I never had a drain, just a pain med pump that I youtubed on how to pull out and pulled it out after day 3 of my surgery. I would check in your binder, if your doctor gave you one, or give your doctor a call. Each case/person is different.

My skin actually started to attach to the drain tube by removal day. It didn't hurt when he separated the two, but I was nervous. Your doctor knows how long it should be in, so you're probably good.
