Hi, this is my 11 day after the surgery and yesterday I went out for a birthday party with my children, I didn't have much choices about what to eat so I have water and yogurt but I was craving to eat something so I ate a couple of pork skins now I feel terrible and scare because that might stop my weight loss. Any advice???

I just found this forum today and thought it would be a good idea to connect to some fellow sleevers. Looking at the posts, everyone here really seems to offer great encouragement in their responses - thank you! Quick background - I had lap band surgery in 2007 and quickly lost about 70 lbs over 6 or 7 months. Then I started having trouble keeping my band adjusted without having lots of reflux issues. I had to keep my band less full and slowly gained back about 50 lbs - I was so disappointed! My doc discussed the sleeve as an alternative, so last Monday I went in to have my band removed and the sleeve procedure done. My recovery has been very fast! Already at 11 days …

Today I decided to get a fruit & yogurt parfait from McDonalds for the first time. I ate about half the yogurt but not the fruit. 10 minutes later I had some serious back pain going across my mid back. It lasted for about an hour. Well, jus to make sure that I wasn't imagining things I just ate the other half of the yogart. Lo & Behold my back is killing me again. Has anyone experienced anything like this? What causes this type of reaction? Any info. would help. Thanks!

Hi All, Living in the Southwest, I have eaten tortillas all my life. A bean burrito is as basic as a sandwich to me. Now I am not complaining, just noting, that when I try a piece of one now, post-VSG, it clumps like paste in my throat. It is just funny how much changed in what I can successfully eat. Carbs are a no-no but you got to have a few. Down the road, I hope to use the high-fiber tortillas like Mission's Carb Balance to cook with. But that's not the same as a really yummy flour tortilla:drool5:. What basic foods have y'all had to give up? Take Care, Pennie

At 3 months out, I've been pleased and thankful that I haven't had any food intolerances, I can eat anything I want, and my tastebuds didn't change. Of course some things "feel" better than others, like protein and veggies obviously go down easier than bread or potatoes. And nothing has ever gotten stuck or made me throw up. However, I've always wondered why I get this weird feeling in my stomach if I eat anything sweet, even fruit. I wouldn't call it a spasm, but more of a churning or a jumping, and then it feels sort of airy and sometimes I'll get that gurgly burp. I know I shouldn't be eating anything sweet anyway, but I've been so curious about why it causes such a…

So, Pepsi Max and I were best friends pre-surgery. I weaned myself off and have done fairly well without my friendship. However, now that I have added in all other foods, I'm obesessing about Diet Pepsi and Pepsi Max. I'd really like to try one, but don't want to hurt myself. (In fact, I'd like to try it and find that it isn't as good as I remember!) So ... my question is - when did you try your first one?

I'm trying to write up my menus for the next week and I know how much Protein I need to have, but what is the maximum amount of carbs? I try to keep them to an absolute minimum, and avoid 'empty calories' from carbs. Can anyone throw any numbers at me please? x

We are going out this weekend with a big group of people to Claim Jumper. I haven't really eaten out yet. I was just looking at the menu and trying to think of what I might order... Soup I suppose, maybe fish tacos. I will probably share something with my hubby. Just curious what choices others would make when eating out.

I have started a new job and will be traveling about 1 week out of the month. I've only eaten out maybe 4 times in the last 9 months. Any suggestions on what to eat at fast food. I have found that McDonald's will sell you just a piece of grilled chicken for about $2.75. Any other options?

I bought 2 of these yesterday to make some ice pops with! I have the problems where here in Spain, ice pops which are sugar free are virtually non existent, and I thought these are great as I can just make the flavours I want, without the hassle of having to buy a pack of 10 where I hate most of the flavours. Not cheap but they are silicon and they work great - i have tried them with some no added sugar pineapple juice as a trial then they are lush!! Kathy

So, since I am still throwing up with the Protein drinks, I was thinking maybe the bars are the way to go. I think I am ready to try them, but what are good ones? What do I need to watch for? A certain kind of protein? Is that marked on the label? protein isolate, like in the drinks? What are your faves?

