Why Can I Eat Somedays and Somedays I can't

I have had my band for a few years. I have had my band filled and unfilled 2 times so far because for some reason it will get too tight. How can it be loose enough to eat an entire cheeseburger one day and the next 2 days I can barely drink water? anyone else had this experience if so what did you do besides having adjustments?
