I am 2 1/2 months post op. I have lost 60 pounds. I am loosing around 3 pounds a week but I feel like it’s coming off so slowly. I noticed I am not drinking enough of water I may have 60oz of fluid but it’s mixed water, tea, coffee. I have no energy to exercise so I am just doing walking. I also feel like I don’t eat enough. Could I really be not loosing weight because I am not eating my enough or drinking enough? I would like to hear other people what they may do to reach their goals. I don’t eat enough because every time I try to eat sometimes I have no hunger and sometimes I feel like it sits in my chest. Would really love to hear if anyone changed any of these things …

I thought I read a post some time ago about someone having sneezing attacks after eating just a little too much but could not find it through a search. Anyway, at the time I thought they were nuts. Fast forward to being nearly 6 months post op (back in February) and I am able to eat anything I want. I noticed, and it is recognized by my wife and coworkers as well, that when I slightly over eat solid/heavy foods like chicken, I will get a sneezing attack. I know, you think I am crazy but I can tell before I sneeze that I have eaten a little too much because it is a pressure point that I can feel. It is almost like a switch that tells me "Hey idiot, stop eating".... …

My biggest question is... when does the pain stop and how long were you on pain meds. It seems like the pain is getting worse in some ways. Or that it just feels more sore. Just wanted some reassurance that this is normal. I’m doing really well with recovery... as long as I keep taking the pain meds. I’m walking frequently and following instructions. I’m also tolerating liquids really well. At night though, I’m waking up with sharp pains that come on their own and I’m also waking up when I move from the pain. Is anyone else going through this? My doctor recommended a mineral oil enema. I used one yesterday and it helped but didn’t stop the pain at all. I also woke u…

A guilty pleasure of mine before weight loss was Starbuck's Peppermint Mocha. But it's freaking LOADED with sugar. Here are two recipes to get your fix on without the unnecessary sugar! The "At home and have a little time" recipe: Ingredients: 1 Tablespoons cocao powder 2 tsp sweetener of your choice (I use Stevia) 6 ounces whole milk (or coconut milk) 2 ounces strong brewed coffee or regular, organic coffee a splash of peppermint extract (just a couple drops) 2 Tablespoons whipped cream (from the carton- whip with a sprinkle of no-calorie sweetener) Whisk together milk, cocoa powder and sweetener…

i' m sure there are a lot of people here going thru the same things. I was wondering if anyone else at 7 weeks post op can pretty tolerate anything, i have ben staying on course and have lost 40 lbs give or take 2 lbs fluctuation but it seems slow in general maybe my expectations are to high for to much to fast. I go to the gym 4 times a week i walk two miles and have started working on some toning machines. i noticed my hunger is starting to come back and though i cant tolerate the amount of food i was eating i fear 5-6 ounces i can tolerate now at times sometimes 2-4 ounces will eventually grow. i stop myself and follow the program . i am getting my protein as i should …

I am a little concerned about a possible Hiatal Hernia preventing my surgery. Has anyone been surprised, and had one fixed the same day as surgery? I know someone who this happened to, and she was lucky the doctor could scope, fix the Hiatal Hernia, and get sleeved all in the same day. Especially liked to hear from any sleevers who travelers to Mexico. Is this common?

Hi, i just wondered if anyone else on bariatricpal is from Great Britain? Thinks are slightly different for us brits, for one - I haven't found a British support group and some of the procedures are slightly different. In Britain we tend not to tell anyone if we have had any surgery (stiff upper lip) Plus you guys eat foods I've never heard of! ? Im not complaining, your support has been great, but sometimes I feel very alone.

has anyone had bad issues with burping a lot after gastric bypass? I burp constantly now and it's really bad after I eat. I take nexium 40mg twice a day and gas x. I chew thoroughly and eat slowly, and stop drinking 30 min before eating and don't resume until 30 min after. My doc says he hasn't heard of it and my co-worker complains about it constantly, but I really can't help it. Any advice?

How common are teeth problems ? Ive been reading about horror stories about peoples teeth rotting out and losing many teeth in their 20s/30s. I totally understand this can happen with a calcium deficiency , but does this happen to people with the RNY frequently and or for reasons other than calcium deficiency ? Is vomiting a part of life post op ? Is it something I should expect several times a week/month for the rest of my life ? I know about dumping syndrome. But is diarrhea something youll have to deal with for a long time ? Or is this something that is more likely to be a temporary issue after surgery and or situation based on what you ate ? …

I have been banded six years. For the last couple months I get nauseous almost every time after I eat. Does not matter what I eat or how much I eat, I get nauseous about 30 minutes later. I have never had any problems with my band… No throwing up, no nausea, no PB, very few incidents of food getting stuck, etc. All in all, I’ve had a great LB experience (except for gaining half the weight back that I lost). Any idea why I might all of a sudden have nausea after 6 years?

Can anyone recommend an over the counter vitamin that has worked for them that won't break the bank? I only want to take one pill a day. My Dr's office sells these chewables that you have to take 4 of daily, and they are expensive! I am taking Biotin for my hair, but need the vitamins to prevent hair loss, and keep the rest of me healthy too. Thank you!