I know many avoid bread or other similar products, but I thought I would share my review of the Thomas bagel thins and Arnold's sandwich thins. I know there are others out here that do not completely avoid breads and other options on their meal plans. They don't taste like bagels at all. But, I absolutely love them. They have several varieties and flavors. I picked up the "everything" flavored bagel thins and the 100% whole wheat sandwich thins. I can only eat 1 thin toasted with some cream cheese, or I pop them under the broiler with some turkey deli meat and a slice of thin cheese. For me, it's a great alternative to bread. I will probably try soft poac…

Okay, since my grocery shopping on Sunday I have eaten this tyson diced meat for 4 meals (frozen section green bag)...every meal I've eaten 3 oz of meat and a few bites of those single serving frozen veggie containers from green giant. This is the first chicken I've really tried that wasn't covered in some sort of sauce, it is really moist and 20 g of protein! YEAH! The sodium is 330 ...but much better than some of the lean cuisines I had been eating... Has anyone tried crawfish? I've eaten them 3 times this season, I can eat about 1 1/2 of boiled...I'm not sure how much actual meat that is, but since I dip in sauce probably 5-6 oz ...

Hey all, I am wrapping up my first few days of eating real foods. I have had several good learning experiences, but as I had read from many of you, my go to diet food grilled chicken breast is really not working out. I need to eat it with things that are creamy or super moist, or I have gone so far as to chop it til its almost pureed. I need some ideas on things you add to food that give it that creamy moist taste but that don't add loads of fat to it. I am trying to be mindful of my fat intake because I know me and I have the ability to bend rules just enough to make something that is good for me, crazy bad!!!! Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I have been in a funk for two weeks; except for my Bday this past Monday. I turned 43. But for the first time on Wednesday I noticed I have used food to comfort me. I'm not happy with this. I have to get myself together by the time orientation rolls around May 10. Please pray for me. Has anyone slumped before orientation or thereafter losing the weight for pre-op? I can't and will not let food be my crutch now. I've already come too far. I am or hope I'm still at 310. Thanks for letting me vent. KRYS

I was out with friends and my choices were not great. I was starting to beat myself up when I realized it was silly. I'm human. Today's "bad" choices do not rule my life. It doesn't mean that my journey is over. And, when I put it in myfitnesspal.com, I was just over 1000 calories. Pre-surgery, would you ever have beat yourself up for limiting your calories to 1000? OK ... today is done and tomorrow is a new day filled with all kinds of new choices. Rock on!

Ok - with surgery booked for June 10th I have plenty of time to prepare..... and have been looking at Protein shakes - I think I have found one which will be ok and isn't in too large an amount (just over 1lb jars) which I can get on the web. My thoughts are now on the clear liquid stage where you need to get as much protein as possible. Keep in mind I live in Spain so can't get unjury or Isopure.... But I did find these which I can also order...... 6 x 45g Dymatize Elite Liquid Protein Container Size: 1 Box Serving Size: 1 bottle (89ml) Servings Per Container: 6 Elite Liquid Protein Amount Per Serving: Total Calories: 180 Protein: 45g Total Carbohyd…

Just curious how many calories those of you who are six months out or more are eating a day. Honestly. I find that I can hit 1000 calories in no time. I have upped my exercise to burn between 500-800 calories a day about 4-5 times a week because I'm just finding that I can totally eat up to 1200 calories in a day. And my portions are not big. 4 oz - 4 1/2 oz only.

I would like to know what everyone's favorite brand of greek yogurt is? Also, do any of the brands make flavored sugar free varieties as they do with regular yogurt? I tried the Fage plain but I ended up putting honey in it as it was to bitter and strong for me. I liked the fruit mixed ones as well but I know that is all added sugar and I am trying to avoid adding too much sugar. As well, any suggestions on adding things to the plain to make it nicer? Thanks for the advice.

