. I can take 2-3 sips at a time, then 2-3 more sips after half hour, but food (veggies, fruits, bread) is okay to consume. M…

I just bought a box and I love it. It has 10 grams of protein per 3/4 cup serving. It has 7 grams of sugar per serving. Is that too much sugar? It is lightly sweetened with a hint of cinnamon. Combined with skim milk, that gives a pretty good source of protein for my breakfast. Of course, I was not able to eat a full serving, but it is a start.

  38. Hey there, kind of a silly question but something I have been wondering about. I have finished some of the requiring appointments for gastric sleeve, but had unfortunately rescheduled 2 so far (I am planning on making up the appointments of course). Will the insurance company see this as a problem and not approve? Will they excuse the rescheduled appointments as long as I get them done on the day they are rescheduled? I have Keystone first insurance. The appointments that were rescheduled were EKG (finished yesterday). And a psych eval. (Rescheduled for Jan.2)

Hey everyone, I just had a quick question, when you guys have a stomach ache do you guys drink flat ginger ale/ flat, diet ginger ale? I know, at least for me, ginger ale was my go to (before surgery) when I was feeling nauseous or had an upset stomach. Does it just depend on the person at this point? What other remedies do you guys use now for upset stomach or nausea? Oh and I am a little over a month out from surgery (October 24th was my surgery date).

  40. I'm being sleeved in Thursday. I had been in good spirits about it for the most part, finally feeling ok on the liquid diet. Now that I am 2 days out, my anxiety is out of control. I can't sleep, Im throwing up from the anxiety, I sobbed for 2 hours last night. I am terrified that I'm making an enormous mistake. I keep reading forums and support groups and they're scaring me more! It seems that almost everyone has problems with severe GERD afterwards, problems swallowing, I'm reading about people who constantly vomit, someone who ended up in a coma for 9 months, and that a huge percentage of people gain all their weight back within 3-4 years, and now surgeons are saying …

Ok post-op ladies. I have a small situation and I'm wondering if it's happened to anyone else. Up until surgery, my periods were regular. Once a month, lasting for less than 5 days. I'm 6 weeks post-op now and have my period for the second time this month. My last one ended 2 weeks ago. Is this a normal thing? If so, please tell me it won't be a regular/long-term thing?