Hi. I am 36 hours post-op. Before I had the surgery I advised my husband he'll have to fend for himself for a few weeks. We are older ( no more kids at home) and he was a bachelor for a while before we got married a year ago so he's pretty self sufficient. I'm just wondering how everyone else does it. I'm just afraid to be around food that I know I love when I'm only allowed this liquid diet portion of recovery. I don't want to get into a position where I might be tempted to cheat and ruin my new stomach. Is anyone else making their significant other fend for themselves? What about those with children at home. How are you managing meal prep and not being tempted? Sent …

I had my sleeve done on October 17th. I’m one of the young sleevers, I️ turned 19 this year and have been dreaming about this surgery forever and I’m very happy and grateful that I️ was blessed to be able to get it done and I’m down 30 pounds since October 3rd! I’ve had a lot of anxiety and severe depression since I was about 15/16 years old and am still medicated for it today. Most days I have it under control and I’m stable (those with depression or anxiety can relate just people you’re on medicine doesn’t mean everyday is perfect) . I like to go out and have fun so being post-op I’m not used to staying home because I just don’t feel good. I feel like just normal post-o…

HI ALL. Ok, so I had my surgery on 10/30 and all went well, got released the next day. Not in too much pain, have had slight nausea, but have been able to control it. I'm six days out and getting ready to finish the ALL LIQUID STAGE, thank god. Have any of you others been so depleted, that making the bed, getting dressed, brushing your teeth has been a monumental task? I know we have little to no calories on this phase but OMG I didn't think that just drinking water, Kool Aid, Jello was going to be this hard. What all have you done to combat this? I literally feel like my heart is going to explode when I even try and go to the bathroom, because of the amount of exert…

I'm nine weeks post op and I decided that I'm ready to get into the gym. So, I go into the gym yesterday to find that my membership had lapsed. The young lady behind the counter renewed it with no problem and off I was to the treadmill. I used to do 30 minutes at 2.5 MPH with a 6 incline. I never ran just walked. Well, I started out with 45 minutes at 4MPH and I incorporated jogging into my routine. I couldn't jog with the extra weight but now, my breathing is better and my legs don't hurt. After the treadmill I started slowly on different weight machines so I can eventually build up my muscle mass. In the past after the treadmill I had no energy to even look at the wei…

Hi I just had my sleeve done 9 days ago. I had a few complications and just wanted to know who else went through it. At this moment am really in the regret stage. As within 2 days of going home I had to go to the er because I was deshidrated very nauseated couldn’t even put anything in my mouth every smell in my own home bothers me , I hired a cleaning lady to come deep clean my house. At the hospital they also notice I had a uti. I was there 5 hours thank god no leaking ect. So I go home for one day still can’t barely drink the broth(which I hate) next day back to the er. I was on two ivs at the same time and a nutrient one from the pharmacy recommendations of my biaria…

I got my sleeve on the 17th and from day 1 post-op I couldn’t get my protein in. The first week I was able to get 30g (one shake) in atleast now these Premier Protein shakes make sick I cannot stomach them and I’m thinking it’s because of the dairy or dairy consistency, I’ll gag and dry heave after cause it makes my stomach upset. Now I feel ill and weak because I’ve just be having soup, water, and tea. I was going to get the ISOPURE Zero Carb drink but $45 for 12 bottles?? That will only last me about a week and I still have 3-4 weeks until I can get protein from other foods and meats. However, I bought the ISOPURE unflavored protein what are some good things to add it i…

I’m four days out and currently on Lortab 5’s. I’m still really uncomfortable. Especially at night! I feel like if I take two of them instead of one, that it could mean way too much Tylenol throughout the day. What pain medicines were you prescribed and what dosage? I’m calling my doctor tomorrow to see if I can change it since the pain is still pretty bad.

I was sleeved 10/23... and was instructed by my surgeon to begin taking my vitamins day 8. Well I absolutely hate the taste of them & seriously can’t find a chewable multivitamin that’s bearable. Please help!!! Lol I literally gag every time I take one. Do you all have any suggestions on vitamins or a way I can take them that will manipulate the taste? ... Also, are chewable vitamins forever? Will I be able to switch to a gummy multivitamin eventually?? Please help me!! :))

I am not at a month post RNY just yet and all I have been released to do is walking, and I am doing it for someone who barely got 3000 steps before I am no averaging 5000 so I am pretty proud of myself. My question for all of you is what exercises did you start with? I see a lot of people who say that now they run marathons and are darn near experts at yoga but way back when, when you had just started out what did you do? What was the first thing after walking that you started with and how was it, how did it feel?

Well, I'm 2 weeks out on my sleeve surgery, and sure enough the pain is pretty much over and the craving thoughts for a Sprite have returned. What I fear the most is the weekend of Nov 9th when my brother-in-law gets married and we join the entire family in Dallas and eat out alot. This means BBQ and Mexican. I know I can handle eating ok. But drinking without a straw or having Sprite! Oh My Goodness!! I may be in trouble. What have others of you been told by your Dr's?
