Hi I have a question. I had my surgery on Oct 16 and that week I lost 8 pounds but this week I didn’t loose any pound and I am still in my liquid diet not cheating and doing everything single thing that doctor told me. Did somebody know what could happen???

I'm applying to increase my life insurance policy and need to complete a form. It asks if I've had any treatment or observation in the last 5 years, and I'm wondering how honest I should be. I had a coworker denied d/t prior back surgery, so I'm worried I'll be denied if I say I had VSG. They can always ask for my medical records or a physical and then they'll find out anyway and deny me. Anyone have experience with this?

Ugh! I am so upset with myself. I was sticking to my liquids and finally being able to take down a protein shake without vomiting but today is my little brothers birthday and we went out to eat. I tried to find something of soup consistency but found nothing and ended up eating a chicken wing (without the breading of course). But I just feel bad! The effects of my mistake haven’t hit me yet but I wish I wouldn’t have done it. Has anyone slipped up like this, this early on (I’m almost 2 weeks post-op)? I finally was able to get my appetite back which was why I was able to even look at the chicken. But it’s just so hard being around others who can eat solid foods when you c…

Hey all-- My surgery date was 10/10, so I am more than three weeks post-op. I have been progressing very well, except that I am feeling completely drained. Not tired, but just lacking any energy. I know I have to "give it time" because I just had major surgery, but I stayed home doing nothing for three weeks healing up, and even though I wasn't doing much--zero energy. One thing I haven't seen is anyone talking about severe caloric restriction and its impact on how post-surgery patients feel. Like I said, doing great, lost 25 pounds so far, and expect (hope) to lose another fifty. But I am not taking in more than 500-600 calories a day. My NUT says that eve…

I was sleeved 10/11 and so far everything has been going great. I was able to start stage 3 this Tuesday, but am finding that nothing I try is tasting good to me. It’s so weird to me. I having almost no foods that I don’t like to having almost no food that I do like now post surgery. I keep wasting food because I will try something new that I am allowed to have on stage 3 only to find I can’t stand the taste and end up throwing it away. I know it’s common for tastes to change but this just seems crazy lol.

I'm 2 days post-op. Thankfully doing well! I got pretty hungry today so tried some protein for the first time. I mixed some 2% fairlife chocolate milk with some premier chocolate powder, and it was actually delicious. I think my tastebuds in general are very dulled right now (is that a thing?), but it means the icky protein powder after taste is too subtle for my dead taste buds to detect. I know lots of people post on here about using Fairlife milk. I was just wondering if it's a problem that it has 12g of sugar in a cup? All protein drinks have some sugar (usually 1-2 grams), but 12g does seem like a lot. Is there any actual downside to this? My nutritionist i…

I had surgery on 10/23. Was on a strict clear liquid diet for two weeks prior to surgery (with no protein per my surgeon). After surgery added in protein water with clear liquids for another week. Lost about 2 pounds. Now I’m on full liquids and have gained two pounds. I’m very discouraged right now as it seems like the scale is going up. Did this happen to anyone else?

It has become very clear, between the reading materials my surgeon has given and the advice from everyone on this forum, that water is one of the most essential pieces of success post-op. My concern is that I have never been one to hydrate regularly. I roll my eyes whenever "stay hydrated" is toted as a cure alll... headaches, feeling fuller, constipation, nausea, depression, clear skin...you name it water always seems to be the answer. But I hate drinking. I know I am in for a rude awakening for the pre and post op liquid diet, and I am committed to being a good patient. I want to meet my water levels. Can I have some ideas to make sure I am constantly sipping and …

Got the sleeve 10/18. So far things are going well. Just wondering if any else has experienced or know what it means when your stomach makes crazy noises. Not hunger growls but just noises. it's hard to explain. Also, hurts a little but not bad. More just uncomfortable.

