Has anyone tried making Protein ice cream (from eggface?) Protein powder and make a WLS friendly type of ice cream then that would be awesome. My birthday is this month and I am thinking of asking for an ice cream maker, but I wondered if anyone else had tried this and what they thought of the final product?

I just ordered a Jack LaLane Power Juicer. How do Sleevers do with juices made from a mixture of fruits and veggies? Hubby's enzymes are messed up and it caused an episode where he basically passed out at work and ended up riding to the hospital in an ambulance. He spent the night in the hospital and had tons of tests. I've read where if you eat too many cooked vegetables and fruits you won't get enough enzymes. I just want to know if I'll be able to enjoy all the fresh juices too, after I have surgery.

Does anyone have an opinion on Syntrax Nectar Whey Protein Isolate? I've been drinking that for over a year, and I like it a lot because it's fat-free and carb-free, and one scoop is 90 to 100 calories (depending on what flavor it is). I'm just not sure how it stacks up against Unjury or some of the others out there, and would really like some feedback. I get mine from Amazon.com--free second-day shipping makes it a lot cheaper than even buying it from the local health food store. Oh yeah, and 23g of protein per scoop. I mis-posted this to another forum, so my apologies if anyone ends up reading this twice. Anyway...opinions, anyone?

I am trying to find syntrax nectar protein samples. I have found a few sites with samples but so far none of them had reasonable shipping. I will not pay more than 7 dollars for shipping on samples. That is outrageous! If anyone knows where I can get some it would be appreciated. Thanks.

I realized that I never shared this story on this forum (where I believe I first heard about the drink Fuze). This an excerpt from my blog on June 13. This morning I was packing for my trip back home from Rhode Island. As I was packing I happened to be sipping on a very refreshing fruit drink. Unable to finish it I thought (in my infinite wisdom) this would be nice and refreshing to finish off during the flight back to Houston. So I conveniently placed it in a side pocket of my backpack as I was leaving the hotel room. The only problem as I was working my way through security?I noticed the TSA people were spending a great deal of time examining my backpack insi…

Hi all, I have been tracking my food and exercise using Livestrong/DailyPlate since many years. I am generally pretty happy with it, the food database is amazing and I have a nice log. Unfortunately, they are not able to fix/release a working Android application, so I am looking for something else. What sites are you using to track your stats? Is there an app for it? does it have a big food database so I don't have to enter a lot of stuff? Please advise Susanne

I've been dying for something that crunches. I've found some crackers which have some protein, but they also have 22 grams of carbs! Anyone have any suggestions for low carb food with crunch?

So, what's the group wisom on this? I am addicted to Carnation Non-dairy no sugar vanilla caramel creamer in my decaf espresso coffee in the morning. One of my great pleasures. I get sleeved Feb 9th. Once I am off clears, I intend to try this. Anyone think this is problematic? Thanks

I was trying to get in all my Protein today, once again, and finally managed it after missing for a bunch of days. Got to thinking.... I don't believe that I ate 40 Grams of protein a day BEFORE my Sleeve surgery. Yes, I ate a LOT... but mostly carbs. I had meat maybe once a day.... had oatmeal & fruit for Breakfast, a CARB snack, maybe a salad for lunch, or Soup.... some protein at dinner but everything else was Carbs. When you come to think of it, eating this much protein every day takes effort, and I don't think "most people," at least not most overweight people, do eat 40-60 Grams per day, do you??? Starting to wonder WHY we need so much protein afte…

Hello, Tomorrow is my 6th month appointment with my nutritionist for my supervised diet. This is an insurance requirement for my UHC insurance. I have been meeting with my nutritionist once per month since July. My supervised diet consists of no carbs. Each meal should consist of 3 ounces of Protein one cup of fruit and one cup of vegetables. I have been following the diet to the letter and I have not lost during these 6 months. Each month I go in and she tells me something different to do. I thought finally I was down but then nothing changed in my diet/lifestyle and I gained it all back. I'm so frustrated. Obviously diets don't work for me and that's why I am wantin…

Hi all, Tuesday will be my one month Surgiversary. The Dr. gave me the go ahead to start eating soft foods. I have been eating puree/mushy for the last two weeks. My question(s) is: 1) What should I be eating? If anyone could provide examples of what they ate at this stage , that would be great. 2) How many calories am I shooting for? So far I am able to eat warm string cheese, thin sliced deli meat, moist scrambled egg (but it sits heavy) As a side note....I have been at 222 for the last 8 freakin days. I know it is normal. But I love to see the scale move. It keeps me motivated. Thanks Michelle

Ok...I was sleeved in December...starting solid foods now...and cant believe we are only allowed 3 meals a deal with no snacking...I would think since the meals are so small, we'd need to eat a little more so we're not passing out...and when I say snacking, i mean some fruit or veggies or other healthy snack...i dont mean snicker bars or ice cream (mmmm....snicker bars and ice cream )...or how about a protein drink between meals...why do they say no snacking instead of healthy snacking? i dont see any other way to get in some fruits and veggies on a regular basis if i don't snack on them versus praying i have room for them at meal time after i eat all my dense protein...…

The family went out to eat last night at Mimi's Cafe. I chose there because I really wanted some good Soup. So we get there and they bring the bread basket, I had a nibble of the sweet bread and ordered a pom/lemonade. Now my hubby doesn't share his food. He just doesn't. He doesn't want a bite of anyone elses but he is very....odd about his food. What he orders is what he eats and he always eats all of it. So sharing with him is out of the picture. The kids meals were corndogs, Pasta, pizza, yuck. All of the small meals were fried or pasta, neither which sit well with me. I ended up ordering the Clam Chowder. Once everyone's food gets there and I taste my soup I totally …

So ... is milk like a big no no or something? I made my Protein shake this morning using a cup of whole D milk, then I input it into my online food tracker. Sure it had 11 grams of carbs but all in all I didn't see anything at all wrong with it - my daily total still didn't come above 30 grams. Here on the forum though, I keep seeing people talking about how their doctors and nutritionists pooh-pooh the drinking of milk and people seem to wag their fingers over drinking "too much" of it. So, what's the scoop?