I know they said no caffeine and I understand no more sodas but I am wondering about ice tea. I am having trouble finding something to drink that does not gag me. I used to love Water, it tastes awful now. I have been drinking all flavors of Crystal Lite but that is starting to not taste any good. I am so thirsty all the time. So I am wondering about Tea. Then I am also am wondering about Pasta. I see some eating Mac n cheese, etc. So i was just wondering when it is okay to eat pasta. I just need some input. Thanks.

Ooooooooo! Just ate some very soft, tender broccoli for lunch. Kept it down but it kept wanting to slide back up! This is my first time to try broccoli since my sleeve - it will be awhile before I try again. Weird!

I had my sleeve on 2/8, and feel good. Physically I feel great, I am losing, getting off my meds .. but here is my question. I feel like I am unable to eat much at all. A few bites and I am uncomfortable. I understand about the restriction, obviously that is the point of of the surgery but I hear so many people say they eat what they want just smaller portions. I feel as though the entire "meal" I am struggling to get it in, It looks good, sounds good but when I go to eat doesn't want to go down. I don't know if this makes sense but would love your input. Is it still early out? Is 2 months to early to expect it to be easier? Thanks! Diane

My diet has been off track for many months now and my weight loss (or lack thereof) really reflects that. In my head, I know what I need to do in order to lose the weight...but I cant get my body to do what I want. I still am able to eat too much, not nearly what I ate pre-surgery, of course....but still alot, nonetheless. Its really depressing. Ive been thinking about asking my doctor for an appetite suppressant, except that they have never worked before. I crave food and get so hungry sometimes. I get full pretty fast, but Im taking in too many carbs and calories. My food addiction has never been lessened by WLS. I always thought this was the "miracle cure". Wow, wa…

The chips weren't a problem, but that Dr. Pepper although good does feel funny...bubbly I guess... Tonight I shall go back to my Protein and Water....*weeps* lol...

Hey All, Being a customer of unjury, I am, of course on their e-mailing list. I don't mind mailings when they are informative and not desperately trying to sell a product. A lot of you probably received this but I thought it might be interesting to those who did not: Myth 1: I'm done with the program. I've lost weight. I don't need to track my Protein anymore. Myth 2: I'm at the solid food stage. That means I'm off supplements. Myth 3: Protein is Protein. Just get the number of grams recommended. Let's discuss one myth at a time: Myth 1: I'm done with the program. I've lost weight. I don't need to track my protein anymore. Why it's a myth: Protein is…

This question may have been answered elsewhere, and if it has, I apologize for asking again. But, when I first looked at the sleeve option, I got the overall idea that after the pre-op and post-op special diet and healing took place, the diet would be normal foods, only in smaller portions, with special attention to protein content. Am I wrong in my assumption? After looking over a lot of posts, it seems that most people don't eat a normal diet, but still eat the protein shakes and other "food substitutes". I guess what I am asking is, are the protein shakes and other bariatric drinks and foods a permanent thing, or just till you reach goal? I am not asking this in a…

I just got to thinking the other day... most of the meat I've had has either been pre-measured and cooked (lunchmeat, chicken sausage, turkey burgers, etc.) ... but what about home-cooked stuff? Are you counting the weight raw or cooked? Just curious... probably doesn't make a huge difference with the amount we're eating anyway, but just kinda wondered.

I had my surgery on March 8th and I've hardly eaten anything since. I feel like I was able to get more fluids and Proteins in when I first came home than I can now. Part of this is because the thought of food or drinks repulses me. I also find that if I do get a few bites of something in, I am uncomfortable for hours and drinking makes it worse. When I try to sip, sip, sip my tummy becomes very uncomfortable. I think I'm averaging 200-300 calories a day. I did call the drs office on Monday and she really wasn't listening to me, just kept telling me I need to eat something 6 times a day. If I did that I would not get ANY fluids in. I'm calling today again after…

So I was cruising the Target grocery section tonight and came across these yummy little finds! Green Giant Just for One... these are small pre-portioned veggies, some in light sauces, some not, that you can micro in less than 3 minutes, and they are like 40-80 calories per serving (per one small individual package). I tried the broccoli with cheese, 40 calories, and they follow WW points too. DELISH! Thought someone might be interested!