The scale can sometimes be stubborn during our journey. It's important to have other metrics of success. Changing clothing sizes is always fun, but when we're in the bigger sizes we can lose several inches before having to buy new ones. The tape measure is a great tool to add to your arsenal. Try not to measure too often. Once a week to once a month may be enough. It's good to measure in several spots. Chest, waist, hip, maybe arms or legs. Women should measure their chest while wearing a bra. The waist measurement needs special care. Don't measure at the belly button necessarily. As things deflate, they tend to head south, and the measurement w…

Hello! I’m 19 years old and I’m somewhat new to BariatricPal! I got my sleeve done on October 17th so I’m 13 days post-op! I feel great! I’m currently down 28 pounds just this month. I just my post-op check up with my surgeon and everything is good and he gave me the approval to start working out again which I’m very excited about. My surgeon said don’t worry about building muscle and to mainly focus on cardio and fat burning exercises. What are some good Post-Op workouts to do at the gym?

This is going to sound ridiculous but hoping I can find others that feel this great after surgery. I was sleeved on 10/18. I feel fantastic. I didn't take any narcotics after waking up from surgery. Just some (Torbidol?) which I was told wasn't that strong. I have no pain and almost feel like nothing happened. I was up walking around and hour after recovery and felt great. I know this sounds crazy but i almost feel like this is to good to be true? Anyone else experience this?

I am 5 weeks out on my gastric bypass. I have thrown up 3 different times. 2 times last week and today. I was eating chicken soup this time and what happened is I had really bad heart burn and I knew to throw up so it would stop.. So I threw up.. I wonder if I am eating too fast? I have not eaten anything that I am not suppose too. I do tend to eat fast cause I am always in a hurry. Has anyone experienced this? I am paranoid about strictures...

Yesterday was my four week mark, and I was very nervous because I knew the candy situation. I’m a teacher, and we have Halloween parties, kids bring me special treats, and then there is trick-or-treating at night. Not only did I make it through alive, I didn’t have one bite of candy. My cravings didn’t exist. I wasn’t even interested when people brought me my own bag of Snickers. This is the most amazing feeling! I can do this!!![emoji4] Have a great day, all!

I am having a hard time keeping any real food down no matter how small the pieces are or how slowly I try to eat. Sometimes creamed soups or ritz crackers with peanut butter stay down, but even the protein shakes are upsetting my stomach and causing burping or discomfort which is eventually making me throw up. The weight loss has been amazing thus far, but I am getting concerned about how this is going or when it might change, etc.. anyone else having this kind of a problem? thanks, Steve

So, I made bone broth and tossed in carrots. Basically, it's a liquid, minus the carrots. Does this mean, I shouldn't really eat it during a meal, as it will help other stuff slide through? I'm having the hardest time with not drinking before and after. I get why, but it's so hard. I have taken some sips. I just couldn't hack it.

I have been on fluid food since the op and move to smooth tomorrow as I feel ready. I look forward to reading your posts and picking your brains as I progress through my weightloss.

Hi everyone. I'm early in the pre-sleeve process (just got accepted into the Bariatric program last week, now 6 monthly weight management visits before surgery can be scheduled). I have GERD that is well-managed with Omeprazole, and I'm wondering what I may experience post-sleeve. For those who had pre-existing GERD that was relatively mild/controlled, can you tell me about your experience after being sleeved? I'm wondering if it's worth considering bypass instead. Thanks in advance for your help!

Got my sleeve surgery one week ago. Up until today I have felt no hunger and having a hard time getting 2 oz down. Today was the first day I actually felt hungry and ate 4 oz of salmon for dinner and was full but not stuffed. I then had some tea about an hour later and then a protein shake as a snack a few hours later. Didn’t finish but could have. And i am able to take bigger sips without pain. I feel like that is too much this early. Is it maybe just swelling is going down and healing is happening? I don’t want to stretch my stomach out. Anyone else experience this? What is the average amount that should be eaten at each meal this early?

Does anyone have trouble with urinating? Should I be concerned that when I feel like I have to use the restroom, nothing tends to really come out. Prior to surgery, I didn't have an issue, but now I'm not too sure, maybe I need to drink more water? Any suggestions, comments, etc. are always appreciated, thank you!

I have a narrowing of my sleeve. I've had 2 dilations since my surgery 5 months ago. First dilation lasted around 5 weeks before all my symptoms reoccurred. Second dilation lasted under a month and all my symptoms have returned again. I had read that some people have a stent inserted for a few weeks/months to widened the narrowing before having it removed. Anyone had any experience with this? Was it successful?