I admit that I like to drink. In the last year I have cut my alcohol use down significantly from a cocktail or two per night to one-two per week instead. I also make smaller ones than I used to. After VSG why are we not supposed to drink alcohol? Is it just the extra [empty] calories or is there another reason? I have already cut down from 7 oz martinis to 3 oz ones. I have 1.5 oz martini glasses I can switch to in my bar if it is just the calories. I do enjoy drinking wine as well and have cut down from 3-5 bottles per week to just 1. If there is another health issue other than the calories? It is no big deal to drop my consumption to almost nothing but reall…

about 2 months out and my stomach/tastes are pretty unadventourous. Turkey jerky, cheese stick, fish, sf popsicles and chrystal light. That's my go to's when I 'have to' eat. As long as i take my bariatric specific supplements, is this ok? Seems like there needs to be some veggies mixed in to be a 'healthy' mix, but there's just no room. Thankful for this second chance at life. just want to make it a healthy round;)

So my NUT says not to drink through a straw because you intake too much air and that will "stretch your stomach". Has anyone else heard this? Now I don't really believe in the whole streching of my stomach because of the research I have read that says you basically can't really stretch it out that much because that part of your stomach has been removed. But I am curious if drinking through a straw can "damage" it some how? I didn't touch a straw until we went out to dinner over the holidays and then it hit me like HOURS later that I had been using a straw! I haven't experienced anything bad from drinking through the straw (have done it a few more times) but if it r…

I hate drinking plain water, but I am allergic to aspartame, which is in Crystal Light, Wyler's, and most other flavoring packets. The only one I have found so far that I can use is AriZona Lemonade Stix, which uses Splenda. ( I don't like lemon flavored teas, so I wouldn't use the AriZona Lemon Tea packets.) Anyone know of another brand of flavoring powder that doesn't contain aspartame?

So I was trying to figure recently how it could be possible that I lost so much weight on my R&R when everything I ate was incredibly rich ie; eggs benedict, egg nog, oysters rockefeller, spinach artichoke dip, fancy cheese, etc. etc. I think I've figured out how. It's because, if left to my own desires, I hardly ever feel the need to eat. So for example that (glorious) eggs benedict. I didn't eat it till 9 or 10 (had been awake since 4:30) and I really only ate most of one of the poached eggs and probalby about a tsp of the sauce and one piece of (glorious) bacon. I didn't eat again until about 2pm that afternoon, some 5 hours later, after hoofing it all over th…

Just wondering what types of Vitamins everyone is taking. My surgeons office highly promotes Bariatric Advantage but their chewables are YUCK. I know I won't stick with them. They have these capsules, I am considering ordering them, but hten I worry what if they are too big to swallow? and it is 6 a day of those... I want something I can stick with.. They also have these crystals that you can dissolve in your drinks, which sounds great, but dang they are expensive! Calcium I think I'm gonna have to go with the fruit chewables..had some samples...they taste like starburst from bariatric advantage, but I see bariatriceating.com has some good lookin ones too. What abou…

I fell of the coffee wagon. I was good since October 25th when my pre-surgery diet started (which was only one week). This morning, I had a sip of coffee!!! My husband had to go to work this morning and I got up just when he left. He had left about an 1/8 of a cup of coffee in the pot and I stared at it for a few minutes. And then I though - what the hell, let's have it. So I took one of my espresso cups and poured in the left over (less than half an espresso cup), topped it off with a little milk and.......BLISS I am 5 weeks out, and I have to admit that I am amazed at how little I miss caffeine once I was over the withdrawal. I am actually wondering if I shoul…

Tonight my husband is going to the camp, so it is just me and the kiddo's. They are wanting Popeye's for supper and I am kinda stressing out. Pre surgery, Popeye's was on of my weaknesses. Tonight is going to be a test. I am not tempted in the least for the chicken but I am just wondering what do I get. I know that they have mashed potatoes and red beans. I am thinking that either one of those would be okay? Or if I should just stay away completely and get something at home?

Well I have official had my first fast food since having surgery and well, it wasn't what I remembered it to be! LOL We are visiting family for Christmas and here in NE there is a place called Amigos (fast food tacos) and it was always my favorite place to eat (esp. after being out drinking all night!! LOL) So I said I was going to try it! We ordered 1 soft taco, a crisp meat burrito (fried meat/cheese burrito) and chips and cheese (also has enchladal sause) for the three of us!! (before I could eat all of this MYSELF) So I had a bite of the taco (small bite) and two chips and 3 decent bites of the burrito and UGH FULL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was good but it really wasn…
